Since bamboo has the advantages of straight grain, beautiful color, high strength and toughness, and excellent abrasion resistance, bamboo-based panels have been widely used in the fields of vehicle, construction, ship building, furniture, and decoration to partly take the place of wood, steel, plastic etc in China. This paper briefly described the basic component units, including strip, sliver, and particle, of bamboo-based panel and pointed out that to design the structure of bamboo-based panels should follow the principle of symmetric structure, surface forming method, and structuring principle of equalizing stress. According to the processing methods and formation of component units, the authors classified the bamboo-based panels in China into 13 types and presented the manufacturing technique and uses of the bamboo products, such as plybamboo, bamboo flooring, and bamboo-wood composite products in detail. In the last part of the paper, much information were offered on the output, market, and selling prospect of each type of bamboo-based panels. 展开更多

The sound absorption coefficients of wood and wood boards for five eucalypt species (Eucalyptus urophylla, Euca-lyptus urophylla E. grandis, Eucalyptus urophylla E. tereticornis, Eucalyptus urophylla E. camaldulensis and Eucalyptus cloeziana) that were collected from plantation in Dongmen Forestry Center of Guangxi Province, China were tested with stand-ing wave method and their sound absorption properties were also compared. The results showed that the sound absorption co-efficients of the five eucalypt wood species did not change evidently below 1000 Hz, but above 1000 Hz their sound absorption coefficients increased with the increasing frequency. The difference in sound absorption coefficient among five species of eucalypt wood is not evident at the tested frequency range (200-2000 Hz), but the sound absorption property of Eucalyptus urophylla at low frequency is better than that of other four species. The sound absorption coefficient of the tangential-sawn board is higher than that of the radial-sawn board. The sound absorption property of eucalypt wood of 0.5 cm in thickness is much better than that of 1.0 cm in thickness. It is concluded that wood sound absorption properties of eucalypts are affected by their board thickness and the type of sawn timber within the testing frequency, but the variance of wood sound absorption property among the five tested species is not significant. 展开更多

[Result] It was showed that the protein content of non-diapause pupae was from 111.768 to 115.030 7 mg/g and the change of protein content during whole pupal stage, while diapause pupae were from 81.218 to 131.623 7 mg/g and the change of protein content was not big from last ten-day period of October to last ten-day pariod of November, however, the content increased from the last ten-day period of November. The protein content of emerging adult was 296.969 3 mg/g. [Conclusion] The change of protein content was related to Papilio memnon at different development stage. 展开更多

[Objective]The paper was to study the effect of continuous cropping on leaf nutrient and growth of different species of poplar plantation.[Method] The tree height,diameter at breast height(DBH),volume of different generations and species of poplar plantation in poplar production area in northern Jiangsu Province,as well as TN,TP and TK content in their leaves were determined through field investigation and indoor experiment.[Result] With the increasing generation,the changes of TN,TP and TK content in the leaves of different ages of two varieties of forest stand were also different.However,with the increasing tree ages,TN,TP and TK contents in leaves showed decrease trend.With the increasing generation,the changes of tree height of I-69 and I-72 poplar showed the similar trend.The effect of increasing generation on tree height of 7-year-old and 10-year-old poplar was relatively stable,showing decrease trend from generation to generation.The tree height of 4-year-old poplar first increased and then decreased with the increasing generation.The changes of DBH along with different generations were basically consistent with the changes of tree height.With the increasing cultivation generations,the volume of 7-year-old and 10-year-old poplar decreased with significant difference.[Conclusion ] The result provided basis for rational fertilization and management of poplar plantation,improvement of productivity of poplar plantation,and achievement of sustainable management of plantation. 展开更多

