The inaccurate measurement for the maintenance level of an aero-engine can induce higher overhaul maintenance costs. Variable precision rough set (VPRS) theory is used to determine the maintenance level of an aero-engine. According to the relationship between condition information and performance parameters of aero-engine modules, decision rules are established for reflecting the real condition of an aeroengine when its maintenance level needs to be determined. Finally, the CF6 engine is used as an example to illustrate the method to be effective. 展开更多

The metal complex 5-(4-aminophenyl)-10,15,20-triphenylporphyrin copper (CuAPTPP) was covalently linked on the surface of TiO2 microspheres by using toluene disocyanate (TDI) as a bridging bond unit. The hydroxyl group (-OH) of TiO2 microspheres surface and the amino group (-NH2) of CuAPTPP reacted respectively with the active -NCO groups of TDI to form a surface conjugated microsphere CuAPTPP-TDI-TiO2 that was confirmed by FT-IR spectra. The CuAPTPP-TDI-TiO2 microspheres were characterized with UV-visible, elemental analysis, XRD, SEM, and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra. The effect of amounts of linked TDI on the performance of photocatalytic microspheres was discussed, and the optimal molar ratio of TDI:TiO2 was established. The photocatalytic activity of CuAPTPP- TDI-TiO2 was evaluated using the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible-light irradiation. The results showed that, TDI, as a bond unit, was used to form a steady chemical brigdging bond linking CuAPTPP and the surface of TiO2 microspheres, and the prepared catalyst exhibited higher photocatalytic activity under visible-light irradiation for MB degradation. The degradation rate of 20 mg/L MB could reach 98.7% under Xe- lamp (150 W) irradiation in 120 rain. The degradation of MB followed the first-order reaction model under visible light irradiation, and the rate constant of 5.1× 10^-2 min-1 and the half- life of 11.3 min were achieved. And the new photocatalyst can be recycled for 4 times, remaining 90.0% MB degradation rate. 展开更多

To diagnose the feasibility of the solution of a job-shop scheduling problem(JSSP),a test algorithm based on diagraph and heuristic search is developed and verified through a case study.Meanwhile,a new repair algorithm for modifying an infeasible solution of the JSSP to become a feasible solution is proposed for the general JSSP.The computational complexity of the test algorithm and the repair algorithm is both O(n) under the worst-case scenario,and O(2J+M) for the repair algorithm under the best-case scenario.The repair algorithm is not limited to specific optimization methods,such as local tabu search,genetic algorithms and shifting bottleneck procedures for job shop scheduling,but applicable to generic infeasible solutions for the JSSP to achieve feasibility. 展开更多

In order to analyze the failure data from repairable systems, the homogeneous Poisson process (HPP) is usually used. In general, HPP cannot be applied to analyze the entire life cycle of a complex, re-pairable system because the rate of occurrence of failures (ROCOF) of the system changes over time rather than remains stable. However, from a practical point of view, it is always preferred to apply the simplest method to address problems and to obtain useful practical results. Therefore, we attempted to use the HPP model to analyze the failure data from real repairable systems. A graphic method and the Laplace test were also used in the analysis. Results of numerical applications show that the HPP model may be a useful tool for the entire life cycle of repairable systems. 展开更多

Taking the multi-component system as research object, a maintenance optimization model based on the unequal inspection period and imperfect repair is established by considering the requirement of expected availability for improving the system's availability. An age reduction factor is used to describe the effect of imperfect repair, and the modelling approach for the unequal inspection period is proposed. Unavailable situations are classified into three kinds of independent cases, and the availability is calculated accordingly. Based on the analysis of the relationship between the unavailable cases and the unequal inspection period, an optimization model under imperfect repair is established to optimize the system's expected availability. A case study of a wind turbine is provided, and three key components, i.e. gearbox, generator and spindle, are considered. The optimization results of the unequal inspection period model and the equal inspection period model are compared. The results show that the unequal inspection period model based on availability can update the maintenance plan so as to optimize maintenance activities and improve the system's availability. 展开更多

