Group disparity between commuting mode choice and its spatial distrib...Metropolitan cities in China are commonly confronted with unresolved traffic congestion issues, primarily due to rapidly increasing traffic demand. Group disparity between commuting mode choice and its spatial distribution on road networks has enabled us to examine the factors that give rise to the discrepancies and the fundamental spatial causes of traffic congestion. In recent years, mi- cro-perspective, individual, and behavior-based spatial analysis have mushroomed and been facilitated with effective tools such as tem- poral geographic information systems (T-GIS). It is difficult to study the interrelations between transport and space on the basis of commuting mode choice since the mode choice data are invisible in a specific space such as a particular road network. Therefore, in the field of transport, the classical origin destination (OD) four-stage model (FSM) is usually employed to calculate data when studying commuting mode choice. Based on the relative principles of T-GIS and the platform of ArcGIS, this paper considers Guangzhou as a case study and develops a spatio-temporal tool to examine the daily activities of residents. Meanwhile, the traffic volume distribution in rush hours, which was analyzed according to commuting modes and how they were reflected in the road network, was scrutinized with data extracted from travel diaries. Moreover, efforts were made to explain the relationship between traffic demand and urban spatial structure. Based on the investigation, this research indicates that traffic volumes in divergent groups and on the road networks is driven by: l) the socio-economie characteristics of travelers; 2) a jobs-housing imbalance under suburbanization; 3) differences in the spatial supply of transport modes; 4) the remains of the Danwei (work unit) system and market development in China; and 5) the transition of urban spatial structure and other factors.展开更多

By using the combination of Geography Markup Language (...Our study deals with two major issues impacting current WebGIS development: interoperability of heterogeneous data and visualization of vector data on the Web. By using the combination of Geography Markup Language (GML), Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) and Web Feature Service (WFS) Implementation Specifications developed by the OpenGIS Consortium (OGC), a strategy of WebGIS is proposed. The GML is used as a coding and data transportation mechanism to realize interoperability, the SVG to display GML data on the Web and the WFS as a data query mechanism to access and retrieve data at the feature level in real time on the Web. A case study shows that the combination mentioned above has enormous potential to achieve interoperability while not requiring considerable changes to existing legacy data. Original data formats need not be changed and could still be retrieved using WFS and transformed into GML in real time. SVG can oroduce suoerior ouality vector maps on a Web browser.展开更多

Therefore, how to achieve robust transmission for cognitive relay networks is a challenging task. In this paper, we propose a relaying transmission scheme which exploits robust beamforming at the physical layer and rateless codes at higher layers. We derive the optirml beamforng weight vector and analyze the perforrmnce of the pro- posed scheme when the channel estirmtion is not accurate between two SU nodes. We also study how the anaount of channel information between SU and PU impacts the system perforroance. Sinlation results validate our theoretical analysis and demonstrate that the proposed scheme can signifi- cantly enhance the system throughput.展开更多

The purpose of this study was to identify potentials of new information and communications technologies (ICTs) in agricultural and rural sector. Documentary research and literature review were used as research method. Findings revealed that the most applications for these ICTs in rural and agricultural sector were: E-trade of inputs and outputs, extension and training activities for rural dwellers, advertisement of rural tourism products, knowledge transfer from urban to rural and vice versa, official procedures and geographic information system (GIS) for management of natural resources.展开更多
In order to forecast promising technologies in the field of next generation mobile communication, various patent indicators were analyzed such as citation per patent, patent family information, patent share, increase ...In order to forecast promising technologies in the field of next generation mobile communication, various patent indicators were analyzed such as citation per patent, patent family information, patent share, increase rate, and patent activity. These indicators were quantified into several indexes and then integrated into an evaluation score to provide promising technologies. As a result of the suggested patent analysis, four technologies out of twenty two in details classification were selected, which showed outstanding technology competitiveness, high patent share and increasing rates as well as high recent-patent-ratios and triad-patent-family-ratios. Each of the selected technologies scored more than 10 points in total, and the following four technologies were suggested as promising ones in the field of next generation mobile communication: 1) 3GPP based mobile communication, 2) beyond 4G mobile communication, 3) IEEE 802.16 based mobile communication, which are in medium classification of broadband mobile communication system, and 4) testing/certification system of mobile communication, which is in medium classification of mobile communication testing/certification system.展开更多

