In order to guarantee the overall production performance of the multiple departments in an air-condition production industry, multidisciplinary design optimization model for production system is established based on t...In order to guarantee the overall production performance of the multiple departments in an air-condition production industry, multidisciplinary design optimization model for production system is established based on the multi-agent technology. Local operation models for departments of plan, marketing, sales, purchasing, as well as production and warehouse are formulated into individual agents, and their respective local objectives are collectively formulated into a multi-objective optimization problem. Considering the coupling effects among the correlated agents, the optimization process is carried out based on self-adaptive chaos immune optimization algorithm with mutative scale. The numerical results indicate that the proposed multi-agent optimization model truly reflects the actual situations of the air-condition production system. The proposed multi-agent based multidisciplinary design optimization method can help companies enhance their income ratio and profit by about 33% and 36%, respectively, and reduce the total cost by about 1.8%.展开更多

While the students are learning, their learning is far from ideal or from what the lecturers had intended. Ramsden's findings suggest that there are different levels of learning and that the majority of students are not attaining the level that lecturer's judge to be of value. Learning the English language can be fun through the use of a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Obviously, the trend nowadays is the application of modern technology. Students can now get learning applications on their mobile phones, IPhones, IPads, and ITouch to widen their vocabulary and to increase their knowledge in the four skills such as, Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. The accessibility of learning materials from the library can now be made available anywhere and anytime for students and teachers. This paper seeks to answer the following questions: (I) What is VLE? (2) What are the purposes of establishing VLE in a university? (3) How will the contents make student learning possible? (4) What will its impact on student learning be? The author believes that learning "how to learn" (metacognition) can be improved and enhanced for the students. The VLE serves as a supplementary learning tool in attaining such a goal.展开更多

Multiplicative Algebraic Reconstruction Technique(MART) algorithm was adopted for data ...Performance improvement was attained in data reconstructions of 2-dimensional tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy(TDLAS). Multiplicative Algebraic Reconstruction Technique(MART) algorithm was adopted for data reconstruction. The data obtained in an experiment for the measurement of temperature and concentration fields of gas flows were used. The measurement theory is based upon the Beer-Lambert law, and the measurement system consists of a tunable laser, collimators, detectors, and an analyzer. Methane was used as a fuel for combustion with air in the Bunsen-type burner. The data used for the reconstruction are from the optical signals of 8-laser beams passed on a cross-section of the methane flame. The performances of MART algorithm in data reconstruction were validated and compared with those obtained by Algebraic Reconstruction Technique(ART) algorithm.展开更多
A coded modulation scheme for deep-space optical communications is proposed, which is composed of an outer single- parity-check (SPC)-based product code, an interleaver, a bit-accumulator and a pulse-position modula...A coded modulation scheme for deep-space optical communications is proposed, which is composed of an outer single- parity-check (SPC)-based product code, an interleaver, a bit-accumulator and a pulse-position modulation (PPM). It is referred as SPC-APPM code, which is decoded with an iterativc demodulator-decoder using standard turbo-decoding techniques. Investigations show that the scheme has the advantages of low encoding and decoding complexities, good performance and flexible code rate for all rates above I/2. Meanwhile, simulation results demonstrate that the SPC-APPM provides the performance similar to the low-density parity-check-APPM (LDPC-APPM), superior to the LDPC-PPM and product accumulate code-PPM (PA-PPM), although inferior to serially concatenated PPM (SCPPM). At the bit error rate (BER) of 105, the performance of SPC-APPM is about 0.7 dB better than LDPC-PPM and 1.2 dB better than PA-PPM.展开更多