Simulation results agree with the experimental observations. Objective This study aims to test the acceptance, feasibility, and usefulness of the Arabic version of the revised Edmonton Symptom AssesSment System (ESAS-r) among Egyptian patients with advanced cancer and to compare the rates of symptoms documented by patients and physicians. Methods Between August 2014 and February 2015, a total of 140 patients at Ain Shams University Hospitals in Cairo, Egypt received the Arabic version of the ESAS-r. For each patient, the ESAS-r was completed twice, first by the treating physician (as part of the basic assessment) and a second time by the patient, with a maximum of 2 hours between the two assessments. An additional survey was included to assess patients' acceptance of the survey and their preferences. Results Out of 140 enrolled patients in the study, 11 patients refused to complete the questionnaire, and 10 patients were excluded due to incomplete records in their medical records. Complete data was retrieved for 119 patients who were included for further analyses. The 78 (65%) patients declared that the test was clear and easy to complete. They were able to answer the test without help. Collectively, tiredness and sense of well-being were the most commonly encountered symptoms in ratings obtained by both patients and physicians. Tiredness was the only symptom showing a significant difference between the two rating methods, patient-rated scores being higher (P = 0.032). Cronbach's alpha showed that both tests com- pleted by the physician and the patients were internally consistent: the physician-rated test had a coefficient of 0.877, and the patient-rated test had a coefficient of 0.863. All ESAS scores had good internal consis- tency, with a Cmnbach's alpha coefficient of 0.88. The internal consistency remained high after removal of individual symptom scores, with Cronbach's alpha coefficients ranging from 0.823 to 0.902, indicating that no individual question had undue influence on the total ESAS score. Conclusion The ESAS-r was easily understood by and applicable to patients. There was no significant discrepancy in the rates of symptoms reported by the patients and physicians, apart from tiredness. Based on this, the test could be applied on a larger scale with in-home patients. This test can be cost-effective and can decrease the number of hospital visits among advanced cancer patients in need of supportive treat- ment rather than active cancer therapy. 展开更多

AIM: To introduce and evaluate a new method to re- pair bile duct defect with a degradable stent and au- tologous tissues. METHODS: Eight Ba-Ma mini-pigs were used in this study, Experimental models with common bile duct (CBD) defect (0,5-1,0 cm segment of CBD resected) were established and then CBD was reconstructed by duct to duct anastomosis with a novel degradable stent made of poly [sebacic acid-co-(1,3-propanediol)-co- (1,2-propanediol)]. In addition, a vascularized greater omentum was placed around the stent and both ends of CBD. Cholangiography via gall bladder was per- formed for each pig at postoperative months 1 and 3 to rule out stent translocation and bile duct stricture. Complete blood count was examined pre- and post- operatively to estimate the inflammatory reaction. Liver enzymes and serum bilirubin were examined pre- and post-operatively to evaluate the liver function. Five pigs were sacrificed at month 3 to evaluate the healing of anastomosis. The other three pigs were raised for one year for long-term observation. RESULTS: All the animals underwent surgery success- fully. There was no intraoperative mortality and no bile leakage during the observation period, The white blood cell counts were only slightly increased on day 14 and month 3 postoperatively compared with that before operation, the difference was not statistically significant (P = 0.652). The plasma level of alanine aminotrans- ferase on day 14 and month 3 postoperatively was also not significantly elevated compared with that before operation (P = 0.810). Nevertheless, the plasma level of y-glutamyl transferase was increased after opera- tion in both groups (P = 0.004), especially 2 wk after operation. The level of serum total bilirubin after opera- tion was not significantly elevated compared with that before operation (P = 0.227), so did the serum direct bilirubin (P = 0.759). By cholangiography yia gall blad- der, we found that the stent maintained its integrity of shape and was stillin situ at month 1, and it disap- peared completely at month 3. No severe CBD dilation and stricture were observed at both months 1 and 3. No pig died during the 3-too postoperative observation period. No sign of necrosis, bile duct stricture, bile leak- age or abdominal abscess was found at reoperation at month 3 postoperatively. Pigs had neither fragments of stent nor stones formed in the CBD. Collagen deposit was observed in the anastomosis by hematoxylin and eosin (HE) and Masson's trichrome stains. No severe cholestasis was observed in liver parenchyma by HE staining. Intestinal obstruction was found in a pig 4 mo after operation, and no bile leakage, bile duct stricture or biliary obstruction were observed in laparotomy. No sign of bile duct stricture or bile leakage was observed in the other two pigs. CONCLUSION: The novel method for repairing bile duct defect yielded a good short-term effect without postoperative bile duct stricture. However, the long- term effect should be further studied. 展开更多

