This research aims to identify the key factors that influence consumers' choice to buy organic food products in Lithuania focusing on the consumer trust in the quality and the most acceptable marketing channels. In order to get the necessary information, the residents of Vilnius (the capital of Lithuania), as having the greatest potential for the organic food market in the country, were interviewed. The analysis of collected data was done using the methods of mathematical statistics and comparison of relative frequencies. The results of this research prove the increasing consumers' interest in organic food products. The majority of consumers consider these products to be healthier, better-tasting and fresher. Only about a third of the purchasers (usually buying frequently) can see differences between organic and non-organic products, therefore, there is a problem to distinguish organic food from conventional products and, consequently, remains a possibility to cheat the consumer. An additional quality control and direct sales from known and familiar farmers might increase trust in the quality of organic food products. So far, supermarkets are the most important place to buy organic foods, however, the greater consumer confidence in the quality of organic products bought at farmers' markets and the acceptance of the majority of purchasers to buy organic food products directly from the farmers suppose the need to develop a direct marketing system.展开更多

This review covers the scope and limitations of different catalysts and methodologies that were employed for the reaction and compare between them on the basis of catalytic performance, product separation and catalyst recycling procedure. In general, heterogeneous catalytic systems are advantageous from industrial point of views as they can be easily separated by filtration and re-used. Nickel modified with tartaric acid and sodium bromide was found to be suitable heterogeneous catalyst for the enantioselective hydrogenation, yet its performance is lower than this of homogeneous chiral metal catalysts such as Ru-BINAP. Heterogenization of the chiral complex via immobilization or entrapment using organic and inorganic supports was thus tested. However, though the resulted heterogeneous analogues were highly enantioselective and could be re-used, the activity of the system is often very low compared to homogeneous system due to mass transfer limitations. Alternatively, performing liquid phase hydrogenation under homogeneous conditions, using Ru-BINAP soluble derivatives, yielded high activit5' and enantioselectivity. Product separation and catalysts recycling were facilitated by either extraction of the product with solvent that does not dissolve the complex or by selective filtration of the product. Alternatively, precipitation of the complex at the end of the reaction was also reported.展开更多

After providing clarification on the meaning of true transmedia content, the author suggests that this fi)rm of narrative necessitates a variety of techniques that are beyond those found in the traditional skill set of the linear storyteller. The paper introduces a multi-layered model to help provide a structure for the development of transmedia narrative. It also outlines various stages of development and their specific characteristics. These include the establishment of a core message, introductory, development, and mature narrative phases. It draws extensive]Ly from a case study in transmedia storytelling co-produced by the author. The project, entitled Geo Freakz is rooted in the family sport of geocaching and was initially released on a trial basis, in Canada. The project includes webisodes, multiplayer on line games, TV programming, and live events. Collaborative partners are drawn from several media modalities. Findings from the case to date are used to illustrate the model presented in the paper as well as outline challenges in transmedia storytelling yet to be dealt with.展开更多

To date, there have been only a few insufficient researches on this topic in Japan. This paper aims to reveal the causality relationship between the market price of imported fishmeal and the market price of pisciculture products using the granger causality test, and to simulate the market price of pisciculture products using impulse response functions as the price of imported fishmeal increases. The results of the granger causality test and impulse response function analyses were as follows: (1) there is a market linkage from the price of imported fishmeal to the market price of sea bream, but no causality with the market price yellowtail; and (2) this has a positive impact on the market price of sea bream when the price of imported fishmeal changes. Moreover, spillover effects were noticed in this simple scenario (at a market price of 800 yen/kg and one unit shock of 1 yen) of about 3 yen/kg.展开更多

However, frequently it is not clear when such an approximation is applicable and when it breaks down. This paper studies the simple Schnakenberg model consisting of three reversible reactions and two molecular species whose concentrations vary. To reduce the residual errors from the conventional formulation of the Langevin equation, the authors propose to explicitly model the effective coupling between macroscopic concentrations of different molecular species. The results show that this formulation is effective in correcting residual errors from the original uncoupled Langevin equation and can approximate the underlying chemical master equation very accurately.展开更多
