The method integrates the multiple model (MM) filter with an unsc...In this study, an unscented particle filtering method based on an interacting multiple model (IMM) frame for a Markovian switching system is presented. The method integrates the multiple model (MM) filter with an unscented particle filter (UPF) by an interaction step at the beginning. The framework (interaction/mixing, filtering, and combination) is similar to that in a standard IMM filter, but an UPF is adopted in each model. Therefore, the filtering performance and degeneracy phenomenon of particles are improved. The filtering method addresses nonlinear and/or non-Gaussian tracking problems. Simulation results show that the method has better tracking performance compared with the standard IMM-type filter and IMM particle filter.展开更多

In this paper, we use a new optical hand tracking sensor, LeapMotion, to perform a non-contact demonstration for robotic systems. A Multi-LeapMotion hand tracking system is developed. The setup of the two sensors is analyzed to gain a optimal way for efficiently use the informations from the two sensors. Meanwhile, the coordinate systems of the Mult-LeapMotion hand tracking device and the robotic demonstration system are developed. With the recognition to the element actions and the delay calibration, the fusion principles are developed to get the improved and corrected gesture recognition. The gesture recognition and scenario experiments are carried out, and indicate the improvement of the proposed Multi-LeapMotion hand tracking system in tabletop object manipulation task for robotic demonstration.展开更多

Considering that cluster-based met...We present a novel unsupervised integrated score framework to generate generic extractive multi- document summaries by ranking sentences based on dynamic programming (DP) strategy. Considering that cluster-based methods proposed by other researchers tend to ignore informativeness of words when they generate summaries, our proposed framework takes relevance, diversity, informativeness and length constraint of sentences into consideration comprehensively. We apply Density Peaks Clustering (DPC) to get relevance scores and diversity scores of sentences simultaneously. Our framework produces the best performance on DUC2004, 0.396 of ROUGE-1 score, 0.094 of ROUGE-2 score and 0.143 of ROUGE-SU4 which outperforms a series of popular baselines, such as DUC Best, FGB [7], and BSTM [10].展开更多
A hybrid Stochastic Fractal Search plus Pattern Search (hSFS-PS) based cascade PI-PD controller is suggested in this paper for Automatic Generation Control (AGC) of thermal, hydro and gas power unit based power sy...A hybrid Stochastic Fractal Search plus Pattern Search (hSFS-PS) based cascade PI-PD controller is suggested in this paper for Automatic Generation Control (AGC) of thermal, hydro and gas power unit based power systems in presence of Plug in Electric Vehicles (PEV). Firstly, a single area multi-source power system consisting of thermal hydro and gas power plants is considered and parameters of Integral (I) controller is optimized by Stochastic FractaI Search (SFS) algorithm. The superiority of SFS algorithm over some recently proposed approaches such as optimal control, differential evolution and teaching learning based optimization techniques is demonstrated by comparing simulation results for the identical power system. To improve the system performance further, Pattern Search (PS) is subsequently employed. The study is further extended for different controllers like PI, PID, and cascaded PI-PD controller and the superiority of cascade PI-PD controller over conventional controllers is demonstrated. Then, cascade PI- PD controller parameters of AGC searched using the proposed hSFS-PS algorithm in presence of plug in electric vehicles. The study is also extended to an interconnected power system. It is seen from the comparative analysis that hSFS-PS tuned PI-PD controller in single and multi-area with multi sources improves the system frequency stability in complicated situations. Lastly, a three area interconnected system with PEVs with dissimilar cascade PI-PD controller in each area is considered and proposed hSFS- PS algorithm is used to tune the controller parameters in presence of nonlinearities like rate constraint of units, dead zone of governor and communication delay.展开更多

Our goal is to use online evolutionary learning to design strategies that can defeat the opponent. This pape...Construction of Covering Arrays (CA) with minimum possible number of rows is challenging. Often the available CA have redundant combinatorial interaction that could be removed to reduce the number of rows. This paper addresses the problem of removing redundancy of CA using a metaheuristic post- optimization (MPO) approach. Our approach consists of three main components: a redundancy detector (RD); a row reducer (RR); and a missing-combinations reducer (MCR). The MCR is a metaheuristic component implemented using a simulated annealing algorithm. MPO was instantiated with 21,964 CA taken from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) repository. It is a remarkable result that this instantiation of MPO has delivered 349 new upper bounds for these CA.展开更多