It can achieve the SIR as the sequence length approaches infinity while the complexity is extremely low. Finally, both theoretic proof and numerical simulation are performed to show the op- timality. Simulation results show that it nearly achieves the theoretic bound and outperforms the Viterbi Detector (VD) with 2dB in low Eb/N0.展开更多

In the beginning, ICT are applied to the digitalization of tasks and processes within the organization that facilitates the transition to the stage of integration of information systems and internal communication. Once this level of maturity is reached, it is possible to extend the application oflCT in inter-organizational processes. The main objective of this work is to identify factors that encourage the integration of inter-organizational information systems and the development of the extended value chain. One of the difficulties that this kind of study has to face is on the lack of precise empirical tools that enable comparability of results, both in time and between sectors and countries. It is therefore necessary to perform specific works that shed light on whether the efforts of local organizations to integrate ICT enhance collaborative processes with the environment and the factors influencing these results. It was applied a mixed methodology that combines ad-hoc survey and Tool Assessment Websites, carried out on 23 industrial manufacturing companies located in Rosario and Cordoba Argentina. The search was oriented to the identification of a limited number of indicators, but with the advantage of being amenable to being followed in time, for a number of companies in the region under study. The results indicate that companies with customers and/or suppliers abroad denote a higher level of maturity in the application of ICT.展开更多

With the wide applications of sensor network technology in traffic information acquisition systems,a new measure will be quite necessary to evaluate spatially related properties of traffic information credibility.The ...With the wide applications of sensor network technology in traffic information acquisition systems,a new measure will be quite necessary to evaluate spatially related properties of traffic information credibility.The heterogeneity of spatial distribution of information credibility from sensor networks is analyzed and a new measure,information credibility function(ICF),is proposed to describe this heterogeneity.Three possible functional forms of sensor ICF and their corresponding expressions are presented.Then,two feasible operations of spatial superposition of sensor ICFs are discussed.Finally,a numerical example is introduced to show the calibration method of sensor ICF and obtain the spatially related properties of expressway in Beijing.The results show that the sensor ICF of expressway in Beijing possesses a negative exponent property.The traffic information is more abundant at or near the locations of sensor,while with the distance away from the sensor increasing,the traffic information credibility will be declined by an exponential trend.The new measure provides theoretical bases for the optimal locations of traffic sensor networks and the mechanism research of spatial distribution of traffic information credibility.展开更多
One of the most powerful functions of Geographic Information System for Transportation (GIS-T) is Dynamic Segmentation (DS), which is used to increase the efficiency and precision of road management by generating segm...One of the most powerful functions of Geographic Information System for Transportation (GIS-T) is Dynamic Segmentation (DS), which is used to increase the efficiency and precision of road management by generating segments based on attributes. The road segments describing transportation data are both spatially and temporally referenced. For a variety of transportation applications, historical road segments must be preserved. This study presents an appropriate approach to preserve and retrieve the historical road segments efficiently. In the proposed method, only the portions of segments of a time stamp that have been changed into new segments rather than storing the entire segments for every old time stamp are recorded .The storage of these portions is based on the type of changes. A recursive algorithm is developed to retrieve all segments for every old time stamp. Experimental results using real data of Tehran City, Iran justify the strength of the proposed approach in many aspects. An important achievement of the results is that database volume for 2006, 2007 and 2008 within the Historical Line Event Table (HLET) is reduced by 70%, 80% and 78%, respectively. The proposed method has the potential to prevent from vast data redundancy and the unnecessary storage of entire segments for each time stamp. Since the present technique is performed on ordinary plain tables that are readable by all GIS software, special software platforms to manage the storage and retrieval of historical segments are not needed. In addition, this method simplifies spatio-temporal queries.展开更多

