A special device was designed to measure temperature difference in this study of heat transfer of water and oil cross flow inside vertical upward tubes. A new heat transfer correlation was obtained for cross flow. The experimental results showed that the dependence of heat transfer on Reynolds is much smaller in a narrow space than that in a wide space. It was found that the heat transfer correlation of cross flow in a narrow space is obviously different from that in a wide space, and that the heat transfer correlation obtained in a wide space may not be applicable to the cross-flow heat transfer in a narrow space. Further, the single-phase heat transfer capability of water cross flow was compared with that of oil cross flow. The experimental results showed that the average heat transfer coefficient of water is about 2~3 times that ofoil when they have the same superficial velocity. 展开更多

This paper introduces an innovative approach to the synchronized demand-capacity balance with special focus on sector capacity uncertainty within a centrally controlled collaborative air traffic flow management(ATFM)framework.Further with previous study,the uncertainty in capacity is considered as a non-negligible issue regarding multiple reasons,like the impact of weather,the strike of air traffic controllers(ATCOs),the military use of airspace and the spatiotemporal distribution of nonscheduled flights,etc.These recessive factors affect the outcome of traffic flow optimization.In this research,the focus is placed on the impact of sector capacity uncertainty on demand and capacity balancing(DCB)optimization and ATFM,and multiple options,such as delay assignment and rerouting,are intended for regulating the traffic flow.A scenario optimization method for sector capacity in the presence of uncertainties is used to find the approximately optimal solution.The results show that the proposed approach can achieve better demand and capacity balancing and determine perfect integer solutions to ATFM problems,solving large-scale instances(24 h on seven capacity scenarios,with 6255 flights and 8949 trajectories)in 5-15 min.To the best of our knowledge,our experiment is the first to tackle large-scale instances of stochastic ATFM problems within the collaborative ATFM framework. 展开更多

Nanostructured Mn3O4 was introduced to activated C (AC) by a novel sonochemical reaction, and the resulting nanocomposites were examined as supercapacitor electrodes. The sonication not only catalyzed the redox reaction but also promoted the diffusion of the precursors, causing the formation of coherent nanocomposites with Mn3O4 nanoparticles grown and uniformly distributed inside the mesopores of the AC. In addition, the extreme local condition in the sonochemical synthesis yielded an excessive amount of divalent manganese ions and oxygen vacancies. This novel microstructure endowed the sample with a superior performance, including a specific capacitance of 150 F/g compared with the value of 93 F/g for AC at a charge/discharge rate of 100 mA/g. A Li-ion capacitor delivered an energy density of 68 Wh/kg, compared with 41 Wh/kg for the AC capacitor at a power density of 210 W/kg. 展开更多

Retention and Mobility of Copper and Lead in Soils as Influenced by Soil Horizon Properties

The mobility and bioavailability of heavy metals in soils is largely governed by sorption and desorption phenomena.Cu2+ and Pb2+ are among the most potentially toxic heavy metals and they are present,often concomitantly,in many polluting spills and in agrochemicals.The objective was to assess and compare the competitive sorption and desorption capacities and sorption hysteresis of Cu2+ and Pb2+,as well as their migration through the profiles of four natural soils:a Humic Umbrisol,an Umbric Cambisol,an Endoleptic Luvisol and a Humic Cambisol.In all horizons Pb2+ was invariably sorbed and retained to a greater extent than Cu2+.The sorption and retention of Cu2+ were most in?uenced by pH,e?ective cation exchange capacity(CECe) and Mn oxide content.On the other hand,the fixation capacity of Pb2+ was most in?uenced by pH,CECe,and Mn oxide and organic matter contents.pH and CECe were the individual soil properties most markedly in?uencing Cu2+ and Pb2+ sorption and retention.In all the horizons Pb2+ exhibited greater hysteresis than Cu2+.In each soil the hysteresis in the A horizon was greater than that in the B horizon,except in the Bt horizon of the Endoleptic Luvisol,due to its high pH and vermiculite content.Based on migration indices,Pb2+ was less mobile than Cu2+ in the studied soils. 展开更多
