By the use of cross-correlation measures, the response of a symmetric Schmitt trigger (ST) driven by a random binary signal and white Gaussian noise is investigated. The results show that the information transmission can be enhanced when a certain amount of noise is presented, i.e., aperiodic stochastic resonance (ASR). Then, the influence of signal amplitude and the ST threshold on ASR is examined, the applicability of the ST in reducing the noise level of random signal transmission and improving the quality of output signal via ASR effect is illustrated. Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is characterized by the accumulation of circulating immature blasts that exhibit uncontrolled growth, lack the ability to undergo normal differentiation, and have decreased sensitivity to apoptosis. Accumulating evidence shows the bone marrow (BM) niche is critical to the maintenance and retention of hematopoietic stem cells (HSC), including leukemia stem cells (LSC), and an increasing number of studies have demonstrated that crosstalk between LSC and the stromal cells associated with this niche greatly influences leukemia initiation, progression, and response to therapy. Undeniably, stromal cells in the BM niche provide a sanctuary in which LSC can acquire a drug-resistant phenotype and thereby evade chemotherapy- induced death. Yin and Yang, the ancient Chinese philosophical concept, vividly portrays the intricate and dynamic interactions between LSC and the BM niche. In fact, LSC-induced microenvironmental reprogramming contributes significantly to leukemogenesis. Thus, identifying the critical signaling pathways involved in these interactions will contribute to target optimization and combinatorial drug treatment strategies to overcome acquired drug resistance and prevent relapse following therapy. In this review, we describe some of the critical signaling pathways mediating BM niche-LSC interaction, including SDFI/CXCL12, Wnt/β-catenin, VCAM/VLA-4/NF-κB, CD44, and hypoxia as a newly-recognized physical determinant of resistance, and outline therapeutic strategies for overcoming these resistance factors. 展开更多

The impeller of turbo machinery is a typical nonlinear multi-oscillator system.The vibration of each module is coupling, including fluid-solid coupling of the blade.The subject of our investigation was a KDF-5 mine fan for which we analyzed air vibration signals and axial vibration signals by using correlation dimension analysis under five variable working conditions.The results indicate that their correlation dimension curves show a uniform trend.That is to say, the characteristics of the variation signals of the integral structure are correlated and mutually embodied.It proves that it is possible to monitor the working state of a mine fan by coupling the vibration signals and air vibration signals for these are more sensitive in representing the status of the impeller system. 展开更多

The average fidelity is used to evaluate the state transfer. It is found that quantum communication can be enhanced by the anisotropic coupling and multiple spin interaction. Such spin model can reduce the time required for the perfect state transmission where the fidelity is unity. The maximally entangled Bell states can be generated and separated from the whole quantum systems. 展开更多

In this study,three kinds of phenothiazine drugs were analyzed to explore their potential antitumor mechanisms.First,target proteins that could interact with chlorpromazine,fluphenazine and trifluoperazine were predicted.Then,the target proteins of the three drugs were intersected.Cell signaling pathway enrichment and related disease enrichment were conducted for the intersected proteins to extract the enrichment categories associated with tumors.By regulation network analysis of the protein interactions,the mechanisms of action of these target proteins in tumor tissue were clarified,thus confirming the potential antitumor mechanisms of the phenothiazine drugs.The final results of cell signaling pathway enrichment and related disease enrichment showed that the categories with the highest score were all found in tumors.Target proteins belonging to the tumor category included signaling pathway members such as Wnt,MAPK and retinoic acid receptor.Moreover,another target protein,MAPK8,could indirectly act on target proteins CDK2,IGF1R,GSK3B,RARA,FGFR2 and MAPK10,thereby affecting tumor cell division and proliferation.Therefore,phenothiazine drugs may have potential antitumor effects,and tumorassociated target proteins play important roles in the process of cell signaling transduction cascades. 展开更多

To analyze the regulatory mechanisms of p75NTR, the present study utilized a new membrane yeast two-hybrid system to screen a human fe- tal brain cDNA library. Results identified BFAR, a novel protein that interacts with p75NTR. Interaction specificity was veri- fied by membrane yeast two-hybrid co-transformation assays, in vitro GST pull-down assays, and in vitro co-irnmunopreci- pitation assays. The fluorescent subcellular localization assay revealed that the two proteins co-localized within the cytoplasm. BFAR overexpression in PC-12 and HEK293T cells inhibited the NFnB and JNK signaling pathway, as determined with the luciferase test. Co-transfected p75NTR and BFAR in HEK293T or PC-12 cells, respectively, increased the percentage of cells in the G2/M phase, decreased the number of S-phase cells, and did not change the number of G0/Gl-phase cells. 展开更多
