To solve this problem, a test system for invert switch is presented to verify the reliability of the invert switch. The test system uses complex programmable logic device (CPLD) to control data acquisition of A/D converter and data storage of external flash memory, and then transmits the acquired data to a computer for data analysis and processing. The test system can provide the required sampling frequency of the signal in high temperature, normal temperature and low temperature environments, and the reliability of the invert switch can be verified according to the signal parameters. The results show that the test system has high precision and the tested invert switch has low power consumption and high reliability.展开更多

In the experiment, a box-shaped floating oil storage apparatus is used. Computations are performed by an improved CIP-based Cartesian grid model, in which the THINC/SW scheme (THINC: tangent of hyperbola for interface capturing; SW: Slope Weighting), is used for interface capturing. A multiphase flow solver is adopted to treat the water-air-body interactions. The Immersed Boundary Method (IBM) is implemented to treat the body surface. Main attention is paid to the sum force of mooring line and velocity field around the body. It is found that the sum force of the mooring line increases with increasing wave amplitude. The body suffers from water wave impact and large body motions occur near the free surface. The vortex occurs near the sharp edge, i.e., the sharp bottom comers of the float- ing oil storage tank and the vortex shedding can be captured by the present numerical model. The present model could be further improved by including turbulence model which is currently under development. Comparison between the computational mooring forces and the measured mooring forces is presented with a reasonable agreement. The developed numerical model can predict the mooring line forces very well.展开更多

Many of these devices suffer from serious constraints in three main areas: processor speed, memory space and screen size. This paper presents a GIS application, called "MacaoMap", that is intended for heavily resource-co nstrained handheld devices. MacaoMap is a tourism-oriented map application of t he Macao territory for PalmOS and Pocket PC personal digital assistants. It was designed to perform satisfactorily on devices with as little as 16 MHz processor speed, and requires only 500 KB available memory for the GIS application and al l GIS data. Memory requirements are kept low through a specially designed data f ormat. The main challenge of satisfactory map drawing speed is addressed through a variety of techniques that were developed for this application. The paper des cribes the application’s data format, outlines the map drawing techniques, and points out the areas for future development.展开更多

The layout of an SP-AS/RS based yard is described in detail. To achieve an efficient operation, we present a novel yard space allocation policy called the ‘second-carrier-based allocation policy’, which can help to alleviate the out-of-sequence problem of containers and the congestion of vehicles at the AS/RS racks. Different allocation policies are compared by an integrated container terminal simulation system. The simulation results show that the second-carrier-based policy is very efficient and has the potential to offer high terminal performance.展开更多

The workflow has to be continuous, implying that the no-wait conditions must be abided, which is typical in steel and plastic production. We discuss the three-machine no-wait flowshop scheduling problem where the setup times are considered as separated from processing times and sequence independent. The scheduling goal is to minimize the total flowtime. An optimal property and two heuristic algorithms for this problem are proposed. Evaluated over a large number of problems, the proposed heuristics are found that they can yield good solutions effectively with low computational complexity, and have more obvious advantage for the large size problem compared with the existing one.展开更多

Nevertheless, in wideband communication systems, PA memory effects can no longer be ignored and memoryless predistortion cannot linearize PAs effectively. After analyzing PA memory effects, a novel predistortion method based on wavelet networks (WNs) is proposed to linearize wideband RF power amplifiers. A complex wavelet network with tapped delay lines is applied to construct the predistorter and then a complex backpropagation algorithm is developed to train the predistorter parameters. The simulation results show that compared with the previously published feed-forward neural network predistortion method, the proposed method provides faster convergence rate and better performance in reducing out-of-band spectral regrowth.展开更多