Radial variation in sap flux density (SFD) as a function of sapwood thickness is of importance in accurately estimating sap flux through sapwood area which, in turn, decides the precision of heat pulse application. However, until now, only a few studies have evaluated the magnitude and significance of sampling errors associated with radial gradients in SFD, which were based on the small monitoring measurement data from a few trees. Based on one year of heat pulse observation of two 3 - 4 years old Eucalyptus urophylla S. T.,P Blake plantations in Leizhou Peninsula, Guangdong Province, China, a way of data processing was developed to treat with the lots of SFD data measured from 39 trees. It was found that the radial variation in SFD as a function of sapwood thickness in the two eucalyptus plantation sites could be expressed as y = 3. 667 5x(3) - 7.295 5x(2) + 3.682 6x + 0. 567 4 (R-2 = 0. 939 1, n = 80, P = 0.01), where y is the ratio of SFD of a sensor to the average of four data in different depths, x is the ratio of a sensor depth to tire radial sapwood thickness. It was the same (as in the following equation) in Jijia site, y = 5.006 2x(3) - 9.116 1x(2) + 4. 454 4x + 0.463 4 (R-2 = 0. 806 9, n = 72, P = 0.01) in Hetou site. From cambium to heartwood, SFD showed some increases at first and then decreases continuously. However, because die trees were very young, the maximum SFD was only 0. 33 - 0. 36 times more than the minimum. 展开更多

[ Objective ] The aim of the study was to explore the resistance development of deltamethrin through selection of dettamethrin resistant strain of wild silkworm ( Bombyx Mandarina), thus providing the basis for scientific pesticide application and resistance management. [ Method] The wild silkworms collected from three different regions were reared indoors, and the sensitivity of their parents to deltamethrin was detected by topical application. The larvae in each generation were treated with deltamethdn in median lethal dose or so by.topical application. The mortality of larva was analyzed for the establishment of toxicity regression equations and the calculation of the multiple or increased multiple of deltamethdn resistance.[Result] After the Qidong Bornbyx Mandarina (YQD) fed with mulberry leaves were selected for three generations indoors, the multiple of deltamethdn resistance of F, was 14.26, 1.2 times as great as that of Fo ; after the Bombyx Mandarina from mulberry garden of Soochow University (YSD) fed with mulberry leaves were selected for three generations indoors, the multiple of deltamethrin resistance of F4 was 16.48, 1.9 times as great as that of Fo ; after the Wujiang Bombyx Mandarina (YWJ) fed with artificial diets were selected for three generations indoors during six generations, the multiple of deltamethrin resistance of Fe was 18.67, 1.2 times as great as that of Fo. [ Conclusioa] With the selection in same dose, the resistance multiple of YSD increases more rapidly than that of YQD; under double selection of artificial diets and insecticide, the resistance multiple of YWJ increases more slowly than that of YQD. 展开更多

Aim To establish a method for differentiating commercial samples of Panax species including notoginseng, cultivated ginseng (Chinese ginseng and Korean ginseng), wild ginseng, red ginseng, three types of American ginsengs, and one American ginseng preparation with their HPLC fingerprints for assnrning the quality of different commercial samples of Panax species. Methods HPLC-UV method was used to establish their fingerprints, Zorbax Extend C18 (250 mm×4.6 mm, 5 μm) was used as the analytical column, and acetonitrile/KH2PO4 aqueous solution was used as the mobile phase with gradient elution. Results The fingerprints of different commercial samples of Panax species varied in their holistic chromatograms and some specific constituents. Dissolution Improvement of Cisapride by Solid Dispersion with HPMC

To prepare a solid dispersion of cisapride with hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose(HPMC E5 LV) as carrier for the purpose of accelerating the in vitro drug release by means ofimproving the solubility of the model drug. Methods Alcohol and simulated gastric fluid (SGF) wereused to dissolve cisapride and HPMC in order to make the model drug dispersed homogeneously in thecarrier. The HPMC-cisapride solid dispersion was then obtained by conventional solvent evaporationmethod. Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to measure the diffraction peaks of pure carrier,pure cisapride, physical mixture of HPMC with cisapride (4:1), and HPMC-cisapride solid dispersion(4:1) to confirm the crystal existence. The solubility of pure drug and HPMC-cisapride soliddispersion was measured with water, SGF and simulated intestinal fluid (SIF) . The in vitro drugreleases of the sustained release tablet prepared with pure cisapride or HPMC-cisapride soliddispersion were investigated with water and SGF as media, respectively. Results No diffraction peakswere found by X-ray diffraction in the HPMC-cisapride solid dispersion (4:1), indicating that thedrug existed in an amorphous form at that drug-carrier ratio. Compared with the pure drug, thesolubilities of HPMC-cisapride solid dispersion are increased by 239.4% in SGF, 132.6% in water, and117.9% in SIF. According to the in vitro drug release, the sustained release tablet prepared withHPMC-cisapride solid dispersion had a faster drug release than did that prepared with pure drug. Thein vitro drug release profiles were found to comply with Higuchi's rule. Conclusion The in vitrodrug release of the sustained release tablet made by HPMC-cisapride solid dispersion is improvedowing to the increased drug solubility. 展开更多

