Based on NaSch model, the proposed station model is composed of the main track and the siding track. Two different schemes for trains passing through station are considered. One is the scheme of "pass by the main track, start and stop by the siding track". The other is the scheme of "two tracks play the same role". We simulate the train movement using the proposed model and analyze the traffic flow at station. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed cellular automata model can be successfully used for the simulations of railway traffic. Some characteristic behaviors of railway traffic flow can be reproduced. Moreover, the simulation values of the minimum headway are close to the theoretical values. This result demonstrates the dependability and availability of the proposed model.展开更多

A new dynamic tolling scheme in terms of the real-time traffic condition on the high-occupancy lane was further designed to enhance the whole freeway's flow throughput. The results show that the mean velocity feedback strategy is generally more efficient than the travel time feedback strategy in correctly guiding drivers' lane choice behavior. Specifically, the toll level,lane-changing rate and freeway's throughput and congestion coefficient induced by the travel time feedback strategy oscillate with larger amplitude and longer period. In addition, the dynamic tolling scheme can make the high-occupancy lane less congested and maximize the freeway's throughput when the regular-lane inflow rate is larger than 0.45.展开更多

Demand volumes and shipping sizes were simulated as part of a new conceptual model using a discrete event simulation by minimizing the total logistics cost in the supply chain. The experiments indicate that the full truckload scenario leads to cost efficiency and the larger demand size results in smaller cost per unit based on economies of scale. Considering the interaction effects, demand size has a greater impact on cost reduction than shipping size. The total logistics cost in the system is dependent on replenishment rate and flow rates from the higher to the lower echelon. High inventory cost is the result of a fast replenishment rate and frequent orders, while shipping cost is dependent on the flow rates in a process and total travelling time or total travelling distance. Shipping size also has an impact on the level of service and the total cost along with effective order variability.展开更多

However, this restriction is not consistent with the real traffic condition. Due to that, an enhanced safe distance car-following model is proposed first, and then calibrated and evaluated using the field data. Furthermore, the simulation is conducted to analyze the characteristics of the new model. The results of evaluation and simulation illustrate that the proposed model has higher simulation accuracy than the original Gipps' model, and can reproduce the stable flow and shock wave phenomena that are very common in real traffic. Moreover, the simulation results also prove that the enhanced model can better stabilize the traffic flow than Gipps' model.展开更多
