In this work, an LQR control algorithm with superelement model is intended to solve this issue leading to the fact that LQR control algorithm can be used in large finite element(FE) model for structure. In proposed model, the Craig-Bampton(C-B) method, which is one of the component mode syntheses(CMS), is used to establish superelement modeling to reduce structure's DOF and applied to LQR control algorithm to calculate Kalman gain matrix and obtain control forces. And then, the control forces are applied to original structure to simulate the responses of structure by vibration control. And some examples are given. The results show the computational efficiency of proposed model using synthesized models is higher than that of the classical method of LQR control when the DOF of structure is large. And the accuracy of proposed model is well. Meanwhile, the results show that the proposed control has more effects of vibration absorption on the ground structures than underground structures.展开更多

Presplitting is one of the most common methods which is used in many open pit mining and surface blast design. The purpose of presplitting is to form a fracture plane across which the radial cracks from the production blast cannot travel. The purpose of this study is to investigate of effect of presplitting on the generation of a smooth wall in continuum and jointed rock mass. The 2D distinct element code was used to simulate the presplitting in a rock slope. The blast load history as a function of time was applied to the inner wall of each blasthole. Important parameters that were considered in the analysis were stress tensor and fracturing pattern. The blast loading magnitude and blasthole spacing and jointing pattern were found to be very significant in the final results.展开更多

A three-dimensional finite element simulation was carried out to investigate the effects of tunnel construction on nearby pile foundation.The displacement controlled model (DCM) was used to simulate the tunneling-indu...A three-dimensional finite element simulation was carried out to investigate the effects of tunnel construction on nearby pile foundation.The displacement controlled model (DCM) was used to simulate the tunneling-induced volume loss effects.The numerical model was verified based on the results of a centrifuge test and a set of parametric studies was implemented based on this model.There is good agreement between the trend of the results of the centrifuge test and the present model.The results of parametric studies show that the tunnelling-induced pile internal force and deformation depend mainly on the pile?tunnel distance,the pile length to tunnel depth ratio and the volume loss.Two different zones are separated by a 45° line projected from the tunnel springline.Within the zone of influence,the pile is subjected to tensile force and large settlement;whereas outside the zone of influence,dragload and small settlement are induced.It is also established that the impact of tunnelling on a pile group is substantially smaller as compared with a single pile in the same location with the rear pile in a group,demonstrating a positive pile group effect.展开更多

It is to note that the traditional control approaches may generally be upgraded, as long as a number of modifications are made with respect to state-of-the-art, in order to propose high-precision outcomes. Regarding the investigated issues, the robust sliding mode finite-time control approach is first designed to handle three-axis angular rates in the inner control loop, which consists of the pulse width pulse frequency modulations in line with the control allocation scheme and the system dynamics. The main subject to employ these modulations that is realizing in association with the control allocation scheme is to be able to handle a class of overactuated systems, in particular. The proportional derivative based linear quadratic regulator approach is then designed to handle three-axis rotational angles in the outer control loop, which consists of the system kinematics that is correspondingly concentrated to deal with the quaternion based model. The utilization of the linear and its nonlinear terms, simultaneously, are taken into real consideration as the research motivation, while the performance results are of the significance as the improved version in comparison with the recent investigated outcomes. Subsequently, there is a stability analysis to verify and guarantee the closed loop system performance in coping with the whole of nominal referenced commands. Based on the real-time analysis of the compaction index, a multiple regression model of the dam compactness was established and a realime estimation method of compaction quality for the entire work area of roller compacted concrete dam was proposed finally. The adaptive adjustment of the roiling process parameters was achieved, with the speed, the exciting force, the roller pass and the compaction thickness meeting the standards during the whole construction process. As a result, the compaction quality and construction efficiency can be improved. The research provides a new way for the construction quality control of roller compacted concrete dam.展开更多
This paper is concerned with bifurcations and chaos control of the Hindmarsh-Rose(HR)neuronal model with the time-delayed feedback control.By stability and bifurcation analysis,we find that the excitable neuron can em...This paper is concerned with bifurcations and chaos control of the Hindmarsh-Rose(HR)neuronal model with the time-delayed feedback control.By stability and bifurcation analysis,we find that the excitable neuron can emit spikes via the subcritical Hopf bifurcation,and exhibits periodic or chaotic spiking/bursting behaviors with the increase of external current.For the purpose of control of chaos,we adopt the time-delayed feedback control,and convert chaos control to the Hopf bifurcation of the delayed feedback system.Then the analytical conditions under which the Hopf bifurcation occurs are given with an explicit formula.Based on this,we show the Hopf bifurcation curves in the two-parameter plane.Finally,some numerical simulations are carried out to support the theoretical results.It is shown that by appropriate choice of feedback gain and time delay,the chaotic orbit can be controlled to be stable.The adopted method in this paper is general and can be applied to other neuronal models.It may help us better understand the bifurcation mechanisms of neural behaviors.展开更多

Both anatomical and neuromuscu...Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is characterized by recurrent collapses of the upper airway, which lead to repetitive transient hypoxia, arousals and finally sleep fragmentation. Both anatomical and neuromuscular factors may play key roles in the pathophysiology of OSAS. The purpose of this paper was to study the control mechanism of OSAS from the mechanical point of view. A three-dimensional finite element model was developed, which not only reconstructed the realistic anatomical structure of the human upper airway, but also included surrounding structures such as the skull, neck, hyoid, cartilage and soft tissues. The respiration process during the normal and apnea states was simulated with the fluid-structure interaction method (FSI) and the computational fluid dynamics method (CFD). The airflow and deformation of the upper airway obtained from the FSI and the CFD method were compared and the results obtained under large negative pressure during an apnea episode were analyzed. The simulation results show that the FSI method is more feasible and effective than the CFD method. The concave configuration of the upper airway may accelerate the collapse of the upper airway in a positive feedback mechanism, which supplies meaningful information for clinical treatment and further research of OSAS.展开更多
Elastic-plastic steel damper(EPSD) is a new device controlling seismic responses.The mechanical principle of EPSD was presented and a comparison was conducted between the theoretical formulas and finite element(FE) si...Elastic-plastic steel damper(EPSD) is a new device controlling seismic responses.The mechanical principle of EPSD was presented and a comparison was conducted between the theoretical formulas and finite element(FE) simulation of damper units.The verified force-displacement hysteretic curve of the damper system was obtained with reference to tests.The Nanjing Jiangxinzhou Bridge(NJB) was subsequently taken as the case to investigate the seismic response control effect of EPSDs on single-tower self-anchored suspension bridges.A 3-dimensional FE model of the bridge was established in ANSYS and the dynamic and static analyses of the bridge were conducted,the control effect of EPSDs under different seismic waves was further investigated through nonlinear time-history analysis based on the validated model.Results showed that both the simplified theoretical and FE simulation methods can preferable reflect the mechanical performance of EPSD,and that seismic responses of NJB with EPSDs are better than those with elastic connection device or fluid viscous damper.However,the control effect of EPSDs is influenced by seismic wave characteristics.展开更多
