The films were prepared from an ethanol suspension by vertical deposition that relies on capillary forces to assemble colloidal crystal particles on a vertical substrate. The 3D ordered films were characterized by transmission spectra and scanning electric microscope (SEM). The effect of evaporation temperature, particle concentration and sintered temperature on the quality of colloidal particle crystal film was investigated.展开更多

Firstly, three-dimensional close-packed crystals of polystyrene spheres are assembled on porous disk substrate by vacuum filtration or evaporation. The polystyrene template is annealed slightly above the glass transition temperature in order to strengthen the colloidal crystal and ensure interconnection of the spheres so as to obtain porous materials with open structure. Following the treatment of hexdecyltrimethylammonium bromide, the polystyrene template is filled with silica colloidal solution, which solidifies in the cavities. Then the polystyrene particles are removed by calcination at 843K, leaving behind porous silica foam. Scanning electron microscopy images demonstrate that silica foam has uniform and open structured pores. Nickel particles were deposited on porous silica foam layer by the dipping method and porous carbon nano-fiber washcoat was prepared by catalytic decomposition of ethene over small nickel particles.展开更多

The obtained Fe3 O4@Si O2@KCC-1-phenyl showed monodisperse fibrous spherical morphology, fairly strong magnetic response(29 emu/g), and an abundant π-electron system, which allowed rapid isolation of the Fe3 O4@Si O2@KCC-1-phenyl from solutions upon applying an appropriate magnetic field. Several variables that affect the extraction efficiency of the analytes, including the type of the elution solvent, amount of adsorbent, extraction time and reusability, were investigated and optimized. Under optimum conditions, the Fe3 O4@Si O2@KCC-1-phenyl was used for the extraction of four phthalate esters from environmental water samples followed by high-performance liquid chromatographic analysis. Validation experiments indicated that the developed method presented good linearity(0.1-20 ng/m L), low limit of detection(7.5-29 μg/L, S/N =3). The proposed method was applied to the determination of phthalate esters in different real water samples, with relative recoveries of 93%-103.4%and relative standard deviation of 0.8%-8.3%.展开更多

Impact absorbed energy is one of the main properties to evaluate the CFRP's performance for transportation and aerospace structures. Two types of nanoparticle, namely nanofibers and nano-silica beads, were added into the epoxy resin to improve the impact absorption capacity of the CFRP. Two modified additives and conventional epoxy resins were quantitatively compared. The impact test results showed that impact absorbed energy for nanofibers was higher than nano-silica beads, and nanofibers as the additive promoted about 11% of impact absorbed energy compared with neat epoxy resin.展开更多

The special transfer paper was prepared by coating the paste mainly containing hot-melt adhesive hlgh-substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose (H-HPC) and printing thickener earboxymethyl cellulose (CMC). The effects of each ingredient in the paste on color yield of the prints and dye penetration were investigated. The major results indicate that, color yield is chiefly governed by the adhesion extent imparted by H-HPC, the type of fixing alkaline agent, and the content of urea. Trichloroacetic acid (TCAA) as the fixing alkaline agent and adding 5% urea can enhance the color depth obviously. Dye penetration depends on the coating quantity on the transfer paper, the contents of urea and dicyandiamide. The printed silk possesses a higher color yield, color fastness of grade 3 or above, clear sharpness, and good handle when the paste contains 3 % H-HPC, 0. 7 % CMC, 3 % TCAA, 5 % urea, 3 % dicyandiamide, and 0. 5 % physical sorbent nano-silica.展开更多

To improve the strength and durability of concrete, some additives can be added into concrete to replace parts of cement. Carbon fiber and silica powder are the most common additives. High-temperature (25-500℃) optical spectroscopy, which combines Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopies, is highly effective for investigating the interaction and material properties that are not accessible at the commonly used cryogenic temperature (e.g., a thermal activation process with an activation of a major fraction of the bandgap). This study investigates a set of monolayer WS2 films, either directly grown on sapphire and SiO2 substrates by CVD or transferred onto SiO2 substrate. The coupling with the substrate is shown to depend on the substrate type, the material- substrate bonding (even for the same substrate), and the excitation wavelength. The inherent difference in the states of strain between the as-grown and the transferred films has a significant impact on the material properties.展开更多

Gapless graphene exhibits ultra-broadband and fast photoresponse while the 2D semiconducting MoS2 and GaTe exhibit high sensitivity and tunable responsivity to visible light. However, the device yield and repeatability call for further improvement to achieve large-scale uniformity. Here, we report a layer-by-layer growth of wafer-scale GaTe with a high hole mobility of 28.4 cm^2/(V.s) by molecular beam epitaxy. The arrayed p-n )unctions were developed by growing few-layer GaTe directly on fhree-inch Si wafers. The resultant diodes reveal good rectifying characteristics and a high photovoltaic external quantum efficiency up to 62% at 4.8 μW under zero bias. The photocurrent reaches saturation fast enough to capture a time constant of 22 μs and shows no sign of device degradation after 1.37 million cycles of operation. Most strikingly, such high performance has been achieved across the entire wafer, making the volume production of devices accessible. Finally, several photoimages were acquired by the GaTe/Si photodiodes with reasonable contrast and spatial resolution, demonstrating the potential of integrating the 2D materials with silicon technology for novel optoelectronic devices.展开更多