The determination of material formula needs try-and-error experiment,and consumes large amount of time and fund.In order to solve the problem,a comprehensive method is established,via the experiment of artificial-similar material formula of a mine slope.We controlled the samples by the compactness,and arranged the formula of the test group with the method of the uniform formula experiment.The physical and mechanical parameters of these samples were analyzed using the method of the partial least-squares regression(PLS).And a mathematical model of the indexes of physical and mechanics parameters relating to the factors of formulation constituents was established eventually.We used the model to analyze the effect of each formulation constituent on physical and mechanics parameters of samples.The experiment results and analysis illustrates that1)in the formulation of similar material,the effect of raw materials on the internal friction angleφand cohesion C is opposite;2)The method can highly facilitate the process of the of preparing artificial-similar materials,more economic and effective. 展开更多

The ZM-1 tissue microarrayer designed by our groups is manufactured in stainless steel and brass and contains many features that make TMA (tissue microarray) paraffin blocks construction faster and more convenient. By means of ZM-1 tissue microarrayer, biopsy needles are used to punch the donor tissue specimens respectively. All the needles with the punched specimen cylinders are arrayed into the array-board, with an array of small holes dug to fit the needles. All the specimen cylinders arraying and the TMA paraffin block shaping are finished in only one step so that the specimen cylinders and the paraffin of the TMA block can very easily be incorporated and the recipient paraffin blocks need not be made in advance, and the paraffin used is the same as that for conventional pathology purpose. ZM-1 tissue microarrayer is easy to be manufactured, does not need any precision location system, and so is much cheaper than the currently used instrument. Our method’s relatively cheap and simple ZM-1 tissue microarrayer technique of constructing TMA paraffin block may facilitate popularization of the TMA technology. 展开更多

A method utilizing variable depth increments during incremental forming was proposed and then optimized based on numerical simulation and intelligent algorithm.Initially,a finite element method(FEM) model was set up and then experimentally verified.And the relation between depth increment and the minimum thickness tmin as well as its location was analyzed through the FEM model.Afterwards,the variation of depth increments was defined.The designed part was divided into three areas according to the main deformation mechanism,with Di(i=1,2) representing the two dividing locations.And three different values of depth increment,Δzi(i=1,2,3) were utilized for the three areas,respectively.Additionally,an orthogonal test was established to research the relation between the five process parameters(D and Δz) and tmin as well as its location.The result shows that Δz2 has the most significant influence on the thickness distribution for the corresponding area is the largest one.Finally,a single evaluating indicator,taking into account of both tmin and its location,was formatted with a linear weighted model.And the process parameters were optimized through a genetic algorithm integrated with an artificial neural network based on the evaluating index.The result shows that the proposed algorithm is satisfactory for the optimization of variable depth increment. 展开更多

To investigate the bioactivity of the self- designed biodegradable osteosynthetic devices made of resorbable hydroxyapatite microparticles/ poly- DL- lactide (HA/PDLLA) composites. Method. Forty- three rabbits with a transverse transcondylar osteotomy of the distal femur were fixed intramedullary by a HA/PDLLA rod, the duration of follow- up were 3, 6, 12, 24 and 36 weeks. Histological, scanning electron microscopic (SEM), energy dispersive X- ray (EDX) and biomechanical analyses were done. Results. Active new bone formation and direct bone- bonding were seen at the bone- implant interface. Generous apatite crystals deposited and grew on the surface of the composites at 3~ 6 weeks postoperation. The interfacial shear strength increased significantly. Conclusion. Through the incorporating of resorbable HA microparticles, specific bone- bonding and active osteogenic capacity is introduced. This kind of bioactivity, together with other properties such as sufficient mechanical strength, enhanced biocompatibility and radiopacity, which are intrinsically unobtainable in totally resorbable polymer/polymer systems, make the HA/PDLLA composites become a desirable material for the internal fixation of cancellous bone. 展开更多

