《圣救度佛母二十一种礼赞经》是佛教二十一尊度母赞颂诗。该赞颂诗自元代起以多语合璧形式出现,已有梵藏蒙汉、梵藏回鹘、梵藏蒙、藏蒙、藏汉等多种合璧文本流传至今。本文以该经文的明宣德六年(1431年)木刻版梵、藏、蒙、汉四语合璧... 《圣救度佛母二十一种礼赞经》是佛教二十一尊度母赞颂诗。该赞颂诗自元代起以多语合璧形式出现,已有梵藏蒙汉、梵藏回鹘、梵藏蒙、藏蒙、藏汉等多种合璧文本流传至今。本文以该经文的明宣德六年(1431年)木刻版梵、藏、蒙、汉四语合璧文本以及元代刻本梵、藏、回鹘三语合璧残篇为研究对象,首先梳理和交代前人研究对此赞颂诗的翻译年代及译者的推断和看法;其次通过文本之间的详细对照,讨论各译本的翻译特征及风格的统一性问题;再次探讨并明确元代多语合璧佛典的原文及各译本,即5种文本之间的相互传承关系,从而对以往的观点和说法予以纠正。 展开更多

An examination of the population dynamics of syngnathid fishes within Tampa Bay,Florida,USA

Seagrass ecosystems worldwide have been declining, leading to a decrease in associated fish populations, especially those with low mobility such as syngnathids (pipefish and seahorses). This two-year pilot study investigated seasonal patterns in density, growth, site fidelity, and population dynamics of Tampa Bay (FL) syngnathid fishes at a site adjacent to two marinas under construction. Using a modified mark-recapture technique, fish were collected periodically from three closely located sites that varied in seagrass species (Thalassia spp., Syringodium spp., and mixed-grass sites) and their distance from open water, but had consistent physical/chemical environmental characteristics. Fish were marked, photographed for body size and gender measurements, and released the same day at the capture site. Of the 5695 individuals surveyed, 49 individuals were recaptured, indicating a large, flexible population. Population density peaks were observed in July of both years, with low densities in late winter and late summer. Spatially, syngnathid densities were highest closest to the mouth of the bay and lowest near the shoreline. Seven species of syngnathid fishes were observed, and species-specific patterns of seagrass use emerged during the study. However, only two species, Syngnathus scovelli and Hippoeampus zosterae, were observed at high frequencies. For these two species, body size decreased across the study period, but while S. scovelli's population density decreased, H. zosterae's increased. Across six of the seven species, population size declined over the course of this preliminary study; however, seasonal shifts were impossible to distinguish from potential anthropogenic effects of construction [Current Zoology 56 (1): 118-133, 2010]. 展开更多

This article reviews biological invasions in which predation (or its absence) plays a major role in the success of the invader. Examples are described in which the invader out-competes native species for the same food, and cases in which the in-vader consumes valued native species. In many instances, better predator avoidance by the invasive species or the absence of predators in the new habitat contributes to the success of the invaders; in other cases native or introduced predators appear to be able to keep the invasive species in check. A relatively new management approach in the US is the idea of adding another trophic level - to have humans act as the predators and consume the invasive species. This approach is being utilized in Florida and throughout the Caribbean against the lionfish, but could be extended to other fishes, as well as to various invasive crustaceans and mollusks. This idea is controversial, and current regulations prohibiting the possession of individuals of the invasive species (e.g., mitten crabs or snakefish) would preclude the development of a fishery for them [Current Zoology 57 (5): 613~524, 2011]. 展开更多

Florida, along with Hawaii, has among the two worst invasive species problems in the USA, and the state is espe-cially susceptible to establishment by alien reptiles. Besides the large numbers of established non-native reptile species in Florida, many of these species present novel difficulties for management, or have other characteristics making effective management ex-tremely challenging. Moreover, initiation of management action requires more than recognition by experts that a potentially harmful species has become established. It also requires the political will along with concomitant resources and appropriate per-sonnel to develop effective methods and apply them. We review the situation in Florida, including assessment of risk for estab- lishment, and we use a subset of prominent species to illustrate in more detail the array of invasive reptile species circumstances in Florida, including routes of introduction, impacts, and potential and implemented management actions. These examples not only highlight the severity of the invasive reptile problems in the state, but they also show the diversity in resolve and response towards them and the motivating factors [Current Zoology 57 (5): 599-612, 2011]. 展开更多
