Based on sand bearing characteristic compliance control was introduced to control system in horizontal and vertical movement directions at the end of the robot, and position control in attitude. With Matlab/Simulink toolbox, the system control models were established, and the bearing characteristics of rigid ground, hard sand, soft sand and softer sand were simulated. The results show that 0,0.62,0.89 and 1.12 mm are the maximal subsidences of the four kinds of ground along the positive direction of x-axis,respectively,and 0,-0.96,-1.99 and -3.00 mm are the maximal subsidences along the negative direction of x-axis,respectively. Every subsidence along y-axis is negative, and 0,-4.12,-8.23 and -12.01 mm are the maximal subsidences of the four kinds of ground, respectively. Simulation results show that the subsidence of footboard points to inferior anterior in early stage of stand phase, while points to posterior aspect in late stage. The subsidence tends to point to posterior aspect in the whole. These results are basically consistent with the gait characteristics of human walking on sand. Gait simulation of the robot for human walking on sand is achieved.展开更多

The system segments the CT brain images into three partitions, i. e., abnormalities, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and brain matter. Our approach consists of two phase-segmentation methods. In the first phase segmentation, k-means and fuzzy cmeans (FCM) methods were implemented to segment and transform the images into the binary images. Based on the connected component in binary images, a decision tree was employed for the annotation of normal or abnormal regions. In the second phase segmentation, the modified FCM with population-diameter independent (PDI) segmentation was applied to segment the images into CSF and brain matter. The experimental results have shown that our proposed system is feasible and yield satisfactory results.展开更多

Ho...School decision makers are faced with a great many decisions when considering a school renovation or new school building. All stakeholders want a building that is safe and provides an optimal learning environment. However, it is often difficult to know which building features will have the greatest effect on student learning. Because of a limited understanding of the relationship between individual building features and student learning, researchers at the University of Oklahoma hope to explore how building components influence student and teacher performance. This paper explores the importance of school building features that can be designed and changed during a renovation project. The hope is to one day determine which features have the greatest impact on student test scores. The research team believes that although it is difficult to find the exact relationship between each building features and student outcomes with one study, if multiple users repeat the same or similar studies, hopefully we will one day know the effect of these building features. In order to develop feature building users survey and physical assessment tools, it was necessary for investigators to develop a list of important building features and their associated definitions in layman terms. This was accomplished through utilization and conducting of a CAB (community advisory board) and subject matter expert materials. In addition, previous research relating to different school building features and their associations with student performance were reviewed. To define and narrow the list the researchers, community educational, and building professionals rated based on their professional experience, how directly related each feature is to student performance. The building feature list serves as a starting point to determine which features should be analyzed in a later phase of the project. It is hoped that resulting tools based on the work of this project can be used by school decision-makers and researchers to access building features that have been identified through research as being important for student and teacher performance.展开更多

Innovation and progress of human civilization result from a change in our thinking patterns, thus, potentially transforming the present into a creative future. Accentuating the role of creativity in design even more than other disciplines pushes one to underpin the understanding of creativity as a key role player in architecture. Furthermore, by identifying the basic principles of our ingenuity/creativity, researchers might be able to enhance this ability in the future. A key point in "creativity" is the role of previously gained experiences, which cause expanding the inventory of experiences. According to accepted def'mition in different disciplines, creativity is no more than new combinations of previous ideas. The paper explores different effectual parameters correlated with creativity in architectural design including notion of conceptual blending, improbabilist and impossibilist creativity, tolerance of ambiguity and its correlation with creativity and creativity aided tools and interfaces. At the end, we suggest necessary experiments to obtain empirical results for some speculations that are discussed in the paper. Also, practical approaches will be suggested to apply the results in pedagogy of architecture.展开更多

In particular, stemming from the empirical research's evidences, this paper tries to conceptualize employer branding as a factor to persuade and influence the way that organizational actors enact in a socially constructed context. In this effort, the aim is to understand how managers may affect meanings, values goals, and opinions through an effective action on employer branding that can play a crucial role in affecting sense-making processes, meanings, interpretations of the symbolic environment. A remote sensed and controlled unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) path tracking test-bed was devel- oped and multiple UGV's tracking error signals were measured in the simulation for performance evaluation. Results show that with the same network bandwidth constraints, the proposed algorithm can reduce,, the accumulated and maximum errors of UGV path tracking by over 60% compared with the conventional static algorithm.展开更多

