However, for most routing schemes in this paradigm, when a node joins or leaves, large numbers of nodes, even the whole topology, need to be re-embedded, and a great number of contents need to be re-registered. In this paper, we propose D-Griffin, a geometric routing scheme on flat names for dynamic topologies. D-Griffin provides two advantages. First, it avoids re-embedding the topology by using an online greedy embedding scheme and a void handling greedy forwarding scheme. Second, it decreases the number of re-registrations by using a name mapping scheme with a tradeoff between topology independence and load balancing. Theoretical and experimental analyses show that D-Griffin provides guaranteed content lookup, low description complexity, low path stretch, scalable routing update, and acceptable load balancing.展开更多

It is centered on the site where the Order of the Temple was created, Je...This paper is focused on the study of the urban form of Tomar, which was founded in Portugal by the Order of the Temple during the 12th century. It is centered on the site where the Order of the Temple was created, Jerusalem, and also on the Templar European headquarters, Paris, in Marais neighborhood; as well as on its headquarters in Portugal, Tomar; and finally, on Angra which was set up in Azores at the beginning of the Portuguese discoveries in 1427. While exploring possible Templar principles on setting up medieval geometric cities, the aim of this paper is to expose that Tomar is a truly relevant case on that process and, therefore, that Portugal have had a significant role on medieval geometric urbanism. The achievements of this paper show that the selected territories share common settlement principles which are based on both similar geometric rules and analogous hierarchy schemes. Regarding that, it will be possible to state that cultural and population exchanges with France should not be considered as the sole factor to shape European medieval urbanity. Portugal should have had a role on that process, too. At least, it should be possible to explore other hypothesis on further pieces of research, according to the exposed arguments.展开更多

This led to a ten-year ...In Greece extended cracking of twin-block concrete sleepers (ties) and fouling of the ballast-bed were observed with implied problems of gauge widening and deterioration of track's geometry. This led to a ten-year investigation program, during which a new method was developed for the estimation of actions on track panel as well as of the pressures / stresses that develop under the seating surface of the sleeper on the ballast-bed. Results from the tests performed on the ballast used in the Greek network are also presented, conducted in laboratories in France, Austria, and Greece. The influence of the actions -static and mainly dynamic- on the track response and the stress and strain of the ballast-bed are also discussed as derived from the tests and theoretical analysis.展开更多

The reported pol...A recent study has revealed a full 3-dimentional reactive scattering picture of the reaction CI+CHD3(v1=1) as the C1 atoms attack CHD3 from various directions respective to the C-H stretching bond. The reported polarization-dependent differential cross sections provide the most detailed characterization of the influences of reagent alignments on reactivity. To convey the stereo-specific information more accessible to general chemists, we show here, by proper symmetry considerations, how to retrieve from the measurements the relative integral and differential cross sections of two most common collision geometries: the end-on versus side-on attacks. The results, albeit coarse-grained, provide an appealing picture that not only reinforces our intuition about chemical reactivity, but also sheds more light on the conventional (unpolarized) attributes.展开更多
This paper investigates the uplink throughput of Cognitive Radio Cellular Networks(CRCNs).As oppose to traditional performance evaluation schemes which mainly adopt complex system level simulations,we use the theoreti...This paper investigates the uplink throughput of Cognitive Radio Cellular Networks(CRCNs).As oppose to traditional performance evaluation schemes which mainly adopt complex system level simulations,we use the theoretical framework of stochastic geometry to provide a tractable and accurate analysis of the uplink throughput in the CRCN.By modelling the positions of User Equipments(UEs)and Base Stations(BSs)as Poisson Point Processes(PPPs),we analyse and derive expressions for the link rate and the cell throughput in the Primary(PR)and Secondary(SR)networks.The expressions show that the throughput of the CRCN is mainly affected by the density ratios between the UEs and the BSs in both the PR and SR networks.Besides,a comparative analysis of the link rate between random and regular BS deployments is concluded,and the results confirm the accuracy of our analysis.Furthermore,we define the cognitive throughput gain and derive an expression which is dominated by the traffic load in the PR network.展开更多
Road horizontal alignment contains three elements: straight line,circular arc,and clothoid.In AutoCAD,clothoid can only be fitted by polyline or spline,and the graphics which are separated from the road data are indep...Road horizontal alignment contains three elements: straight line,circular arc,and clothoid.In AutoCAD,clothoid can only be fitted by polyline or spline,and the graphics which are separated from the road data are independent of each other.Therefore,it is necessary to develop a new curve for road horizontal alignment.Firstly,the differential approximation and series integration methods for clothoid were discussed.Secondly,the geometric formulae for road line which contain the three elements were derived as a whole.Then,the advantages and feasibility of customizing a road line class,which was derived from the curve base class,were analyzed based on ObjectARX(AutoCAD Runtime eXtension) techniques.Finally,the data structure and operations for the road line class were stressed.The experimental results show that the road line can integrate the road elements,graphics and data to implement the graphics-oriented design,which can be widely used in road alignment design.展开更多
