Aimed at the difficulties in accurately, comprehensively and systematically evaluating the reliability of industrial wireless sensor networks (WSNs), a time-evolving state transition-Monte Carlo (TEST-MC) evaluati...Aimed at the difficulties in accurately, comprehensively and systematically evaluating the reliability of industrial wireless sensor networks (WSNs), a time-evolving state transition-Monte Carlo (TEST-MC) evaluation method and a novel network function value representation method are proposed to evaluate the reliability of the IWSNs. First, the adjacency matrix method is used to characterize three typical topologies of WSNs including the mesh network, tree network and ribbon network. Secondly, the network function value method is used to evaluate the network connectivity, and the TEST-MC evaluation method is used to evaluate network reliability and availability. Finally, the variations in the reliability, connectivity and availability of these three topologies are presented. Simulation results show that the proposed method can quickly analyze the reliability of the networks containing typical WSN topologies, which provides an effective method for the comprehensive and accurate evaluation of the reliability of WSNs.展开更多

Globalization and informatization have accelerated city networking process over the world, which makes research on city network a hot topic in the fields of urban geography and economic geography. With Chinese economi...Globalization and informatization have accelerated city networking process over the world, which makes research on city network a hot topic in the fields of urban geography and economic geography. With Chinese economic structure adjustment and city economic growth, producer services have begun to play an increasingly important role in city-region networking. This paper employs the methodology of world city network to analyze and explain the spatial development characteristics of China's urban network system based on the data of nationwide producer services enterprise network. The research result indicated that the distribution of producer services network has a positive effect on the development of Chinese city networks. City network connectivity is closely related to the significance of city in producer services development, and the former will gradually decline with the drop of the latter. Accordingly, the 64 cities can be divided into the national central cities, regional central cities, sub-regional central cities and local central cities in accordance with their position and role in the nationwide producer services network. It is concluded that high-grade cities with quality producer services dominate the pattern of Chinese city networks and there emerges three spatial agglomerations of producer services enterprises in Changjiang (Yangtze) River Delta, Zhujiang (Pearl) River Delta and Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan Economical Region. Moreover, the distribution of different producer services industry varies from city to city, which also affects the characteristics of network development.展开更多

A low cost compact intellectual property (IP) core of the entire advanced encryption standard (AES) algorithm for wireless sensor network is presented in this paper. A compact encryption and decryption system using only four sharing S-Boxes is obtained, employing sharing between the encryption and decryption processes. Our design proposes use of composite field data path for the SubBytes and InvSubBytes transformations. With an implementation of the AES block cipher with Virtex Ⅱ Pro FPGA using0.13μm and 90nm process technology, our area optimized consumes 16.8k equivalent gates. The speed of this implementation is also reduced to 0.45Gbits/s. Compared with previous implementations, our design achieves significant low-cost area with acceptable throughput.展开更多

This method can avoid maintaining the connectivities between backbone hosts. Considering that the hosts in mobile networks have different characteristics, this paper proposes a method of calculating minimal dominating set with weight. The nodes can be chosen to form a minimal dominating set when the network topology changes. For the host switch on/off operation, the updating algorithm was provided. The change in the status of a hostaffects only the status of hosts in the restricted vicinity. Simulation results show that the proposed method can ensure fewer dominators but with higher weight to form the minimal dominating set and the nodes can be adaptive to the changes of network topology.展开更多
The multi-source and single-sink(MSSS) topology in wireless sensor networks(WSNs) is defined as a network topology,where all of nodes can gather,receive and transmit data to the sink.In energy-constrained WSNs with su...The multi-source and single-sink(MSSS) topology in wireless sensor networks(WSNs) is defined as a network topology,where all of nodes can gather,receive and transmit data to the sink.In energy-constrained WSNs with such a topology,the joint optimal design in the physical,medium access control(MAC) and network layers is considered for network lifetime maximization(NLM).The problem of integrating multi-layer information to compute NLM,which involves routing flow,link schedule and transmission power,is formulated as a nonlinear optimization problem.Specially under time division multiple access(TDMA) scheme,this problem can be transformed into a convex optimization problem.To solve it analytically we make use of the property that local optimization is global optimization in convex problem.This allows us to exploit the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) optimality conditions to solve it and obtain analytical solution expression,i.e.,the globally optimal network lifetime(NL).NL is derived as a function of number of nodes,their initial energy and data rate arrived at them. Based on the analysis of analytical approach,it takes the influence of data rates,link access and routing method over NLM into account.Moreover,the globally optimal transmission schemes are achieved by solution set during analytical approach and applied to algorithms in TDMA-based WSNs aiming at NLM on OMNeT++ to compare with other suboptimal schemes.展开更多
