The results showed that: (1) The average musk production from 507 individuals was 8.8 g, with the highest 22.6 g and lowest 1.0 g; (2) The musk production of 76.9% individuals was within the range of 5-15 g;(3)The average musk production from 1.5 year group was the highest 10.3 g among all age groups, which might have resulted from the well-breeding to the young;(4) The distribution of the annual musk production since 1998 appeared to be a typical wave-shaped curve; (5)The average musk production (8.8 g) was lower than those reported by the other farms, and the main cause was probably the unbalanced rations, and (6) The annual average musk production (above 12 g) and harvest times (above 7 times) of a few individuals were relatively high, and it was suggested that the breeding program of musk deer should be emphasized in the future.展开更多

Therefore, nitrogen is the key input for increasing the productivity of aromatic rice. Research analyzing the effects of N level on yield and quality characteristics of modem aromatic cultivars in the north-western Indo-Gangetic Plains is not well documented. Therefore, the present study was conducted to optimise the N levels for higher yield and better quality of the modem aromatic rice cultivars. The mean grain yield increased by 22.5% when plots were supplemented with 40 kg/ha of N application as compared to control (unfertilized). Among cultivars, Punjab Mehak 1 registered highest yield (5.3 t/ha) followed by Pusa Basmati 1121 (4.78 t/ha) and Punjab Basmati 2 (4.66 t/ha) respectively. Interactive effect between N levels and cultivars on grain yield revealed that in Punjab Mehak l, grain yield responded significantly up to 60 kg/ha of N application as compared to Pusa Basmati 1121 and Punjab Basmati 2 where it responded only upto 40 kg/ha of N application. All the quality characteristic found to be improved with N application, whereas amylose content decreased with 60 kg/ha of N application as compared to 20 and 40 kg/ha of N application.展开更多

The internal factors are variations in wood anatomy, phytochemicals and agarwood of infraspecies G. versteegii. Of five local populations taken from West Lombok Island in Indonesia, the research areas are geographically located at coordinates: 8°15′-8°40′ South Latitude and 116°00′-116°20′East Longitude. Quality and quantity of agarwood production is influenced by internal factors of eaglewood trees, such as high starch production and the size of the cells making up the larger wood tissue. Infraspecies G. versteegii that have quality and quantity production of aromatic resin (the best agarwood) is Beringin group and the highest quantity of agarwood production (agarwood formation on the whole organ) is Soyun group.展开更多

Poor soil resources, scarce and saline water and the harsh environment limited the production of plants in the Arabian Gulf countries. This study aimed to investigate the production potential of rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) grown on different growth media under greenhouse conditions. Three growth media agricultural soil, compost and hydroponic system were used, whereas tuff (inert volcanic material) was used as substrate. The result indicated that the high salinity of the agricultural soil limited growth and oil yield in rosemary. Shoot height increased in 11 weeks, by 62%, 65% and 114% in plants grown in agricultural soil, hydroponic system and compost, respectively. Na content in plants grown in agricultural soil was significantly higher than in plants grown in the other treatment. Essential oil yield in plants grown in compost exceeded those in agricultural soil by 114%. Essential oil content (0.66%-1.5% w/w) and chemical constituents concentrations did not change significantly with growth media. The main constituents, more or less, are comparable to essential oils constituents reported from other countries. In comparison, better yields are obtained for individual components of the oils of plants grown under our green house conditions. This study demonstrated the great potential of commercial production of rosemary in the greenhouse without compromising the oil quality and oil yield.展开更多
