Effects of vegetation coverage and seasonal change on soil microbial biomass and community structure in the dry-hot valley region 被引量:4

Soil microorganisms are sensitive indicator of soil health and quality. Understanding the effects of vegetation biomass and seasonal change on soil microorganisms is vital to evaluate the soil quality and implement vegetation restoration. This study analyzed the soil phospholipid fatty acids(PLFAs) in fresh and withered Kudzu(Pueraria montana var. lobata) vegetation conditions in different seasons. The results showed that vegetation biomass and seasonal change significantly affected microbial biomass and its community structure. Both fresh and withered Kudzu cover significantly increased soil microbial biomass, and the growth effect of microbes in the soil with fresh Kudzu cover was more obvious than that with withered Kudzu cover. Compared with the dry season, the rainy season significantly increased the microbial biomass and the B/F(the ratio of bacterial to fungal PLFAs) ratio but dramatically reduced the G+/G-(the ratio of gram-positive to gram-negative bacteria PLFAs). Kudzu cover and seasonal change had a significant effect on microbial structure in soil covered by higher vegetation biomass. Furthermore, soil temperature and moisture had different correlations with specific microbial biomass in the two seasons. Our findings highlight the effect of Kudzu vine cover on the soil microenvironment and soil microhabitat, enhancing the soil quality in the Dry-hot Valley of Jinsha River, Southwest China. 展开更多

This paper discribes the definition of ecosystem health for the water-level flutuation zone of the Three Gorges Region and puts forward an evaluation system involving indicators in three groups: 1) structural indicators comprise slope, biodiversity, environmental capacity, stability, restoration ability and damage situation; 2) functional indicators including probability of geological hazard, erosion rate, habitat rate, land use intension and days of tourist season; 3) environmental indicatiors made up of population quality, potential intension of human, ground water quality, ambient air quality, wastewater treatment rate, pesticide use rate, fertilizer use rate, environmental management and public participation. Effect of Glutamine on Serum GPT and AKP in Healthy Puppies

The experiment was to study the effect of glutamine on serum GPT and AKP activity in the puppies. Sixteen 60 day-old Germany Shepherd puppies[weight of (5.86±0.22) kg] were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups, one group fed basal diet was the control group, another group fed basal diet and supplemented with 1.2% glutamine was the experimental group. Trial period was 21 days. GPT and AKP activity were detected on 7th, 14th and 21 st day respectively. Dietary sup- plementation with 1.2% glutamine enhanced (P〈0.05) its activity of serum GPT and AKP compared with the control group. This experiment proved that glutamine could improve these two kinds of enzyme activity in serum, promotes protein synthesis, raise puppies anti-stress effect. 展开更多
