The image of the place of origin influences the assessment of products and brands (brand image) they come from. Traditionally, consumers extrapolate the characteristics of the country and its inhabitants on the characteristics of the product. Chinese products are very common and they can be purchased almost anywhere. The consumer does not have to take any special efforts to acquire products "made in China". Many of these products do not have specific characteristics that allow them to be considered as the unique. Products, whose names indicate the place of origin, are witnessing an increasing popularity. In the case of products "made in China", the matter is different. Often, consumers do not admit that they purchase goods produced in China. Research on consumer behaviour in the market of chines products, conducted among Polish citizens, indicated that these products are readily bought. This article presents the results of the research on consumers' attitudes towards regional "made in China" which was conducted in April 2015 among Polish citizens. Furthermore, the article will include the comparison of attitudes towards Chinese products between consumers from Poland and other European countries.展开更多

"High export and high energy consumption" has become the feature of China's trade and economic development. In this paper, based on the input-output analysis approach, the authors have conducted an empirical study on the export trade and energy consumption of 21 trade industrial sectors. The results show that,China is a big net exporter of embodied energy.Assuming that the export growth rate of embodied energy maintains to be about 23.6%,the average annual growth rate of the past 32 years, and based on the input-output data of 2005,by 2030 China's net export of embodied energy would be over eight times more than the aggregate energy production, which is obviously infeasible. As a country of very low per capita energy,China must change its export pattern, encourage or restrain the export of different industrial sectors according to their energy consumption intensity, and promote structural change of energy-efficient exported products,so as to achieve the sustainable development.Accordingly, the authors put forward some suggestions.展开更多

This paper intends to examine the level of consumers' brand origin recognition accuracy of high-involved products (referred to hereafter as BORAx), investigate the factors facilitating BORAHI, and trace the implications of BORAHHI on brand evaluation, especially in cellphone industry. The BORAHI is measured in China through cellphones as the product object and a consumers' cognitive model of BORAhn is built. The paper concludes that: Chinese urban consumers have a fairly high BORAHHI; better-educated consumers demonstrate higher BORAHHI scores for foreign brands; rmle consumers have higher BORAHI scores than fe-rrules consumers; consumers lower in ethnocen-trism exhibit higher level of BORAHI for foreign brands, and ethnocentrism has no effect on BO-RAHI for local brands; international experience is not related to BORAHI for local brands; internation-al experience is positively related to education and income respectively, but it is negatively related to age. This research finds that the consumer behavior in China, one of emerging markets, is significantly different from that in developed countries.展开更多

In this paper, we build a Chinese inter-regional CGE model and simulate 13 policies and their combinations. By analyzing the energy consumptions, coal consumptions, relating emissions and their impacts on GDP, we found that with the structure adjustment policy, the proportion of coal in primary fossil fuels in 2030 will decrease from 53% to 48% and CO2 emissions will decrease by 11.3%-22.8% compared to the baseline scenario. With the energy intensity reduction policy, CO2 emissions will decrease by 33.3% in 2030 and 47.8% in 2050 than baseline scenario. Other pollutants will also be controlled as synergetic effects. In this study we also find that although the earlier the peaking time the better for emission amounts control, the economic costs can not be ignored. The GDP will decrease by 2.96%-8.23% under different scenarios. Therefore, integrated policy solutions are needed for realizing the peaks package and more targeted measures are required to achieve the peaks of other pollutants earlier.展开更多

The result of the model showed urban residents' annual disposable income and having meals out of home play the greatest effect on the consumption of aquatic products, followed by the number of retail chains stores; family structure plays a negative effect on the consumption of aquatic products. Also, the analysis shows not only the prices of the aquatic products as well as substitutes should be considered and also the quantity of the meals consumed by residents out of home and the number of retail chains stores should be used as important associated factors in studying the change trend of aquatic products consumption, and simultaneously the effect of family structure on the consumption quantity of aquatic products should be taken seriously, so that the aquatic products consumption of Chinese residents should be further promoted and also the aquatic products market can attain a development.展开更多

We find private debt nearly stationary for about 20 years (starting from extremely low values) and expanding thereafter in nearly explosive terms. By disaggregating the time series of private debt, we pinpoint household debt (consumer, credit cards and mortgages) as the reason for this exponential increase. When considering demand and supply curves for household debt, shifts of the curves are to be interpreted: explanations from the demand side include, among others, expectations of future incomes. Regarding the supply side, the availability of loans (partly attributable to increased bank competition) and overall bank deregulation are proposed. Financial deregulation permitted banks to move promptly and offer to ambitious (but not necessarily solvent) customers a wide spectrum of choices: mortgages, credit cards, consumer loans and so on. Every single step in the process of financial deregulation was accompanied by a higher level of household indebtedness. Moving up from the household level to the macroeconomic level, increased debt had been also a solution to stalling effective demand, possibly due to the redistribution of income. Empirical analysis and causality tests are conducted along these lines and we find a two way causal relationship between GDP growth and private debt.展开更多

The respondents are 379 males and females who have at least occasionally had a beer during the past few years. The findings show that males are more likely to drink beer regularly and in larger quantities. The average respondent seems to drink beer in order to relax and socialize at parties. Respondents recognize Leo beer more than the other two brands in this study. Descriptive statistics and statistical analysis are presented for individuals, managers, as well as for advertising and marketing professionals. Energy crisis and environmental crisis prompted human thinking, looking for a way out. Of course, the new energy present due to various reasons, in the proportion of human energy consumption structure, the proportion accounted for far less than fossil fuels, technical issues, storage and transportation issues and cost issues still restrict the development and popularization of new energy. This has become even greater problem that China has entered the "new normal" in recent years. The study uses a multi-regional input-output model, with linear programming to build an optimal model of industrial structure as well as a model of optimization degree under the energy constraint. The results of the study revealed that:(1) the degree of optimization of industrial structure in Anhui Province is optimal(0.763), while that of Shanxi Province is the lowest(0.662);(2) the degree of optimization of industrial structure is negatively related to energy consumption per unit output value and the proportion of heavy industry; and(3) overall, central China should maintain or moderately increase the proportions of resource-based industry, greatly increase the proportions of manufacturing, including transport and telecommunications equipment, computers and other electronic equipment, and moderately reduce the proportions of smelting and pressing of metals and non-metal mineral products. In terms of service industries, the region should greatly increase the proportions of the production and supply of natural gas and tap water, moderately reduce or maintain the proportions of transport and storage as well as tourism, and maintain or moderately reduce the proportions of wholesale trade, retail trade and catering services.展开更多
