Comparison of the calculating results with those obtained from the experimental data and those obtained from linear wave theory showed that the present water wave model considering the dispersion of phase velocity is rational and in good agreement with experiment data.展开更多

Water di...The coefficient and dynamics of water diffusion in adhesive-graphite joints were calculated in-situ with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis, a method that is significantly simpler than elemental analysis. Water diffusion coefficient and dynamics of adhesive-graphite joints treated by different surface treatment methods were also investigated. Calculation results indicated that the water diffusion rate in adhesive-graphite joints treated by sandpaper was higher than that treated by chemical oxidation or by silane couple agent. Also the durability of graphite joints treated by coupling agent is superior to that treated by chemical oxidation or sandpaper burnishing.展开更多

In order to endorse his theory of evolutionism, Darwin develops an argumentative communicating science based on two axes: the facts and the axiomatics. His communicating science follows the next structure: (1) a relation with the starting thesis is established; (2) some evidence are promoted; (3) as the base of the evidence, a motivation is emphasized; (4) as a reason, an axiomatics is assigned to this base; and (5) finally, the facts and the quantifiers are explained by valid conclusions.展开更多

NI-IUAM decomposes one multidisciplinary syste...A Newton iteration-based interval uncertainty analysis method(NI-IUAM) is proposed to analyze the propagating effect of interval uncertainty in multidisciplinary systems. NI-IUAM decomposes one multidisciplinary system into single disciplines and utilizes a Newton iteration equation to obtain the upper and lower bounds of coupled state variables at each iterative step.NI-IUAM only needs to determine the bounds of uncertain parameters and does not require specific distribution formats. In this way, NI-IUAM may greatly reduce the necessity for raw data. In addition, NI-IUAM can accelerate the convergence process as a result of the super-linear convergence of Newton iteration. The applicability of the proposed method is discussed, in particular that solutions obtained in each discipline must be compatible in multidisciplinary systems. The validity and efficiency of NI-IUAM is demonstrated by both numerical and engineering examples.展开更多
