The Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) in this category introduces several innovative operating control devices. One of the recent devices is Advanced Unified Power Flow Controller (AUPFC) or multi-converter UPFC, which can control bus voltage and real and reactive power flows of more than one line or even a sub-network. This paper presents performance analysis of AUPFC based on d-q axis model theory. Based on the analysis, a new fuzzy logic rules based control algorithm has been developed in this paper which improves the system performance. The control rules are structured depending upon the relationship between series inserted voltages in multi-line and the desired changes of real and reactive power flows in the control network. The impacts of different controllers along with parameters of series connected transformers and transmission lines have been investigated through developed control block models in SIMULINK. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is demonstrated by a case study.展开更多

Obviously, these functions are harmonic but using power converters they can be strongly non-harmonic, sometimes piecewise constants with zero spaces between them. Then, one deals with power series of time pulses. The impulse switching functions which are orthogonal ones can be derived from these series. The new impulse switching functions are created using Z-transform, inverse Z-transform and numerical series/sequences. The impulse switching functions created this way can be used for both steady- and transient state investigation of converters.展开更多

Z-source inverter is a single-stage topology that has buck-boost feature, which is possible because of additional shoot through state introduced in zero state of the conventional inverter pulse width modulation and provides desired output AC voltage. Small distributed generation (DG) system with alternate energy sources requires power conditioning units with low cost, high efficiency and tolerance to wide range of input voltage variation and has to perform various functions such as dc-ac conversion, system control and achieve power quality norms. To meet some of these requirements a two-loop control strategy for ac side control with grid current feedback with PI control and inner filter capacitor current feedback with proportional control and on dc side PID control for Z-source capacitor voltage regulation are employed, which gives good transient response also suppress load and source disturbances effectively. Theoretical analysis of proposed scheme is established and then simulation results are presented to validate proposed control strategy.展开更多
