Results show that 1) the attenuation characteristics of stress waves were related to the material proper-ties, stress waves attenuate more quickly in soft material and 2) when the explosion load was applied at the top of the roadway, the number and the length of the cracks increased with a decrease in the distance between the explosive point and roof of the roadway. When the distance was 280 mm, only some chips appeared near the source, when the distance was 210 mm, some small cracks started to appear near the road-rib and when the distance was reduced to 140 mm, larger cracks appeared at the road-rib. It can be concluded that, under a given stress the number of cracks is closely related to the intensity of stress waves. The cracks in the sur-rounding rock can be reduced by controlling the intensity of the stress waves and rock bursts can be avoided to some extent by pre-venting the formation of layered crack structures. A new experimental approach has been provided for studying rock bursts by using physical simulation.展开更多

Furthermore, the parameters of the controllers were optimized using MATLAB and better results for the time response were obtained.展开更多

Thermodynamic calculations indicate that Al Cl and CO molecules can be formed under conditions of temperature 1760 K and the pressure of 60 Pa. The interaction of Al_2O and AlCl_2 with C shows that the chemical adsorption of Al_2O and AlCl_2 does take place on C(001) crystal plane, and at the same time, new chemical bond is formed between Al atom in Al_2O and Cl atoms from one of the Al—Cl bonds in AlCl_2. The results, after 1.25 ps dynamics simulation, indicate that adsorbed Al Cl molecules are generated and CO molecule will be formed in this system, and they will escape from C(001) surface after a longer period of dynamic simulation time. It means that the reaction of Al_2O and AlCl_2 with C can be carried out under given constraint condition.展开更多

It validates the relationship between safety investments and accident cost, by structurally analyzing the causality between safety investments and their influence factors. Our simulation model, based on Vensim software, conducts simulation analysis on a series of actual data from a coalmine in Shanxi Province. Our results indicate a lag phase in safety investments, and that increasing pre-phase safety investment reduces accident costs. We found that a 24% increase in initial safety investment could help reach the target accident costs level 14 months earlier. Our simulation test included nine kinds of variation trends of accident costs brought by different investment ratios on accident prevention. We found an optimized ratio of accident prevention investments allowing a mine to reach accident cost goals 4 months earlier, without changing its total investment.展开更多

Here, the effect of the rolling massage frequency to the blood flow in the blood vessels under the rolling massage manipulation is studied by the lattice Boltzmann simulation. The simulation results show that when the frequency is smaller than or comparable to the pulsatile frequency of the blood flow, the effect on the blood flux by the rolling massage is small. 011 the contrast, if the frequency is twice or more times of the pulsatile frequency of the blood flow, the blood flux is greatly enhanced and increases linearly with respect to the frequency. Similar behavior has also been observed on the shear stress on the blood vessel walls. The result is helpful for understanding that the rolling massage has the function of promoting the blood circulation and removing the blood stasis.展开更多

To be confident in correct OOS relaying, the OOS protection device behavior under the vast majority of power system abnormal regimes should be tested. Comprehensive testing procedure becomes especially important for complex power systems when power system parameters and consequently device settings are not clearly defined or may vary in time. For such complex systems the real OOS protection device testing may become a problem because of specific waveforms of signals persisting during OOS condition. The goal of the methodology, presented in the paper, is to achieve the possibility of out-of-step protection device testing under close-to-real power system operation conditions. The power system stability modelling software is used as a source of test signals. The accurate model of power system in conjunction with dynamical modelling features allows to verify the reliability of OOS protection scheme under consideration as also allows the device settings correction, if necessary. The methodology allows to test the real device with signals waveforms which are hardly obtainable using traditional testing technique.展开更多