By combining a groundwater monitoring network, GPS monitor- ing...Due to long-term over-exploitation of groundwater in Beijing Municipality, regional groundwater funnels have formed and land subsidence has been induced. By combining a groundwater monitoring network, GPS monitor- ing network data, radar satellite SAR data, GIS and other new technologies, a coupled process model based on the dy- namic variation of groundwater and the deformation response of land subsidence has been established. The dynamic variation of groundwater fimnels and the land subsidence response process were analyzed systematically in Beijing. Study results indicate that current groundwater funnel areas are distributed mainly in the southwest of Shunyi District, the northeast of Chaoyang District and the northwest of Tongzhou District, with an average decline rate of groundwa- ter level of 2.66 rn/yr and a maximum of 3.82 m/yr in the center of the funnels. Seasonal and interannual differences exist in the response model of land subsidence to groundwater funnels with uneven spatial and temporal distribution, where the maximum land subsidence rate was about --41.08 mm/yr and the area with a subsidence rate greater than 30 mm/yr was about 1637.29 km2. Although a consistency was revealed to exist between a groundwater funnel and the spatial distribution characteristics of the corresponding land subsidence funnel, this consistency was not perfect. The results showed that the response model of land subsidence to the dynamic variation of groundwater was more revealing when combining conventional technologies with InSAR, GIS, GPS, providing a new strategy for environmental and hydrogeological research and a scientific basis for regional land subsidence control.展开更多

文摘The paper studied the connection between internet of things (lOT) technology and transportation industry. Meanwhile, the definition of IOT in transportation was given. Concerning that many problems occurred during the process of traditional intelligent transportation system, the paper proposed a promising model of lOT in transportation. The advantage of the information utilization model from information to function was confirmed through comparative study. Finally, the model presented that a real interconnection of transportation would be achieved based on the unified information collection. It can greatly save cost on technology transfer, exploit potential value of information, and promote the emergence of a sustainable information service market and the industrial upgrade.
文摘In this paper, the incorporation and use of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) in organizations are recognized as a process that occurs in stages involving progressive levels of maturity towards the integration of the extended value chain. In the beginning, ICT are applied to the digitalization of tasks and processes within the organization that facilitates the transition to the stage of integration of information systems and internal communication. Once this level of maturity is reached, it is possible to extend the application oflCT in inter-organizational processes. The main objective of this work is to identify factors that encourage the integration of inter-organizational information systems and the development of the extended value chain. One of the difficulties that this kind of study has to face is on the lack of precise empirical tools that enable comparability of results, both in time and between sectors and countries. It is therefore necessary to perform specific works that shed light on whether the efforts of local organizations to integrate ICT enhance collaborative processes with the environment and the factors influencing these results. It was applied a mixed methodology that combines ad-hoc survey and Tool Assessment Websites, carried out on 23 industrial manufacturing companies located in Rosario and Cordoba Argentina. The search was oriented to the identification of a limited number of indicators, but with the advantage of being amenable to being followed in time, for a number of companies in the region under study. The results indicate that companies with customers and/or suppliers abroad denote a higher level of maturity in the application of ICT.
文摘An automated underground mine monitoring and communication system based on the integration of new technologies is introduced to promote safety and health,operational management and cost-effectiveness.The proposed system integration considering Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) assisted Geographic Information System(GIS) enables to monitor and control underground mining applications from surface office.Based on the capabilities of WSNs,ZigBee network is adapted for near real-time monitoring,ventilation system control and emergency communication in underground mine.ZigBee nodes were developed to sense environmental attributes such as temperature,humidity and gases concentration;switching ON and OFF ventilation fans;and texting emergency messages.A trigger action plan for monitored attributes above normal and threshold value limits is programmed in the surface GIS management server.It is designed to turn the auxiliary fans on remotely or automatically in orange condition and sending evacuation messages for underground miners in unsafe(red) condition.Multi-users operation and 3D visualisations are other successful achievements of the proposed system for the underground monitoring and communication.

