(PEO)8LiClO4-SiO2 composite polymer electrolytes(CPEs)were prepared by in-situ reaction,in which ethyl-orthosilicate(TEOS)was catalyzed by HCl and NH3.H2O,respectively.The ionic conductivity,the contact angle and the morphology of inorganic particles in the CPEs were investigated by AC impedance spectra,contact angle method and TEM.The conductivities of acid-catalyzed CPE and alkali-catalyzed CPE are 2.2×10-5and 1.1×10-5S/cm respectively at 30℃.The results imply that the catalyst plays an important role in the structure of in-situ preparation of SiO2,and influences the surface energy and conductivity of CPE films directly.Meanwhile,the ionic conductivity is related to the surface energy. 展开更多

Chemically modified carbonaceous materials have attained utmost attention in the fields of renewable energy storage and conversion,due to the controllable physicochemical properties,tailorable micro-/nanostructures,and respectable stability.Herein,P-doped mesoporous carbons were synthesized by using F127 as the soft template,organophosphonic acid as the P source and phenolic resin as the carbon source.Small amounts of iron species were introduced to act as a graphitization catalyst.The synthesized carbons exhibit the well-defined wormhole-like pore structure featuring high specific surface area and homogenously doped P heteroatoms.Notably,introducing iron species during the synthesis process can optimize the textural properties and the degree of graphitization of carbon materials.The doping amount of P has an important effect on the porous structure and the defect degree,which correspondingly influence the active sites and the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)activity.The resultant material presents superior catalytic activity for the ORR,together with remarkably enhanced durability and methanol tolerance in comparison with the commercial Platinum catalyst,demonstrating the possibility for its use in electrode materials and electronic nanodevices for metal-air batteries and fuel cells. 展开更多

Physical and chemical properties of electric arc furnace (EAF) dust from Tianjin seamless Pipe Company were measured and analyzed. The zinc leaching tests in alkaline medium were carried out under variation of leaching agent concentration, leaching temperature, leaching cumulative time and solid-to-liquid ratio. The thermodynamics and kinetics of the zinc leaching process were also analyzed. The results show that the EAF dust contains 10% (mass fraction) zinc and the median particle size is 0.69 μm. The zinc recovery of 73.4% is obtained tinder the condition of 90 ℃, 6 mol/L NaOH, and 60 min leaching time. With the increase of concentration of NaOH and the cumulative time, zinc leaching will be significantly increased. The kinetics study demonstrates that the leaching reaction is chemically controlled and the reaction activation energy is 15.73 kJ/mol. 展开更多

In this work, we discussed the stochastic thermodynamics of mesoscopic electron transfer reactions between ions and electrodes. With a relationship between the reaction rate con- stant and the electrode potential, we find that the heat dissipation βq equals to the dynamic irreversibility of the reaction system minus an internal entropy change term. The total en- tropy change Ast is defined as the summation of the system entropy change As and the heat dissipation/βq such that △st=△s+βq. Even though the heat dissipation depends linearly on the electrode potential, the total entropy change is found to satisfy the fluctuation theo- rem 〈e-△st 〉=1, and hence a second law-like inequality reads (△st)≥0. Our study provides a practical methodology for the stochastic thermodynamics of electrochemical reactions, which may find applications in biochemical and electrochemical reaction systems. 展开更多

NanocrystallineCuo5Zno5Fe2-xAlxO2(x=0.0,0.1,0.2,0.3,0.45 and 0.5) ferrite materials were synthesized using standard solid state reaction technique. The effects of Al3+ contents on the structural, electrical, and magnetic properties were investigated. Single phase cubic spinel structure was revealed by X-ray diffraction analysis. The crystallite size was evaluated considering the most intense diffraction peak (311) using Scherrer formula. Lattice constant decreased, whereas porosity increased with the increase in Al3+ concentration. The value of saturation magnetization decreased with increasing aluminum contents. Temperature dependent value of direct current electrical resistivity has been determined. It is observed that the substitution of Al3+ has significant impact on the dielectric constant, tangent of dielectric loss angle and dielectric loss factor. The variation in dielectric properties was attributed to space charge polarization. 展开更多

