In this paper, based on the reverse order matching method we proposed previously, three strategies of matching heat transfer areas are proposed to minimize the investment cost for the retrofit of HEN in multiperiod, in which replacement of heat exchangers, addition of heat exchangers and addition of heat transfer areas are performed. We demonstrate the procedures through three scenarios, including maximum number of substituted heat exchangers after retrofit, minimum additional heat transfer areas in the retrofitted HEN, and minimum investment cost for retrofit. The strategies are extended to a single period HEN retrofit problem. The results of multi-period and single period HEN retro fit problems indicate the effectiveness of the strategies. Moreover, these results are better than those reported in literature. The strategies are simple and easy to implement, which are of great benefit to large-scale HEN retrofit in practice.展开更多

The generalized correlations have different forms, and could not provide satisfactory results for R22 and its alternative refrigerants R134a, R407C and R410A. This study proposes to use artificial neural network (ANNs) as a generalized correlation model, selects the input parameters of ANNs on the basis of the dimensionless parameter groups of existing correlations, and correlates the in-tube boiling heat transfer coefficients of the above four refrigerants. The results show that the ANNs model with the input and output based on the Liu-Winterton correlation has the best result. The root-mean-square deviations in training and test are 15.5% and 20.2% respectively, and approximately 85% of the deviations are within ±20%, which is much better than that of the existing generalized correlations.展开更多

Over the last decades, the use of WSN systems in enabling quality monitoring of heat production and supply process has been widely discussed among various researchers and industry experts, but has been little deployed in practice. These researchers and industry experts have analysed the advantages and constraints related to the use of the WSN in district heating. A pilot project conducted by Riga Heat (the main heating supplier in Riga, Latvia) has allowed to gain a real life experience as to the use of the WSN system in district in-house heating substations, and is deemed to be a major step towards future development of WSN technologies.展开更多

This study develops a convenient area method for visualizing the heat-transfer imperfection of a HEN in terms of temperature-heat flow diagrams ( T-Q diagrams) by combining the composite curves that have already been used in pinch analysis and the re- cently developed entransy analysis. It is shown that the area between the hot and cold composite curves and the hot and cold utility lines on a T-Q diagram is just equal to the total entransy dissipation rate during the multi-stream heat transfer process occurred in a HEN, and this area can be used to graphically represent the total heat-transfer imperfection of the HEN. The increase in heat recovery or decrease in energy requirements with decreasing the minimum temperature difference, ATmin, of a HEN can then be attributed to a lower entransy dissipation rate, quantitatively represented by the decrease of the area between the composite curves and the utility lines. In addition, the differences between the T-Q diagram and the pre-existing energy level-enthalpy flow diagram (12-H diagram) in the roles of visualizing process imperfection and designing HENs are dis- cussed.展开更多

文摘Multi-period heat exchanger network(HEN) retrofit is usually performed by targeting and matching heat transfer areas.
