Breeding of a New Peanut Variety Shanghua No.6 with High Shelling Percentage and Big Fruit

Shanghua No.6, a new peanut variety with high shelling percentage and bigfruit, was bred through sexual hybridization(female parent Pukehua No.2 × male parent Yuanza 9102) by Shangqiu Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences. In the big peanut regional tests in north China in 2011-2012, Shanghua No.6 had the average yield of pod and seed respectively of 4 695.30 kg/hm^2 and 3 514.73 kg/hm^2;in the production test in 2013, its average yield of pod and seed were 4 531.0 5kg/hm^2 and 3 312.15 kg/hm^2. Its crude fat content was 50.46-53.46%, oleic acid content was 50.9-51.7%, and oil oleic acid/linoleic acid value was 1.69-1.76. The variety was high-resistant to brown spot and focal spot, susceptible to black spot,resistant to net blotch and stem rot. Its 100-pod weight was 256.2 g, 100-seed weight 111.2 g, and shelling percentage was 74.75%. The variety was certificated by National Crop Variety Approval Committee in 2014(identification number:2014010), which was suitable for planting in Shandong, Henan, Hebei, Liaoning,Beijing, north of Huaihe River in Jiangsu and Anhui provinces. 展开更多

[ Method ] Genome sequence of Arabidopsis thalianan was screened by using bioinformatics methods, and the sequence structure, organization form and function of typical candidate gene were analyzed. [ Result] The identified snR95 box H/ACA snoRNA had conservative component and structural features of box C/D snoRNA family, possessed two more than 10 nt long rRNA antisense elements. The result revealed that the novel snoRNA is a partial counterpart of the rice Z270, named box C/D snoRNA -AthZ270. [ Conclusion ] Z270 snoRNA in Arabidopsis thalianan has different function with common snoRNA. 展开更多

The nucleolus is the most prominent compartment in the nucleus and known as the site for ribosome biogenesis in eucaryotes. In contrast, there is no such equivalent structure for ribosome synthesis in procaryotes. This raises two concerns that how does the nucleolus evolve and that whether the nucleolus remains playing a single role in ribosome biogenesis along the evolution. Increasing data support new nucleolus functions, including signal recognition particle assembly, small RNA modification, telomerase maturation, cell-cycle and aging control, and cell stress sensor. Multiple functions of the nucleolus possibly result from the plurifunctionality of nucleolar proteins, such as nucleolin and Nopp 140. Proteomic analyses of human and Arabidopsis nucleolus lead a remarkable progress in understanding the evolution and new functions of nucleoli. In this review, we present a brief history of nucleolus research and new concepts and unresolved questions. Also, we introduce hepatitis D virus for studying the communication between the nucleolus and other subnuclear compartments, and Caenorhabditis elegans for the role of nucleolus in the development and the epistatic control of nucleologenesis. 展开更多

Nucleolar channel system (NCS) appeared in the endometrial epithelial cells during the early and mid secretory phase of menstrual cycle. The NCS was a hollow ball like structure of different sizes and was composed of 2 to 5 rows of tubules embedded in an amorphous matrix. On its surface there were numerous electron dense particles resembling ribosonies. It was usually located within or associated with the nucleolus. Sometimes, it was close to the nuclear envelope or protruding out from the nucleus. On occasion, NCS with simplified structure was found in the perinuclear cytoplasm. Concepts concerning the genesis, involution and function(s) of the NCS were discussed. 展开更多

To date the mainstay of therapy for advanced disease has been chemotherapy with little incremental im-provements in outcome. Despite extensive research investigating new treatment options the current practices continue to utilise fluorouracil or gemcitabine containing combinations. The need for novel the-rapeutic approaches is mandated by the ongoing poor survival rates associated with this disease. One such approach may include manipulation of ribosome biogenesis and the nucleolar stress response, which has recently been applied to haematological malignancies such as lymphoma and prostate cancer with promising results. This review will focus on the current therapeutic options for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and the complexities associated with developing novel treatments, with a particular emphasis on the role of the nucleolus as a treatment strategy. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE:This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of Amomum villosum on longitudinal bone growth.METHODS:Adolescent female Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 3 groups and treated for 4 days:control(distilled water,p.o.),recombinant human growth hormone(rhGH;100 μg/kg,s.c.),and A.villosum(500 mg/kg,p.o.) groups.On day 3,tetracycline(20 g/kg,i.p.) was injected for growth plate identification.On days 2,3 and 4,5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine(BrdU)(50 mg/kg,i.p.) was injected to label proliferating cells.On day 5,tibias were dissected and fixed in 4% paraformaldehyde,dehydrated,and sectioned for immunohistochemistry and histomorphometry.RESULTS:The rate of bone growth in the A.villosum and rhGH groups increased to(410 ± 44) and(389 ± 46) μm/day(P<0.01),respectively,as compared with the control(330.7 ± 34.7) μm/day.The thickness of the growth plates also increased to(591 ± 37) and(598 ± 32) μm,respectively,as compared with the control(524± 89) μm(P<0.001).The number of BrdU-positive cells in the chondrocytes of the A.villosum and rhGH groups was also significantly higher(126±24) and(143±18) cells/mm 2,respectively) than in the control(109 ± 25) mm 2(P<0.05).Insulin-like growth factor-1 and bone morphogenetic protein-2 in the A.villosum and rhGH groups were highly expressed in the growth plate as compared with the control samples,indicating increased bone formation.CONCLUSIONS:A.villosum could be used to treat growth retardation during adolescence. 展开更多

The Rangeland Livestock Carrying Capacity and Stocking Rate in the Kailash Sacred Landscape in China 被引量:3

Maintaining the health and productivity of rangelands by controlling the livestock stocking rate to remain within carrying capacity is of significance to ensure sustainable management of rangeland ecosystems. But we know little about the safe carrying capacity in particular rangeland landscapes. This has hampered efforts to use rangelands in a risk-averse manner in fluctuating rainfall environments, and especially in arid and semiarid areas. To address this lack of information, we took Kailash Sacred Landscape in China(KSL-China) as our study site and used remote sensing data, meteorological data and statistical data from 2000 to 2015 to analyze rangeland carrying capacity, stocking rate, and major influencing factors. Rangeland carrying capacity presented an increasing trend, while stocking rate was gradually decreasing, resulting in an increase of carrying rate in the study area. The increased carrying capacity was closely related to increased rainfall. Stocking rate declined owing to government regulations, particularly implementation in 2004 of the national policy of Returning Grazing Land to Grassland. There was a sharp reduction of livestock number below 200 000 standard sheep units(SU) after 2005. The decrease of stocking rate had a stronger effect on rangeland carrying rate than did the increase of carrying capacity. Ecosystem restoration programs have provided subsidies to pastoralists to encourage them to reduce livestock numbers. Our findings suggest that a safe rangeland carrying capacity is ca. 170 000 SU in KSL-China. There is a carrying capacity surplus of ca. 50 000 SU for safe animal husbandry development in the study area. More importantly, future climate warming and increases in grazing may jointly play a key role in affecting rangeland carrying capacity. 展开更多