文摘With the wide applications of sensor network technology in traffic information acquisition systems,a new measure will be quite necessary to evaluate spatially related properties of traffic information credibility.The heterogeneity of spatial distribution of information credibility from sensor networks is analyzed and a new measure,information credibility function(ICF),is proposed to describe this heterogeneity.Three possible functional forms of sensor ICF and their corresponding expressions are presented.Then,two feasible operations of spatial superposition of sensor ICFs are discussed.Finally,a numerical example is introduced to show the calibration method of sensor ICF and obtain the spatially related properties of expressway in Beijing.The results show that the sensor ICF of expressway in Beijing possesses a negative exponent property.The traffic information is more abundant at or near the locations of sensor,while with the distance away from the sensor increasing,the traffic information credibility will be declined by an exponential trend.The new measure provides theoretical bases for the optimal locations of traffic sensor networks and the mechanism research of spatial distribution of traffic information credibility.
文摘One of the most powerful functions of Geographic Information System for Transportation (GIS-T) is Dynamic Segmentation (DS), which is used to increase the efficiency and precision of road management by generating segments based on attributes. The road segments describing transportation data are both spatially and temporally referenced. For a variety of transportation applications, historical road segments must be preserved. This study presents an appropriate approach to preserve and retrieve the historical road segments efficiently. In the proposed method, only the portions of segments of a time stamp that have been changed into new segments rather than storing the entire segments for every old time stamp are recorded .The storage of these portions is based on the type of changes. A recursive algorithm is developed to retrieve all segments for every old time stamp. Experimental results using real data of Tehran City, Iran justify the strength of the proposed approach in many aspects. An important achievement of the results is that database volume for 2006, 2007 and 2008 within the Historical Line Event Table (HLET) is reduced by 70%, 80% and 78%, respectively. The proposed method has the potential to prevent from vast data redundancy and the unnecessary storage of entire segments for each time stamp. Since the present technique is performed on ordinary plain tables that are readable by all GIS software, special software platforms to manage the storage and retrieval of historical segments are not needed. In addition, this method simplifies spatio-temporal queries.

For disseminating a research data and information, it is important to use a simple language and an effective communication. The data research produced by specialists has three formal levels: The third one of communication system aims to break barriers to reach a wide audience. The present study wants to demonstrate the role of images in the process of deductive inference by three dimensional (3D) reconstruction of cultural heritage. The case study of Federico da Montefeltro office shows how inter-disciplinary works and technological resource can help society to understand history and meaning of heritage.

文摘Due to long-term over-exploitation of groundwater in Beijing Municipality, regional groundwater funnels have formed and land subsidence has been induced. By combining a groundwater monitoring network, GPS monitor- ing network data, radar satellite SAR data, GIS and other new technologies, a coupled process model based on the dy- namic variation of groundwater and the deformation response of land subsidence has been established. The dynamic variation of groundwater fimnels and the land subsidence response process were analyzed systematically in Beijing. Study results indicate that current groundwater funnel areas are distributed mainly in the southwest of Shunyi District, the northeast of Chaoyang District and the northwest of Tongzhou District, with an average decline rate of groundwa- ter level of 2.66 rn/yr and a maximum of 3.82 m/yr in the center of the funnels. Seasonal and interannual differences exist in the response model of land subsidence to groundwater funnels with uneven spatial and temporal distribution, where the maximum land subsidence rate was about --41.08 mm/yr and the area with a subsidence rate greater than 30 mm/yr was about 1637.29 km2. Although a consistency was revealed to exist between a groundwater funnel and the spatial distribution characteristics of the corresponding land subsidence funnel, this consistency was not perfect. The results showed that the response model of land subsidence to the dynamic variation of groundwater was more revealing when combining conventional technologies with InSAR, GIS, GPS, providing a new strategy for environmental and hydrogeological research and a scientific basis for regional land subsidence control.
