A 165 kD polypeptide, which is equivalent to XCAP-C in molecular weight, was demonstrated in the nuclei by SDS-PAGE, and was then proved to be an XCAP-C-like protein by Western blot using an anti-XCAP-C antiserum, but neither the polypeptide nor the XCAP-C-like protein was detected in die nuclear matrix. The nuclei, Chromosomes and chromosome scaffolds were observed to emanate strong, specific fluorescence after labeled with the anti-XCAP-C antiserum and an FITC-conjugated secondary antibody, indicating their containment of the XCAP-C-like protein. It was confirmed by viewing with immunoelectron microscopy that the gold particles representing the localization of the XCAP-C-like protein were found to be mainly distributed in the condensed chromatin regions of the nuclei and chromosomes.展开更多

DNA ladders were detected in developing secondary xylem by gel electrophoresis. DNA fragmentation was further confirmed by using the TdT-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling (TUNEL) method. Western blotting analysis showed that CLPs (caspase-8- and caspase-3-like proteases) and PARP (poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase) were degraded during secondary xylem differentiation. The results thus indicated that secondary xylem differentiation in E ulmoides was a typical process of PCD and the degradation of CLPs might be a constitutive PCD event during secondary xylem differentiation.展开更多

Radiological examinations revealed multifocal tumoral lesions in the spleen. The patient underwent splenectomy for differential diagnosis and treatment. During the operation, in addition to the splenic masses, there were also multiple milimetric purpuric-like lesions on the colonic serosal surfaces adjacent to the splenic hilus. One of them was excised. Histologic examination showed hemangiopericytoma of the spleen and cavernous hemangioma of the adjacent colon. This is the first report showing the close association of these two distinct lesions with vascular origin in the literature. Despite not having any apparent evidence, there may be a sequential relationship between the hemangiopericytoma of the spleen and cavernous hemangiomas.展开更多

In the seeding operations programs, the fundament is to determinate the critical radius in order to obtain efficient results. So, it must consider (a) the critical radius size necessary in order to get the better results; (b) the atmospheric conditions that determine it. In order to get a methodology to calculate the critical radius in each atmospheric condition, the present work has been developed. And with them, it can estimate the nuclei size necessary in order to assure good seeding. The authors had obtained approximate values that were good enough to the goals.展开更多

In this study, we used the nuclear recombination activating gene 2 and the mitochondrial 16S ribosomal RNA and cytochrome b genes to reconstruct cyprinid phylogeny. Our aims were to (i) demonstrate the effects of partitioned phylo- genetic analyses on phylogeny reconstruction of cyprinid fishes; (ii) provide new insights into the phylogeny of cyprinids. Our study indicated that unpartitioned strategy was optimal for our analyses; partitioned analyses did not provide better-resolved or -supported estimates of cyprinid phylogeny. Bayesian analyses support the following relationships among the major mono- phyletic groups within Cyprinidae: (Cyprininae, Labeoninae), ((Acheilognathinae, ((Leuciscinae, Tincinae), Gobioninae)), Xenocyprirlinae). The placement of Danioninae was poorly resolved. Estimates of divergence dates within the family showed that radiation of the major cyprinid groups occurred during the Late Oligocene through the Late Miocene. Our phylogenetic analyses improved our understanding of the evolutionary history of this important fish family.展开更多

In this study, we systemati- cally investigated the influence of cholesterol analog 6-ketocholestanol (6-KC) on the dehydration of model cell membrane, using sum frequency generation vibrational spectroscopy. In pure DI water environment, two separate dehydration dynamic components were observed in neutrally charged and isotopically labeled 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DMPC) and positively charged 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-ethylphosphocholine(chloride salt) (DMEPC) bilayer: a large-amplitude fast component and a small-amplitude slow component, which originated from the water molecules with a weak and a strong water-membrane bound strengths, respectively. Dehydration of a negatively charged mixed DMPC/DMPG bilayer lead to the membrane-bound water being reorganized to ordered structures quickly. It is evident that the water-membrane bound strengths depend largely on the charge status of the lipid and has an order of neutrally charged membrane〈〈positively charged mem- brane〈〈negatively charged membrane. In an ionic environment, KC1 solution can not only dehydrate DMPC bilayer, but also prevent the 6-KC fiom further dehydrating this model cell membrane. We observed that the dehydration dynamics behavior of DMPC bilayer in the presence of the chaotropic anions is similar to that of the negatively charged DMPG bilayer because of the penetration of chaotropic anions into the DMPC bilayer. The degree of dehydration difficulty in kosmotropic anions fol- lows a Hofmeister series and linearly correlates with the hydration Gibbs free energy of the anions. Our results provide a molecular basis for the interpretation of the Hofmeister effect of kosmotropic anions on ion transport proteins.展开更多

After the incorporation of GalNAz in the triple-negative breast cancer cell line, the tumor- igenicity of these cells was decreased. Results from gene analysis and drug treatment suggest that the tumorigenicity decrease may be attributed to the reduction of cancer stem cell population. Possible mechanisms of GalNAz induced cancer stem cells (CSCs) proportion change are discussed.展开更多

We discuss about the local and global behavior of both the systems in presence and absence of intracellular delay. It is shown that the endemic equilibrium of a target-cell limited model would be unstable in presence and absence of intraeellular delay only when self-proliferation of activated CD4+T cell is considered. Otherwise, all positive solutions converge to the endemic equilibrium or disease-free equilibrium depending on whether the basic reproduction ratio is greater than or less than unity. Our study suggests that amplitude of oscillation is negatively correlated with the constant input rate of CD4+T cell when intracellular delay is absent or low. However, they are positively correlated if the delay is too high. Amplitude of oscillation, on the other hand, is always positively correlated with the proliferation rate of CD4+T cell for all delay. Our mathematical and simulation analysis also suggest that there are many potential contributors who are responsible for the variation of CD4+T cells and virus particles in the blood plasma of HIV patients.展开更多
