With the help of the structures, crash kinetic-energy can b...For the safety protection of passengers when train crashes occur, special structures are crucially needed as a kind of indispensable energy absorbing device. With the help of the structures, crash kinetic-energy can be completely absorbed or dissipated for the aim of safety. Two composite structures(circumscribed circle structure and inscribed circle structure) were constructed. In addition, comparison and optimization of the crashworthy characteristic of the two structures were carried out based on the method of explicit finite element analysis(FEA) and Kriging surrogate model. According to the result of Kriging surrogate model, conclusions can be safely drawn that the specific energy absorption(SEA) and ratio of specific energy absorption to initial peak force(REAF) of circumscribed circle structure are lager than those of inscribed circle structure under the same design parameters. In other words, circumscribed circle structure has better performances with higher energy-absorbing ability and lower initial peak force. Besides, error analysis was adopted and the result of which indicates that the Kriging surrogate model has high nonlinear fitting precision. What is more, the SEA and REAF optimum values of the two structures have been obtained through analysis, and the crushing results have been illustrated when the two structures reach optimum SEA and REAF.展开更多

Among various types of precarious employment, insuranc...The purpose of this study is to understand limitations and possibilities of organizing independent contractors by focusing on insurance solicitors in South Korea. Among various types of precarious employment, insurance solicitors are an exemplar case of independent contractor jobs in Korea. According to the narrow interpretation on the employment relationship by the courts, the labor standard law does not treat insurance solicitors as workers. And, most of insurance solicitors are not affiliated with labor unions. As a result, insurance solicitors are outside labor protections. Under this context, insurance solicitors attempted to organize their own union--Korean Insurance Agents' Union (KIAU) in the early 2000s, and turned it into a branch of Korean Finance and Service Workers' Union (KFSWU) in 2004. However, the KIAU lost its membership rapidly since the mid-2000s and has failed to revitalize itself until now. So, in this study, the author focuses on the changes in the employment structure behind the growth of the insurance industry in the private sector and the reason why union organizing of independent contractors was not successful.展开更多

The goal of the article is to identify the role of control in the transformation process and its impact on ensuring knowledge continuity within the organization. With SWAO method as the clue,the following technologies were studied:the method of concept extraction based on semantic term mining,agent ontology construction method on account of multi-points and the answer extraction in view of semantic inference. Meanwhile,the structural model of the question answering system applying ontology was presented,which adopts OWL language to describe domain knowledge from where QA system infers and extracts answers by Jena inference engine. In the system testing,the precision rate reaches 86%,and the recalling rate is 93%. The experimental results prove that it is feasible to use the method to develop a question answering system,which is valuable for further study in more depth.展开更多

The methylation and cyclization...The ubiquitous occurrence of branched glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers(br GDGTs) in soils has allowed development of new proxies for reconstruction of past climate and environment. The methylation and cyclization degrees of br GDGTs, expressed as MBT and CBT, respectively, are reported to be mainly controlled by mean annual air temperature(MAAT) and soil p H. However, the br GDGT-derived temperatures and soil p H scatter widely when data from different environmental conditions are considered. In this study, we collected over 300 soil samples from China, which are representative of humid(Xishuangbanna, Guangzhou, and Shanghai), semi-arid(Dongying) and semi-arid/arid(Lanzhou, Tibetan Plateau) regions. Collectively we have the most extensive dataset that broadly characterizes the distribution of br GDGTs according to climate zones in China. The overall data demonstrate that the MBT/CBT derived temperatures better match the measured MAATs in humid and non-alkaline regions than those from regions of low MAP(<400 mm/yr) and above neutral soil p H(>7.0–7.5). Similarly, CBT describes soil p H much better in humid and non-alkaline soils than in semi-arid/arid and alkaline soils; the semi-arid/arid and alkaline soils tend to show a positive correlation between soil p H and CBT, which contradicts that in the humid and non-alkaline soils. While soil p H, MAAT and mean annual precipitation(MAP) are dominating factors controlling the br GDGT distribution across all climate zones, conductivity, total organic carbon and total nitrogen, as well as soil water content can also play an important role locally. Removing br GDGT-II resulted in a revised CBT index that provides more accurate estimation of p H, especially in semi-arid/arid and alkaline soils. The overall Chinese dataset demonstrates that continental air temperature derived from br GDGT-proxies can vastly deviate from real measurements and should be used with extreme caution in paleo-climate or-environment studies.展开更多
This study proposed a quenching protocol for metabolite analysis of Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp.bulgaricus.Microbial cells were quenched with 60% methanol/water,80% methanol/glycerol,or 80% methanol/water.The effe...This study proposed a quenching protocol for metabolite analysis of Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp.bulgaricus.Microbial cells were quenched with 60% methanol/water,80% methanol/glycerol,or 80% methanol/water.The effect of the quenching process was assessed by the optical density(OD)-based method,flow cytometry,and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS).The principal component analysis(PCA) and orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA) were employed for metabolite identification.The results indicated that quenching with 80% methanol/water solution led to less damage to the L.bulgaricus cells,characterized by the lower relative fraction of prodium iodide(PI)-labeled cells and the higher OD recovery ratio.Through GC-MS analysis,higher levels of intracellular metabolites(including focal glutamic acid,aspartic acid,alanine,and AMP) and a lower leakage rate were detected in the sample quenched with 80% methanol/water compared with the others.In conclusion,we suggested a higher concentration of cold methanol quenching for L.bulgaricus metabolomics due to its decreasing metabolite leakage.展开更多
