TEM images of the obtained Cu2O/rGOs reveal that the Cu2O particles and rGO distribute hierarchically and the primary Cu2O particles are encapsulated well in the graphene nanosheets. The electrochemical performance of Cu2O/rGOs is enhanced compared with bare Cu2O when they are employed as anode materials for lithium ion batteries. The Cu2O/rGO composites maintain a reversible capacity of 348.4 mA?h/g after 50 cycles at a current density of 100 mA/g. In addition, the composites retain 305.8 mA?h/g after 60 cycles at various current densities of 50, 100, 200, 400 and 800 mA/g.展开更多

The thermodynamic analyses and reductive sintering experimental results show that ferrous oxide generated from the reduction of ferric oxide by carbon can react with silicon dioxide and aluminum oxide to form ferrous silicate and hercynite at 1173 K, respectively. In the trinary system Fe2O3?SiO2?Al2O3, ferrous oxide obtained from ferric oxide reduction preferentially reacts with aluminum oxide to form hercynite, and the reaction of ferrous oxide with silicon dioxide occurs only when there is surplus ferrous oxide after the exhaustion of aluminum oxide. When sintering temperature rises to 1473 K, hercynite further reacts with silicon dioxide to form mullite and ferrous oxide. Results presented in this work may throw a new light upon the separation of alumina and silica present in Al/Fe-bearing materials with low mass ratio of alumina to silica in alumina production.展开更多

The structure, composition, morphology and absorption property of UV-visible light of as-prepared samples were characterized using XRD, SEM, FTIR and UV-vis DRS. The experimental results show that doping Fe3+ induced the formation of some new species in diopside, and promoted light adsorption property of diopside in UV-visible region. Photochemical reactivity of Fe-doped diopside obviously depended on the content of doping Fe3+. The diopside with 1.848% Fe3+ exhibited the superior photocatalytic activity with 95% degradation of MB under UV-visible light for 3 h. The photocatalytic degradation kinetics of MB over all samples showed the first-order reaction nature.展开更多

The nanohybrids were characterized by SEM, TEM and XPS, and the results show that CoO nanoparticles (3-5 nm) distribute uniformly on the surface of graphene. The CoO/graphene nanohybrids display high performance as an anode material for lithium-ion battery, such as high reversible lithium storage capacity (650 mA-h/g after 50 cycles, almost twice that of commercial graphite anode), high coulombic efficiency (over 95%) and excellent cycling stability. The extraordinary performance arises from the structure of the nanohybrids: the nanosized CoO particles with high dispersity on conductive graphene substrates are beneficial for lithium-ion insertion/extraction, shortening diffusion length for lithium ions and improving conductivity, thus the lithium storage performance was improved.展开更多

In this work, the reaction behavior of kaolinite with ferric oxide during reduction roasting was investigated. The results of thermodynamic analyses and reduction roasting experiments show that ferrous oxide obtained from ferric oxide reduction preferentially reacts with alumina in kaolinite to form hercynite, meanwhile the silica in kaolinite is transformed into quartz solid solution and/or cristobalite solid solution. With increasing roasting temperature, fayalite formed by reaction of surplus ferrous oxide with silica at low temperature is reduced to silica and metallic iron in the presence of sufficient carbon dosage. However, increasing roasting temperature and decreasing Fe2O3/Al2O3 molar ratio favor mullite formation. The complete conversion of kaolinte into free silica and hercynite can be obtained by roasting raw meal of kaolin, ferric oxide and coal powder with Fe2O3/Al2O3/C molar ratio of 1.2:2.0:1.2 at 1373 K for 60 min. This work may facilitate the development of a technique for comprehensively utilizing silica and alumina in aluminosilicates.展开更多
