Plasmonic Ag nanowire homotrimer with asymmetrical radii and separations, which exhibits characteristics of multiple plamonic resonances and different electric field distributions, is systematically investigated by means of 2D finite element method. It was found that the dark and bright modes appear in asymmetrical nanowire homotrimer. In addition, when the dark modes appear between the smaller radii of the nanowires, the cascade effect results in enhanced electric field between the smaller radii nanowires. As a result of the appearance of the bright modes between the smaller radii of the nanowires, the restriction of the cascade effect generates enhanced electric field between the bigger nanowires. 展开更多

An experiment was carried out to examine the effects of light quality on the growth and development of antirrhinum under three different temperatures 19℃, 24℃ and 27℃ in glasshouses. Five different colour filters (i.e. 'Red absorbing', 'Blue absorbing', 'Blue and Red absorbing' and two 'partially Blue absorbing' materials) were tested, with one clear polythene as a control. Plant height, internode length and leaf area were significantly affected by the spectral filters as well as the temperature.Analysis of color filter's effect on presumed photoreceptors to exist indicated that antirrhinum plant height was regulated by the action of a blue acting photoreceptor (BAP) and not the phytochrome. There was no evidence for an effect ofphytochrome or BAP on time to flowering, however, increasing temperature levels effectively decreased the time to flowering. To predict the effects of different spectral qualities and temperature, simple models were created from data on plant height, internode length and time to flowering. These models were then applied to simulate the potential benefits of spectral filters and temperature in manipulation of growth control and flowering in antirrhinum. 展开更多

A new rare earth complex Tb(p-CIBA)3phen was synthesized and introduced into organic tight emitting devices (OLEDs) as emitting material. The Tb(p-CIBA)3phen was doped into PVK to improve the filmforming and hole-transporting property. Two kinds of devices were fabricated. The device structure is as the following. Single-layer device: ITO/PVK: Tb (p-CIBA) 3 phen /LiF/Al; double-layer device: ITO/PVK: Tb(p-CIBA)3phen/AIQ/LiF/AI. The performances of both devices were investigated carefully. We found that the emission of PVK was completely restrained,and only the green emission was observed from the electroluminescence. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) was less than 10 nm. The highest EL brighthess of the single-layer device is 25.4 cd/cm^2 at a fixed bias of 18 V,and the highest EL brightness of the double-layer device reaches 234.8 cd/cm^2 at a voltage of 20 V. 展开更多

This system was operated under a constant current of 20 mA for each unit,and the electric power consumption of the whole lamp was only 42 W. Experimental results demonstrated that the total average illuminance reached 8.8 lx and the overall uniformity was 0.370 for a 30-m-long and 10-m-wide test area at a height of 8 m,which is fully acceptable for the current standard for sub-main road. 展开更多

The CCD photometric observation of comet 103P/Hartley 2 with broadband optical filters was carried out at Xuyi Station of Purple Mountain Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences by use of Near Earth Object Telescope (NEOT). We monitored the comet from September 30 to November 4, 2010 and investigated the variation of activities. The Afp parameter derived from our r broadband data varies from 46.0 to 126.0 cm and increases with time. The dust production rate in terms of Afp was measured and a tentative calculation of the dust (or gas) loss-rate of nucleus was executed under the assumption that the nucleus of comet 103P/l-lartley 2 is spherical. The r-band image and the surface brightness profile taken on September 30, 2010 was measured and the gradient of surface brightness profile of 103P/Hartley 2 showed m 〈 -1.5, 展开更多