The object of analysis is the going concern opinion (GCO), widely considered as a bankruptcy warning signal to stakeholders. The sample is composed of 42 US listed financial companies that filed for Chapter 11 between 1998 and 2011. To highlight the differences between bankrupting and healthy firms, a matching sample composed of 42 randomly picked healthy US listed financial companies is collected. We concentrate on financial institutions, whereas the existing literature pays considerably greater attention to the industrial sector. This research imbalance is remarkable and particularly unexpected in the wake of recent financial scandals. Literature points out two main approaches on bankruptcy prediction: (1) purely mathematical; and (2) approaches based on a combination of auditor knowledge, expertise, and experience. The use of data mining techniques allows us to benefit from the best features of both approaches. Statistical tools used in the analysis are: Logit regression, support vector machines (SVMs), and an AdaBoost meta-algorithm. Findings show a quite low reliability of GCOs in predicting bankruptcy. It is likely that auditors consider further information in supporting their audit opinions, aside from financial-economic ratios. The scant predictive ability of auditors might be due to critical relationships with distressed clients, as suggested by recent literature.展开更多

Vygotsky (1896-1934) pursued the objective of reformulating psychological theory. His historical-cultural analysis of the "crisis in psychology" showed that, beyond contradictions between the two main methodological currents---"objective/explanatory" and "subjective/intuitive"--psychology is primarily influenced by its empirical-sensory foundations. This influence is actually at the origin of the disagreement since it maintains the obligation for the two currents to make reference to empirical-sensory data. Only a general model of the developing human being, assessed by its usefulness, will allow reorienting psychology towards a broader science. This would lead to a general theory of psychology, which could then facilitate the search for tools for an indirect method enabling it to go beyond empiricism.展开更多

Many companies which developed to a certain stage began to introduce performance management. But a lot of friends in human resources circles always hold a controversy on the effectiveness of performance management. In fact, there are problems on the methods and assessment scales. I personally think that a lot of companies use performance appraisal problem mainly occurs due to the presence misunderstanding the purpose of business resulting from the introduction of performance appraisal. For example: taking the wrong assessment methods, there is no breakdown of the work in advance, nor performed posts and responsibilities ; performance appraisal way to take a negative incentive, the employees complained of performance ; lack of strategic height of human resource management, performance appraisal that can not be linked with the actual situation. The following analysis of several performance evaluation methods and its influence is from the perspective of human resources. Each has its advantages and disadvantages, and also has different emphases. I want to share it with everyone and hope everyone can learn something from it.展开更多

The visualization of planning process allowing the comprehension of the possibilities contained in public landscape planning represents the main challenge faced by this research. Another important goal is to investigate how to overcome a paradigm related to a coded urban planning system communication that hinders community understanding and participation. This state of the art of the space production justifies the current studies in the geoprocessing for the development of tools, techniques and methodologies that meet the necessities to create interpretative pictures of the urban landscapes that facilitate the dialogue among the technician, the administrators and the community. The methodology was based on the cloud of points using Lidar techniques, 3D modeling, tools of visualization and parametric modeling of urban parameters. In this direction, this work will point out the new trends of representation of the data and the decoding of the cartographic language from the geo visualizers within the values of interoperability, involvement of the actors, feedback and proposals from geo design.展开更多

A remote sensed and controlled unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) path tracking test-bed was devel- oped and multiple UGV's tracking error signals were measured in the simulation for performance evaluation. Results show that with the same network bandwidth constraints, the proposed algorithm can reduce,, the accumulated and maximum errors of UGV path tracking by over 60% compared with the conventional static algorithm.
文摘This research measures the reliability of audit firms in predicting bankruptcy for United States (US) listed financial institutions. The scant predictive ability of auditors might be due to critical relationships with distressed clients, as suggested by recent literature.
文摘Throughout his work, Lev S. This would lead to a general theory of psychology, which could then facilitate the search for tools for an indirect method enabling it to go beyond empiricism.
文摘Performance appraisal is one of the commonly used modern human resource management tools. I want to share it with everyone and hope everyone can learn something from it.
文摘This work aims at making one brief contextualization on the state of the art of the geoprocessing in urban planning to present the new paradigms and challenges of the geo technologies related to the management of the cities. In this direction, this work will point out the new trends of representation of the data and the decoding of the cartographic language from the geo visualizers within the values of interoperability, involvement of the actors, feedback and proposals from geo design.