Permacol mesh has shown promise when used in abdominal wall repair,especially in the presence of a contaminated surgical field.This biomaterial,derived from porcine dermis collagen,has proposed advantages over synthetic materials due to increased biocompatibility and reduced foreign body reaction within human tissues.However,we present a case report describing a patient who displayed rejection to a Permacol mesh when used in the repair of abdominal wound dehiscence following an emergency laparotomy.Review of the English language literature using PubMed and Medline, showed only two previously published cases of explantation of Permacoldue to sepsis or wound breakdown. The authors believe this is the first case of severe foreign body reaction leading to rejection of Permacol.Both animal and human studies show conflicting evidence of biocompatibility.There are several reports of successful use of Permacolto repair complex incisional herniae or abdominal walls in the presence of significant contamination.It appears from the literature that Permacolis a promising material,but as we have demonstrated,it has the potential to evoke a foreign body reaction and rejection in certain subjects. 展开更多

The photo-reactions between metabolic products of human sweat and dyestuffs on garments may produce many toxic substances which could directly contact skin and threaten human health. In order to investigate the impact of the perspiration on photo-fading of reactive dyes on cellulose, nine commercial reactive dyes belonging to three types of chromophores (azo, Cu-complex azo and anthraquinone) respectively were chosen and their perspiration-light stability on cotton fabric was studied following ATTS test standard. It is found that the impact of the artificial perspiration on dyes varies with different chromophores: anthraquinone reactive dyes always show the best photo-stability, whereas Cu-complex azo reactive dyes appear to be the most sensitive under exposure to light and perspiration. The pH value of perspiration also greatly influences the fading of dyes with different reactive groups: the fading rate of most chlorotriazinyl reactive dyes in acidic perspiration (pH=3.5) is higher than in alkaline perspiration (pH=8.0), while the reverse is true for most vinylsulphonyl dyes. Furthermore, the study of the contribution of individual component of the artificial perspiration discloses that L-Histidine monohydrochloride monohydrate, DL-Aspartic acid and lactic acid play the major roles on the photo-fading of those selected dyestuffs and inorganic salts including disodium hydrogen phosphate and sodium chloride usually decelerate photo-fading. 展开更多

Objective:To implant 80 mm-long artificial esophagi constructed of biomaterial in dogs, observe the perioperative survival rates and the incidence of postoperative complications, and study the mechanisms of postoperative healing. Methods: Specimens of the implanted esophagus, the "neo-esophagi", were taken for histopathologic study 1, 3, 6, 12, 24 months after operation. Results: The incidence of anastomotic leakage after the artificial esophagus implantation was 3.33%. The perioperative survival rate was 96.67%. The incidence of postoperative stenosis in the "neo-esophagi" was 81.48%; the stenoses were treated by expanding with esophagoscopy and implanting a stent. Epithelization of the mucosa in the "neo-esophagi" was completed in 3 to 6 months after surgery Structures such as submucosal muscle layers, mucous glands, nerve fibers, capillaries, etc. were regenerated after 12 months, and then reconstruction of the fibrous connective tissue layer was completed. Conclusion: Implanting a biomaterial artificial esophagus accomplishes safe reconstruction of defects in the esophagus. Advanced cellular structure of "neo-esophagus" can be regenerated after 1 year. Postoperative stenosis, which is related to hyperplasia and retraction of scar tissue, is still the most common complications which limiting the clinical application of the artificial esophagus. 展开更多

Basic density (BD),microfibril angle (MFA), double fibre cell wall thickness (DWT), proportion of ray parenchyma (RP),unit cell wall shrinkage, total shrinkage and residual collapse, which are associated withcollapse-type shrinkage characteristics, were investigated by using simple regression method forthree species of collapse-susceptible Eucalyptus urophyll,, E. grandis and E. urophyllaxE.grandis,planted at Dong-Men Forest Farm in Guangxi autonomous region, China. The results indicated that:unit cell wall shrinkage had a extremely strong positive correlation with BD, moderately strongpositive correlation with DWT, and a weakly or moderately negative correlation with RP and MFA;total shrinkage was positively correlated with BD, DWT and RP and negatively related to MFA, but notable to be predicted ideally by any examined factors alone owing to lower R^2 value (R^2≤0.5712);residual collapse was negatively correlated with BD and DWT, linearly positively correlated withMFA, and had strongly positive linear correlation with RP.
