Based on the exploratory spatial data analysis (ESDA) technique and geographic information system (GIS) platform, with statistic data of counties in 2005, this paper confirms that there is a large population density gap between counties in 2005 because the Gini coefficient is 0.55. Population distribution does not change a lot during the past decades, and the southeast China is still much more densely populated than the northwest China. The global spa- tial autoeorrelation of population distribution is obvious because Moran's I scores 0.42 and local spatial autocorrelation is partly significant. Climate and elevation are still the main natural influ- encing factors. Meanwhile industrial structure and transportation significantly influence population distribution. Different combinations of natural factors have different effects on population distribution. For a long term, climate and terrain factor stability affect population distribution. But its influence will be weakened by progress of technology. Economic development is the main factor that changes population distribution for a short term. 展开更多

Meta information can be generated in parallel mode and network computation can be used to accelerate meta information generation. Most existing rough set methods assume information system to be centralized and cannot be applied directly in distributed information system. Data integration, which is costly, is necessary for such existing methods. However, meta information integration will eliminate the need of data integration in many cases, since many rough set operations can be done straightforward based on meta information, and many existing methods can be modified based on meta information. 展开更多

Resettlement is considered a major policy measure in two major Chinese policy programs,the "Great Development of the West" and poverty alleviation in the new century,and the "New Countryside Development".The selection of the target location of resettlement sites for poverty-stricken villages is of critical importance to the success of resettlement projects,yet the selection process is challenged by the need for analyzing a variety of contributing factors,and the need for many rounds of tedious data processing.So in this paper we present an in-depth analysis of the major factors and data processing model concerning mountainous povertystricken villages,which also takes a major part of China's poor villages.Our analysis shows the following factors bear the most importance in resettlement selection:1) topography:candidate areas should have slope less than 25 degrees and altitude less than 2400 meters.2) accessibility:close to market conventions places and transportation facilities.3) farming resources:with abundant land and water resources.4) non-intrusiveness:interests of receiving villages should be considered and negative impact minimized.A simple measure could be having the candidate area 1000 m away from the receiving residents.5) Minimal ecological and political footprint:candidate areas shall not conflict with nature conservation areas or nationally planned key land use projects.6) Social and cultural compatibility:residents will better off if relocated in the same county,considering language,religion,ethnic culture and other factors.Taking Makuadi,Lushui County of Nujiang Prefecture as a case study,we demonstrate how GIS analysis and modeling tools can be used in the selection process of resettlement projects in mountainous areas. 展开更多

The gap between SDA(Spatial Data Analysis)and GIS(Geographical Information Systems )existed for a long time.Presently this problem still remains in spite of a lot of theore tical and practical studies which tr y to find the solu-tion for it.The research background and current situation about how to in tegrate SDA and GIS are introduced at first.The main idea of this article is to make su re what is the best scheme to bridge th e gap between SDA and GIS and how to design it.There are a lot of factors to influ ence the standards to assess such a sc heme,for instance,the attitude of users and GIS developers,the framework and related functions of current available GI S software in the market and so on.But the two most important ones of them are effic iency and flexibility of the scheme i tself.Efficiency can be measured by the conve-nient extent and temporal length when it is used for carrying out SDA.Flex ibility means users can define their own SDA methods.The best integration schem e should satisfy the two standards at the same time.A group of functions,which can be combined to implement any SDA meth od,are defined in order to design such an integration scheme.The functio ns are divided into five classes according to their properties. 展开更多

Aiming at the integrative management and comprehensive applications of large-scale 3D geospatial information covering the full 3D space of a city, this paper briefly introduces the design and implementation of a full 3D GIS platform: GeoScope, which provides a professional solution for the massive full three-dimensional geospatial data integration, management, analysis, visualization, and applications. GeoScope is characterized by: (1) extendible software architecture based on the hierarchical message bus, facilitates multimodal integrative applications of 2D GIS and 3D GIS; (2) unified 3D city models, support multiscale se- mantic representation of outdoor & indoor and aboveground & underground 3D objects; (3) high-efficient 3D geospatial database engine, supports integrated management of massive 3D geospatial data for real-time applications; and (4) high-performance visualization engine exploiting the massively parallel computation architecture of modem GPUs, supports real-time realistic rendering of large-scale complicated 3D geospatial environments. This study explores the use of augmented reality smart glasses(ARSGs) by physicians and their adoption of these products in the Turkish medical industry.Google Glass was used as a demonstrative example for the introduction of ARSGs. We proposed an exploratory model based on the technology acceptance model by Davis. Exogenous factors in the model were defined by performing semi-structured in-depth interviews, along with the use of an expert panel in addition to the technology adoption literature. The framework was tested by means of a field study, data was collected via an Internet survey, and path analysis was used. The results indicate that there were a number of factors to be considered in order to understand ARSG adoption by physicians.Usefulness was influenced by ease of use, compatibility,ease of reminding, and speech recognition, while ease of use was affected by ease of learning, ease of medical education, external influence, and privacy. Privacy was the only negative factor that reduced the perceived ease of use,and was found to indirectly create a negative attitude.Compatibility emerged as the most significant external factor for usefulness. Developers of ARSGs should pay attention to healthcare-specific requirements for improved utilization and more extensive adoption of ARSGs in healthcare settings. In particular, they should focus on how to increase the compatibility of ARSGs. Further research needs to be conducted to explain the adoption intention of physicians. 展开更多
