The alkylation of p-cresol with tert-butanol(TBA)to 2-tert-butyl-p-cresol(TBC)catalyzed by a novel multiple-SO3H functioned ionic liquid(IL1)was investigated.Meanwhile,the catalytic activity of this novel ionic liquid was compared with other four traditional ionic liquids.The results showed that IL1 has superior catalytic activity to other four traditional ionic liquids with the conversion of 85.3%and selectivity of 95.2%.Also,the reaction conditions were investigated to obtain the optimum conditions.Operational simplicity,small amount of usage,high activity,reusability and selectivity are the key features of this methodology. 展开更多

Applications of MEMS devices in nanosatellite

With the development of MEMS devices for satellite, it is possible to establish much lighter and smaller nanosatellites with higher performance and longer lifecyele. The power consumption of MEMS devices is usually much lower than that of traditional devices, which will greatly reduce the consumption of power. For its small size and simple architecture, MEMS devices can be easily integrated together and achieve redundancy. Launched on April 18, 2004, NS - 1 is a nanosatellite for science exploration and MEMS devices test. A mass of science data and images were acquired during its running. NS - 1 weights less than 25 kg. It consists of several MEMS devices, including one miniature inertial measurement unit(MIMU) , three micro complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS)cameras, one sun sensor, three momentum wheels, and one micro magnetic sensor. By applying micro components based on MEMS technology, NS - 1 has made success in the experiments of integrative design, manufacture, and MEMS devices integration. In this paper, some MEMS devices for nanosatellite and picosatellite are introduced, which have been tested on NS -1 nanosatellite or on the ground. 展开更多

A fully integrated frequency synthesizer with low jitter and low power consumption in 0.18 μm CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) technology is proposed in this paper.The frequency synthesizer uses a novel single-end gain-boosting charge pump, a differential coupled voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) and a dynamic logic phase/frequency detecor (PFD) to acquire low output jitter.The output frequency range of the frequency synthesizer is up to 1 200 MHz to 1 400 MHz for GPS (global position system) application.The post simulation results show that the phase noise of VCO is only 127.1 dBc/Hz at a 1 MHz offset and the Vp-p jitter of the frequency synthesizer output clock is 13.65 ps.The power consumption of the frequency synthesizer not including the divider is 4.8 mW for 1.8 V supply and it occupies a 0.8 mm×0.7 mm chip area. 展开更多

Monitoring and study of dynamic characteristics of groundwater are significant methods of earthquake monitoring and forecasting. For research on groundwater dynamics,groundwater dating can qualitatively and quantitatively provide scientific analysis on the characteristics of groundwater recharge and runoff as well as renewal capacity. This article illustrates the methods used globally and summarizes the main advances and achievements in groundwater dating. It also focuses on the relationships between groundwater renewal capacity and seismic monitoring,groundwater movement and seismic activity,shallow groundwater recharge and abnormal interference elimination. The studies show that groundwater dating plays an important role in water-rock interaction,and geological tectonic and seismic activity evaluation. Therefore,groundwater dating can be widely used to monitor and analyze the precursor information in seismic underground fluid observations in the near future. 展开更多

We present a simple implementation of a thermal energy harvesting circuit with the maximum power point tracking(MPPT) control for self-powered miniature-sized sensor nodes. Complex start-up circuitry and direct current to direct current(DC-DC) boost converters are not required, because the output voltage of targeted thermoelectric generator(TEG) devices is high enough to drive the load applications directly. The circuit operates in the active/asleep mode to overcome the power mismatch between TEG devices and load applications. The proposed circuit was implemented using a 0.35-μm complementary metal-oxide semiconductor(CMOS) process. Experimental results confirmed correct circuit operation and demonstrated the performance of the MPPT scheme. The circuit achieved a peak power efficiency of 95.5% and an MPPT accuracy of higher than 99%. 展开更多
