In the present work, fatty acids were adopted as lubricity additives to low-sulfur diesel fuel. It was attempted to correlate the molecular structures of fatty acids, such as carbon chain length, degree of saturation and hy- droxylation, to their lubricity enhancement, which was evaluated by the High-Frequency Reciprocating Rig (HFRR) meth- od. The efficiency order was supported by the density functional theory (DFT) calculations and the molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The lubricity enhancing properties of fatty acids are mainly determined by the cohesive energy of adsorbed films furmed on iron surface. The greater the cohesive energy, the more efficiently the fatty acid would enhance the lubricity of low-sulfur diesel fuel.展开更多

One of the methods to reduce oil absorption in fried products is partial drying before frying. In this study, influence of partial drying (10 min, 20 min, 30 min) on oil absorption and quality attributes of three potato cultivars (Agria, Satina, kenebek) was evaluated. Our results reveled that in Agria, partial drying leads to an increase in oil absorption compared with non-dried sample (p〈0.05). In kenebek, partial drying reduced the oil absorption and improved the texture and color of the produced French fries (p〈0.05). Similar results were observed with Satina as with kenebek. In all three varieties, partial drying increased the dry matter, color quality and required cutting force of the French fries (p〈0.05).展开更多

The advantage of PFAD over other vitamin E sources is higher amount of tocotrienols than that of tocopherols. Vitamin E purification of unsaponiable matter of PFAD was aimed to remove other impurities to obtain high vitamin E concentration, mainly tocotrienols. This research used low temperature solvent crystallization to purify vitamin E. To optimize response of vitamin concentration, a response surface method was applied with three factors, i.e., the ratio between solvent and unsaponifiable matter (A), crystallization temperature (B), and crystallization time (C). The relation of three factors was quadratic with equation Y = -128.54361 + 41.33904A - 0.87995B + 1.58941C + 0.00290AB - 0.044324AC + 0.00120BC - 3.33113A2 - 0.039535B2 - 0.02710C2. The optimum crystallization condition was obtained at ratio of solventto unsaponifiable matter of 6.04:1, crystallization temperature of-10.54 ℃, and crystallization time of 24.16 hours. Vitamin E enriched fraction from optimum crystallization conditions contained vitamin E of 20.13% (w/w).展开更多

Forty-five percent of patients exhibited TC decreasing by more than 10% from baseline and25%ofpatientsexhibited TCdecreasingbymore than 20%. Sixty percent of patients exhibited TG decreasing by more than 20% and 20% of patients exhibited TG decreasing by more than 40%. However,high-density and low-density lipoprotein cholester-ol levels did not change significantly after intervention. No serious adverse events were reported.CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that CHT plus TCM to treat NAFLD is promising and it might be a new treatment strategy for management of NAFLD.展开更多
