The equilibrium levels of self-protection and insurance coverage under the non- cooperative condition are compared with socially optimal solutions, and the associated coordination mechanisms are proposed. The results show that self-protection investment increases in response to an increase in potential loss when the interdependent risk is small; the interdependent risk of security investments often induce firms to underinvest in security relative to the socially efficient level by ignoring marginal external costs or benefits conferred on others. A subsidy on self-protection investment from the government can help coordinate a firm's risk management decision and, thereby, improve individual security level and overall social welfare.展开更多

Methods: A descriptive-cross-sectional study was conducted in South Africa. Data collected uses a standardized-questionnaire and face-to-face-exit interviews. Pill-count technique was performed and a value of≥ 95% acceptable. Data were analysed using SPSS. Univariate-factors associated with poor-adherence to knowledge about HAART and waiting times were assessed using ANOVA and p ≤ 0.05 considered statistically significant. Key findings: Of 86 enrolled, 63(73.3%) were females and 23(26.7%) males, with mean-age (± SD) of 35.6(±9.6) years and on HAART for 35.5(± 31.8) months ranging from 1-137. Of these, 27(31.40%) and 25(29.07%) were on WHO stages 2 and 3 respectively. Adherence-rates computed from 32 patients, 23(71.9%) revealed poor adherence-rates. The level of knowledge about HAART in terms of names of tablets, correct-dose, frequency, adverse-effects had no influence on ARV-adherence (p _〉 0.05). Of 23 non-compliant, 10 (40%) gave the reason of drugs-unavailability, 7(30%) adverse-effects, 5(20%) drugs' complexity, and 1(10%) too busy to take them. Waiting areas associated with poor ARV-adherence were reception (p = 0.028), doctors (p = 0.027), while nurse's station (p = 0.29) and pharmacy (p = 0.43) revealed acceptable ARV-adherence.展开更多

One is ordinary conservative system and the other is timedependent Hamiltonian system. The quantum unitary operator relevant to classical canonical transformation between the two systems are obtained through rigorous evaluation. With the aid of the unitary operator, we have derived quantum states of the time-dependent Hamiltonian system through transforming the quantum states of the conservative system. The invariant operators of the two systems are presented and the relation between them are addressed. We showed that there exist numerous Hamiltonians, which gives the same classical equation of motion. Though it is impossible to distinguish the systems described by these Hamiltonians within the realm of classical mechanics, they can be distinguishable quantum mechanically.展开更多

As an important factor, extracellular ATP (eATP) was believed to participate in regulation of stomatal closing. However, the mechanism by which eATP mediates HES-regulated stomatal closure remains unclear. Here, we employed Arabidopsis wild-type and mutant lines of ATP-binding cassette transporters (Atmrp4, Atmrp5 and their double mutant Atmrp4/5) to study the function of eATP in H_2S-regulated stomatal movement. Our results indicated that H_2S affected stomatal closing through stimulating guard cell outward K^+ current. Moreover, we found that HES induced eATP generation by regulating the activity of an ABC transporter. The inhibitor of ABC transporters, glibenclamide (Gli), could impair H_2S-regulated stomatal closure and reduce H_2S-dependent eATP accumulation in Atmrp4 and Atmrp5 mutants. In addition, the promotion effect of H_2S on outward K^+ currents was diminished in Atmrp4/5 double mutant. Our data suggested that hydrogen peroxide (H_2O_2) is required for H_2S-induced stomatal closure, and the production of H_2O_2 is regulated by eATP via NADPH oxidase. Based on this work, we conclude that H_2S-induced stomatal closure requires ABC transporter-dependent eATP pro- duction and subsequent NADPH oxidase-dependent H_2O_2 accumulation.展开更多

Facing with the challenges of environmental disputes explosion, China has to keep up with the trend. A system of environmental courts from institution to procedure rules has been established according to the Swedish Environmental Code of 1999. In contrast, the environmental courts in China are far from perfect, and the reforms of the envi- ronmental courts lack unified legal grounds, specific structural design, and clear procedure rules. An analysis concerning the origin and development, standing, the composition of judges, the litigation costs of the Sweden environmental courts will be revealing and beneficial for the bettering of the Chinese environmental courts system.展开更多
