The key factors affecting the methylene blue (MB) oxidation efficiency were investigated, including the initial concentration of MB, pH value and catalyst concentration. The results show that the obtained OMPT has high thermal stability and shows a 2D hexagonal mesostructure with the small particle size and high surface area, which lead to higher degradation efficiency than commercial P25 or nanoparticle TiO2 (NPT) fabricated by sol-gel process. The optimal conditions are 5 mg/L MB, pH 6 and 1.5 g/L OMPT for the fastest rate of MB degradation. Total organic carbon (TOC) analysis indicates complete mineralization of MB in 240 min by OMPT, with rate constant higher than NPT or P25.展开更多

The crystalline phase, morphology and porous structure were characterized respectively by different detecting techniques. The results reveal that the particles are highly crystalline hydroxyapatite phase. The surfactant has little influence on the morphology of the crystals, but affects the porous structure obviously. The sample without CTAB has a low surface area not exceeding 33 m^2/g, and no distinct pores can be observed by TEM. While the samples obtained with the surfactant get better parameters. Numerous open-ended pores centered at 2-7 nm spread unequally on the surface of the hydroxyapatite nanorods. The N2 adsorption-desorption experiments show type IV isotherms with distinct hysteresis loops, illustrating the presence of mesoporous structure. When the mole ratio of CTAB to HA is 1:2, the sample has the largest surface area of 97.1 m^2/g and pore volume of 0.466 cm^3/g.展开更多

A small, inexpensive nonsurfactant, triethanolamine, was used as the template. The template was removed by thermal treatment in air and supercritical fluid extraction using CO2. The structure of the resulting materials was characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and N2 adsorption-desorption analyses. The materials are found to have narrowly distributed average pore diameters and wormhole-like pore channels. However, higher surface area and larger pore volume are exhibited after supercritical fluid extraction with CO2. The removal of the template by thermal treatment also leads to condensation and mild shrinkage of the zirconia framework.展开更多

The resultant samples were characterized by using different methods such as the X-ray diffractometry, the transmission electron microscopy, the nitrogen adsorption-desorption analysis and the solid MAS NMR. The results showed that the prepared mesoporous γ-alumina had high surface area and uniform pore size distribution, and its specific surface area and the pore size could be tuned by changing the pH value of the starting solution.展开更多

The ability to construct porous TiO2 with controlled particle size and narrowed bandgap is an essential requirement for the design of highly efficient and recyclable photocatalysts. Here, we report a template- free acetic acid induced method for the synthesis of visible- light responsive carbon-doped TiO2 microplates with high crystallinity and mesoporous structure. It is shown that the electron-withdrawing bidentate carboxylate ligands derived from acetic acid can narrow the bandgap of TiO2 (1.84 eV) substantially. Moreover, the resultant microplate photo- catalysts exhibit excellent photocatalytic efficiency and solid-liquid separation performance, which will be bene- ficial for future industrial applications.展开更多

During the composite electrodeposition process, the hydrophobic PS microspheres were highly dispersed in the electrolyte with the help of a surfactant, and then co-deposited with Ni to form the film electrode. After removing the PS templates by annealing, a porous Ni film containing large amount of uniformly dispersed pores with narrow size distribution was obtained, and then applied as the electrode for the HER in an alkaline medium. As evidenced by the electrochemical analysis, the porous Ni film electrode exhibits higher catalytic activity as compared to a dense Ni film electrode and is superior to a Ni/Ru O2/Ce O2 commercial electrode. The effect of temperature on the catalytic properties of the porous Ni film electrode was also investigated; the activation energy was calculated as 17.26 k J/mol. The enhanced activity toward the HER was attributed to the improved electrochemical surface area and mass transportation facilitated by the high porosity of the synthesized Ni film electrode.展开更多
