Specifically, it aims to gain an insight into cultural impact both on the Chinese university students＇ self-perceptions of communication competence in the Chinese cultural context and on the British university students＇ self-perceptions of communication competence in a Western cultural context. The findings suggest that the mainland Chinese university students＇ interdependent/independent self-construals best predict their self-perceptions of communication competence. Results indicate that both Western and Chinese social values influence the two samples＇ interdependent and independent self-construals, and the two samples＇ self-perceptions of communication competence and interdependent self-construals differ significantly展开更多

These are the conclusions of new academic research conducted by Jan Veuger of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University （RSM）. In the author＇s dissertation, he asserts that in numerous cases, there is no correlation between social and financial objectives. The Dutch House of Representatives debated the results of the report Ver van huis from the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry on Housing Associations in early December, 2014. The research that is being carried out at the moment is constructed in a manner that if we understand something about value thinking and what underlying motivation is, an approach can be deducted that will allow us to control them. After the introduction, an explanation of the theme of the research will be given and the choice for a four-phase model with a deepening as to what value（s） is （and are）. From the perspective of the four-phase model, the emphasis will be put on the socialization and thinking capacities, and parallels will be drawn between the values within the four-phase model, the examined values, and in specific, public housing corporations.展开更多

Combined with the background of China to realize the ＂China Dreams＂, in the field of the public diplomacy, we should pay sufficient attention to the ＂internalization＂ construction in the aspects of the value ideas, the mode of the systems, the political propositions, and the cultural influence and so on, which is the benign interaction involving the governments, the citizens and the social organizations. In this paper, the author casts a brick to attract jade. Through the discussion of the necessity of the ＂internalization＂ construction of the public diplomacy, the author carries out the discussion from the social and the cultural dimensions, in order to arouse the attention to the ＂internalization＂ construction of the public diplomacy, so that our country will be more influential in the politics, and more approachable in the images, and more appealing in the morality.展开更多

Set in Britain, the short story Cord describes a story about how the mother and the daughter got along in the short reunion after a long separation. The paper mainly explores different religious values, cultural values, and social values between them which caused irreconcilable conflicts. The present paper concludes that the ＂Cord＂, the blood tie, can never get rid of the spiritual barrier. Only mutual understanding can eliminate the gap and acquire a harmonious relation between parents and children.展开更多

Statements by some important Peking University intellectuals, such as University President Cai Yuanpei （蔡元培） and Professors Chen Duxiu （陈独秀）, Hu Shi （胡适）, Zhou Zuoren （周作人）, etc. are discussed in detail. Special attention is given to those comments that stand out as against ＂majority opinion＂. Neither the Communists nor the Nationalists were key leaders during the first stage of the movement. It was the clash of core Chinese cultural values with those of Christianity and the Chinese desire to industrialize a country overwhelmed by the Western powers that were instrumental in the instigation of the Anti-Christian Movement.展开更多
