They also complement primary health care, furnishing raw materials where the cultivation of staple cereal crops is least feasible and health care is pursued indigenously. Research and promotion of extraction, utilization, and conservation of underutilized species lead to exploration of new staple crops and motivate people to consume in a sustainable manner. The present study describes the current status, uses, and management of underutilized plant species in Far West Nepal. The relative importance of 49 underutilized plant species was computed employing a Relative Importance (RI) technique. The use-values assigned to the species fall into six use-categories: beverage, fodder, food & edible, medicinal, vegetable and veterinary. A total of 22 species appeared in multiple use-categories, while the rest were characterized by a single use-category. Based on relative importance and frequency, Ficus semicordata, Debregesia longifolia, Girardinea diversifolia, Hydrocotyle nepalensis, Garuga pinnata, Aloe vera and Pyrus pashia offer the most potential for future. Underutilized plants proved important to folk medicine and food. These species persist because they remain useful to local people as means of subsistence, production, and primary health care. The findings are important so far as they point up the role of underutilized plants in national food security policy and health care, spelling out their potentialities and cross cutting relationships.展开更多

Therefore, extensive application of PLC technology in power supply and distribution system has great significance to ensure normal social life and production, so as to realize the entire national economy sustained and healthy development. This paper briefly introduces the PLC technology, and with practice elaborates the applications of control technology based on PLC in power supply and distribution system fi:om the reform of low-voltage distribution system, automation management and relay protection of power supply and distribution system etc.展开更多

The objective of this study was to assess the knowledge, attitudes and practices of health care providers on the diagnosis and therapeutic procedures used to ensure the management of uncomplicated malaria in the health district of Abidjan. A cross-sectional study was conducted from November 2008 to December 2008 among 169 caregivers who treated 1,691 cases of uncomplicated malaria. Results: The knowledge of the caregivers of the national guidelines regarding malaria was sufficient (89%). A diagnosis of uncomplicated malaria was established only on clinical arguments (70%). The percentage of patients who were prescribed artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) was 86%. However, 25% of the antimalarials drugs that were prescribed to patients (oral quinine, artemisinin derivatives monotherapy, and herbal medicine) did not meet the recommendations on first choice treatment as suggested by the national program against malaria. These results indicate sufficient knowledge of the national guidelines for the treatment of malaria by health care providers as evidenced by acceptable prescriptions for ACTs despite an incomplete knowledge of the guidelines.展开更多

We propose that the technology must support principles such as human rights, privacy, safety, and dignity. The voluntary contribution of people as participants in research must undergo the scrutiny of research plans by ethical review boards. Informed consent processes and procedures must be observed in this realm. Ethical issues arising in heterogeneous fields involving technology, end-users, service providers, and formal and informal caregivers pose important challenges. Attempting to maximize the ethical compliance of the results of this ICT (information and communication technology) project, we explore and suggest preventive measures for possible scenarios of misuse of this or related technology. Concluding, the observation of ethical principles throughout the development process can empower users to make informed decisions on the acceptance of ICT systems and services when these reach the market.展开更多

In particular, TENG has great potential in the field of human-health care due to its small size, self-powered and low cost. With the continuous deepening of TENG research, its structure, function and technical concept are becoming more and more abundant. In order to summarize the progress and development status of TENG in health care, based on the different types of applications subdirection, this paper reviews the TENG-based research work of this field in recent eight years. The characteristics of various types of TENG-based applications and their corresponding technologies are introduced and analyzed, under the comparison of their structure and performance. This review is dedicated to provide reference and inspiration for the future development and innovation of TENG for health care.展开更多
