In a high percent age of patients, acute infections become chronic, eventually progressing to fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Given the lack of effective prophylactic or therapeutic vaccines, and the limited sustained virological response rates to current therapies, new approaches are needed to prevent, control, and clear HCV infection.Entry into the host cell, being the first step of the viral cycle, is a potential target for the design of new antiviral compounds. Despite the recent discovery of the tight junction-associated proteins claudin-1 and occludin as HCV co-receptors, which is an important step towards the understanding of HCV entry, the precise mechanisms are still largely unknown. In addition, increasing evidence indicates that tools that are broadly employed to study HCV infection do not accurately reflect the real process in terms of viral particle composition and host cell phenotype. Thus, systems that more closely mimic natural infection are urgently required to elucidate the mechanisms of HCV entry, which will in turn help to design antiviral strategies against this part of the infection process.展开更多

Nitroglycerine was used...To investigate the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of garlicin for treatment of unstable angina pectoris (UAP), garlicin injectio was intravenously dripped 60 mg/day in 34 cases for 10 days. Nitroglycerine was used in 21 cases of the control group. The results showed that the total effective rates in improving symptoms and electrocardiogram after garlicin treatment were respectively 82% and 62%, and that the plasma endothelin and blood sugar levels were markedly lowered in cases with hyperglycemia.展开更多
Predicting protein functions is an important issue in the post-genomic era. This paper studies several network-based kernels including local linear embedding (LLE) kernel method, diffusion kernel and laplacian kerne...Predicting protein functions is an important issue in the post-genomic era. This paper studies several network-based kernels including local linear embedding (LLE) kernel method, diffusion kernel and laplacian kernel to uncover the relationship between proteins functions and protein-protein interactions (PPI). The author first construct kernels based on PPI networks, then apply support vector machine (SVM) techniques to classify proteins into different functional groups. The 5-fold cross validation is then applied to the selected 359 GO terms to compare the performance of different kernels and guilt-by-association methods including neighbor counting methods and Chi-square methods. Finally, the authors conduct predictions of functions of some unknown genes and verify the preciseness of our prediction in part by the information of other data source.展开更多

It is proved that if two FBDSDEs are linked by a bridge, then they have the same unique ...The notion of bridge is introduced for systems of coupled forward-backward doubly stochastic differential equations (FBDSDEs). It is proved that if two FBDSDEs are linked by a bridge, then they have the same unique solvability. Consequently, by constructing appropriate bridges, we obtain several classes of uniquely solvable FBDSDEs. Finally, the probabilistie interpretation for the solutions to a class of quasilinear stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) combined with algebra equations is given. One distinctive character of this result is that the forward component of the FBDSDEs is coupled with the backvzard variable.展开更多