Effect of Microwave Radiation on Dielectric Behavior of Two Vegetable Oils

The effect of microwave (MW) heating on the dielectric properties and oxidation processes of virgin olive oil and refined sunflower oil were determined by dielectric and UV- spectroscopy. Samples were heated in the microwave oven (850 W, 2.450 MHz) for 0 to 14 minutes. The results show degradation of dielectric characteristics, conductivity and oxidative stability of investigated oils, increasing with the exposure time. UV spectrum shows only one defined peak at 206 nm for olive oil confirming the dominant presence of monounsaturated fats and four peaks for sunflower oil (203 nm, 230 nm, 269 nm and 278 nm) dependent on polyunsaturated acid fats contents. Increasing of absorbance at all peak wave lengths indicates production of lipid oxidation, due to formation of conjugated monoenes and dienes and in small amounts due to trienes and secondary products like ketoaldehydes. Dielectric constant for olive oil is stable and almost unchangeable with MW radiation while sunflower oil's c' oscillates around the origin value in greater rate. Dielectric loss e" decreases with increasing time of MW radiation and its maximum shifts towards higher frequencies for sunflower oil indicating shortening of the relaxation times, while for olive oil it is unchanged. Cole-Cole analysis show the presence of only one relaxation process in the oils. Conductivity of oils is increasing in similar way with increasing frequency following the Jonscher's power law and is not changed with MW exposure time. Olive oil has conductivity higher for four orders of magnitude than sunflower oil, which is connected to the high content of monounsaturated fats. The differences between sunflower and olive oil characteristics are discussed. 展开更多

In this study,the electrochemical behavior of Pd(II)in nitric acid media was investigated using various electrochemical techniques.By analyzing the cyclic voltammogram of Pd(II)recorded at Pt electrode,a series of electrochemical reactions associated with palladium were recognized,indicating that Pd(II)undergoes a single step two-electrons irreversible process.Electroreduction reaction of Pd(II)and auto-catalytic reactions of nitrous acid are supposed to play a leading role in low and high concentrations of nitric acid,respectively.Stirring could facilitate the reduction of Pd(II)in relatively low nitric acid concentration(3 mol/L).The value of charge transfer coefficient was determined to be 0.18 for the measurements at 298 K.The diffusion coefficient of Pd(II)increased from 1.89×10 8cm2/s at 288 K to 4.23×10 8cm2/s at 318 K,and the activation energy was calculated to be 21.5 kJ/mol.In electrowinning experiments,SEM images of palladium obtained by electrolysis reveal the dendrite growth in all cases,which is uniform all over the entire surface of Pt electrode.The recovery ratios of Pd at different nitric acid concentrations are high,and the faradic efficiency of electrolysis decreases with increasing the nitric acid concentration.When stirring was introduced during electrolysis,the electrodeposition rate of Pd increased substantially. 展开更多

NiCo2O4 nanosheets with sheaf-like nanostructure morphologies have been synthesized by a facile one-step hydrothermal reaction followed by annealing treatment. Impressively, the NiCo2O4 nanosheets exhibit rapid detection of eugenol. The linear range of detection is from 1-500μM, and the limit of detection is 5.4 μM. The NiCo2O4 modified electrode demonstrated high sensitivity, good repeatability and reproducibility, and long-term stability (7% decrease in response over 30 days). Based on this work, an electrochemical reaction mechanism for eugenol oxidation was proposed, and in addition, the NiCo2O4 modified electrode was successfully employed for the analysis of eugenol in medicative balm samples. Recovery values for eugenol in medicative balm samples were in the range 98.7%-105.5%. 展开更多

It involves complex multi-component exothermal chemical reaction in catalyst-filled porous media. The lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) is developed to simulate the characteristics of fluid flow, heat and mass transfer coupling chemical reaction in the exothermic reactor of the isopropanol/acetone/hydrogen chemical heat pump system. Fractal theory is used to structure a porous medium model in the reactor. The simulation results show that LBM is suitable for the simulation and the conversion has an optimal value with different inlet velocities. 展开更多