The construction of S‐scheme heterojunction photocatalysts has been regarded as an effective avenue to facilitate the conversion of solar energy to fuel.However,there are still considerable challenges with regard to efficient charge transfer,the abundance of catalytic sites,and extended light absorption.Herein,an S‐scheme heterojunction of 2D/2D zinc porphyrin‐based metal‐organic frameworks/BiVO_(4)nanosheets(Zn‐MOF/BVON)was fabricated for efficient photocatalytic CO_(2)conversion.The optimal one shows a 22‐fold photoactivity enhancement when compared to the previously reported BiVO4 nanoflake(ca.15 nm),and even exhibits~2‐time improvement than the traditional g‐C3N4/BiVO4 heterojunction.The excellent photoactivities are ascribed to the strengthened S‐scheme charge transfer and separation,promoted CO_(2)activation by the well‐dispersed metal nodes Zn_(2)(COO)_(4)in the Zn‐MOF,and extended visible light response range based on the results of the electrochemical reduction,electron paramagnetic resonance,and in‐situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy.The dimension‐matched Zn‐MOF/BVON S‐scheme heterojunction endowed with highly efficient charge separation and abundant catalytic active sites contributed to the superior CO2 conversion.This study offers a facile strategy for constructing S‐scheme heterojunctions involving porphyrin‐based MOFs for solar fuel production. 展开更多

This paper focuses on the problem of control law optimization for marine vessels working in a dynamical positioning (DP) regime. The approach proposed here is based on the use of a special unified multipurpose control law structure constructed on the basis of nonlinear asymptotic observers, that allows the decoupling of a synthesis into simpler particular optimization problems. The primary reason for the observers is to restore deficient information concerning the unmeasured velocities of the vessel. Using a number of separate items in addition to the observers, it is possible to achieve desirable dynamical features of the closed loop connection. The most important feature is the so-called dynamical corrector, and this paper is therefore devoted to solving its optimal synthesis in marine vessels controlled by DP systems under the action of sea wave disturbances. The problem involves the need for minimal intensity of the control action determined by high frequency sea wave components. A specialized approach for designing the dynamical corrector is proposed and the applicability and effectiveness of the approach are illustrated using a practical example of underwater DP system synthesis. 展开更多

Sampling studies in North Dakota conducted from 1994 to 2003 showed that variable-rate N application could be practically directed with zone soil sampling. Results from variable-rate N studies using zone soil sampling were often less than rewarding due in part to the use of a whole-field predicted yield-based formula for developing the N recommendation in each zone. Nitrogen rate studies on spring wheat and durum were established in 2005 through 2009 with the objective to reexamine N recommendations and construct a new system if necessary. The results of the study and archived wheat N response data showed that the state should be divided into three separate N response regions. Within each region historic yields from low to high productivity were defined. The gross N rate was determined using the return-to-N concept developed in the US corn-belt states but with additional consideration for wheat protein value The gross N rate is then modified by credits for previous crop, soil test N from zone soil sampling, tillage systems, excessive straw from the previous year, relative susceptibility to nitrate leaching or denitrification. Against the deficiencies of component-based software(CBS) reliability modeling and analysis,for instance,importing too many assumptions,paying less attention to debugging process without considering imperfect debugging and change-point(CP) problems adequately,an approach of CBS reliability process analysis is proposed which incorporates the imperfect debugging and CP.First,perfect/imperfect debugging and CP are reviewed.Based on the queuing theory,a multi-queue multichannel and infinite server queuing model(MMISQM) is presented to sketch the integration test process of CBS.Meanwhile,considering the effects of imperfect debugging and CP,expressions for fault detection and correction are derived based on MMISQM.Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed model can sketch the integration test process of CBS with preferable performance which outperforms other models. 展开更多

Gold catalysis had been considered a highly efficient candidate for heterogeneous catalysis.It is well established that reducible-material-supported Au NPs are more reactive than the unreducible materials,unless specific modifications are carried out.However,unreducible materials such as carbon materials,silica,and alumina have particular advantages,including the easily controlled surface property,adjustable microscopic structure,earth-abundant reserves,and facile industrial manufacture.New strategies,influences,and mechanisms of modification to enhance the catalytic performance and thermal stability of unreducible-material-supported gold catalysts are among the most attractive research topics in gold catalysis.However,to the best of our knowledge,reports and reviews focused on unreducible-material-supported gold catalysts are lacking.Herein,the above concept will be thoroughly discussed regarding several typical unreducible supports,including the commonly used silica,alumina,carbon materials,and hydroxyapatite.The currently prevailing modification strategies will be summarized in detail from the aspects of theoretical conceptualization and practical methodology,including the ingenious synthesis method for catalyst with a specific structure,the currently prosperous electrostatic adsorption,colloid immobilization,and the applicative thermal gaseous treatment.The influences of physical and chemical modifications on the surface chemistry,electronic structure,interaction/synergy between Au-support/promoter,catalyst morphology and water precipitation will be also summarized.It is assumed that the review will shed light on significant studies on unreducible support in gold catalysis with the purpose of catalytic promotion and the promotion of the potential industrial demands in advance.Furthermore,the review will provide new insights into unreducible supports that can be potentially applied in gold catalysis. 展开更多
