Using an equivalent transformation, the square decorated Ising lattice is transformed into a regular square Ising lattice with nearest-neighbor, next-nearest-nelghbor, and four-spin interactions, and the critical fixed point is found at K1 = 0.5769, K2= -0.0671, and K3 = 0.3428, which determines the critical temperature of the system. It is also found that this system and the regular square Ising lattice, and the eight-vertex model belong to the same universality class.展开更多

We attempted to quantify the relationship between T. subcordiformis specific growth rate (SGR) and three important environmental factors (temperature, salinity, and pH) using the central composite design and response surface method under laboratory conditions. The results showed that the linear effects of temperature and salinity were significant (P〈0.05), and they were equally important in impacting T. subcordiformis specific growth; the linear effect of pH was not significant (P〉0.05); the interactive effect of temperature and pH was significant (P〈0.05), whereas the temperature ~ salinity and salinity x pH interactions were not significant (P〉0.05); all of the quadratic effects of the three factors were significant (P〈0.05). A model equation for specific growth rate with the three factors was established, with the unadjusted and predictive R2 as high as 0.990 and 0.921, respectively, suggesting that the model was a very good fit and that it could be used to predict SGR. Through optimizing the reliable model, an optimal 3-factor combination of 25~C/35 of salinity/pH 7.9 was obtained, at which the maximum specific growth rate (0.65) was recorded, with a desirability value of 93.8%. These experimental results could serve as guidelines for increasing T. subcordiformis production efficiency.展开更多

With the assumption of squeezed-like state, a new vacuum state is obtained for the inte racting system. The energy of the new vacuum state is obviously lower than that of unperturbed vacu um state. Based on the new vacuum state, the correction to the Casimir force is obtained. The r esult shows that the contribution of the interaction is a repulsive one and the Casimir effect is attributed to both electromagnetic field and matter field. On the basis of the obtained results, th e recent experimental data can be explained reasonably.展开更多

It is indeed based on the property of colored materials to reflect, in a selective way, the colored radiations of light. The innovation is here based on a more subtle and more complete process, using the trichromy, i.e., all the possibilities of the white light, which is split in three primary radiations: red^een--blue. One can, indeed, animate a pigmentary surface by the alternate projection of these three colors, and thus reveal three different images on the same support, or create a motion effect. However, in this process, the weakness of bhie, compared to green and red, might constitute an obstacle. But that will be compensated by the use of fluorescent colors, instead of ordinary colors. This process may provide very spectacular applications in the fields of lighting, architecture, design, scenography, booths, display windows, etc.. We shall propose a step-to-step approach.展开更多

The candidate of rules are extracted from the personality description sentences about factors: extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness in the big five theory of personality psychology. In this paper, interaction and self-reform rules are not described by personalities themselves; instead, they are described by corresponding phenomena: activity, empathy, persistence, autonomy, and analytical ability which appear in the behavior side. Each member's initial value is determined from the main 5-factor personality investigation to the member, and the target value is given by the member's self-declaration. The rule selection is carried out by the genetic algorithm, where a sigmoid function is introduced in the renewal algorithm of the value, whereby a difficulty of setting the renewal parameters is avoided. An analysis is added about the obtained rules, and the validity of this approach and the subjects for future study are discussed. Finally, consideration is extended to the effect of environment on the behavior of members to reinforce the set of rules.展开更多
