Illegal mining of mineral resou...The development and application of the ''digital mine'' concept in China depends heavily upon the use of remote sensing data as well as domestic expertise and awareness. Illegal mining of mineral resources has been a serious long term problem frustrating the Xishimen Iron Ore Mine management. This mine is located in Wu'an county in Hebei province, China. Illegal activities have led to enormous economic losses by interfering with the normal operation of the Xishimen mine and have ruined the surrounding environ- ment and the stability of the Mahe riverbed the crosses the mined area. This paper is based on field recon- naissance taken over many years around the mine area. The ground survey data are integrated with Differential Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (D-InSAR) results from ALOS/PALSAR data to pin- point mining locations. By investigating the relationship between the resulting interferometric deforma- tion pattern and the mining schedule, which is known a priori, areas affected by illegal mining activities are identified. To some extent these areas indicate the location of the illegal site. The results clearly dem- onstrate D-InSAR's ability to cost-effectively monitor illegal mining activities.展开更多

These case reports may substantially undercount the true magnitude of harm. Based on the past experience with harmful dietary supplements, US regulators should assume the more precautionary approach favored by Canada and Europe. Based on the data monitoring applied in the school building, this work is focused on the parameters acquisition and operation analysis of the GSHP system in Tangshan. Results show the average COPs(coefficient of performance) are2.85 and 2.70 in summer and winter, respectively, and heat(cold) unbalance underground existed after whole year operation. The analysis of data also indicates that the direct borehole air-conditioning saved some power consumption obviously in the early stage of summer and energy saving of the GSHP system depended remarkably on its operation and management level. Besides the observation points of ground temperature are laid for a large-scale GSHP system, and the hydraulic balance of the pipes group needs to be concerned specially in safeguarding better reliability.展开更多

Otherwise the risk of a high visibi...Forecasts of record values are usually avoided unless expected to occur with great confidence within less than 48 hours, or in association with an extreme event such as a hurricane. Otherwise the risk of a high visibility false alarm outweighs the benefit of a correct early hit. Yet automated forecasts may occasionally include record values beyond day 2, which forecasters may choose to downplay, or not. In Canada, forecasters keep their focus on high impact weather for days l and 2, so that forecasts for day 3 and beyond are mostly automated and usually released after a quick glance. So a process was designed to bring up cases where automated temperature forecasts exceed known records for a number of sites, with the sole purpose of alerting the forecasters who may decide whether or not modifications are needed before release. As a by-product it is found that some record temperature forecasts are issued every day in Canada, even more records are actually observed, and in recent years there have been twice as many new high records as low ones. We discuss the origin of the process, its logics, its current status, interesting findings, and possible improvements.展开更多
The instrumentation, method and measurement results used for measurements of CO2 concentrations in surface air of Obninsk （55.1° N, 36.9° E, 183 m above the sea level） located at a distance of 105 km to th...The instrumentation, method and measurement results used for measurements of CO2 concentrations in surface air of Obninsk （55.1° N, 36.9° E, 183 m above the sea level） located at a distance of 105 km to the south-west of Moscow are presented. Proposed is a method of experimental data filtering allowing one to separate natural and anthropogenic variations of CO2 concentrations. It is shown that minimal concentrations of CO2 registered in Obninsk and at the continental stations of GAW WMO characterize not only the ＂regional background＂ but also coincide with the data from GAW WMO background stations located in the oceanic regions. In this connection, one can assume that the excess in measured CO2 concentration over its minimal values, making about 5-6 ppm, is connected with an anthropogenic emission, and the continent should be considered as an anthropogenic source of C02.展开更多

In this study, a basic and practical management about how to manage IT asset in small organizations will be discussed. Then this kind of management will be further discussed when the company become small medium organization. The implementation of IT infrastructure, the requirements, infrastructures, services, and platform from software to hardware and networking devices needs to be known.
