During battery’s working, the voltage, capacity, temperature and internal resistance were recorded, corresponding curves were depicted. Variations of the aforementioned four parameters are differently obvious. Ending criteria of charge and discharge of Ni/MH batteries are discussed on the basis of the curves. Voltage, capacity and temperature of a battery can be used as ending criteria during charge. When discharge takes place, voltage, capacity and internal resistance can be chosen as ending criteria. As a whole, capacity is more suitable for being used as ending criteria of charge and discharge than the other three parameters. At last, the capacity of a battery is recommended to be ending criteria of charge and discharge. The conclusions will provide references to different capacity Ni/MH batteries for electric vehicles.展开更多

Testing results show that a DGGFC mixture possesses a dense stone-matrix structure, good stab...The design procedure of a dense gap-graded friction course(DGGFC) with coarse aggregate void filling method is presented. Testing results show that a DGGFC mixture possesses a dense stone-matrix structure, good stability and almost the same texture depth as stone matrix asphalt (SMA). It also has a coarse and even surface after paving and has no separation during construction. It is durable and impermeable. It balances and improves the inherent inconsistency of asphalt mixture between the large texture depth for skid resistance and the impermeability for durability. The actual application in the Nanning-Liuzhou Expressway also shows that the performance of the DGGFC is as excellent as that of SMA, while the DGGFC mixture is cheaper than SMA. The DGGFC mixture is good for wearing course of pavement. Further research on DGGFC can be helpful for improving the surface skid resistance, prolonging the life-span period and reducing the construction costs of asphalt pavement.展开更多
Since our Department for Dialysis performs the Peritoneal Equilibration Test (PET) to monitor peritoneal dialysis adequacy, our Laboratory has been asked to collaborate on calculating clearances and transport charac...Since our Department for Dialysis performs the Peritoneal Equilibration Test (PET) to monitor peritoneal dialysis adequacy, our Laboratory has been asked to collaborate on calculating clearances and transport characteristics of patients. This collaboration is ongoing since 2003, despite the Baxter-PD Adequest software having appeared. Our aim is to emphasize the importance of the laboratory in the selection of formulas and specifically in solving the problem of determining creatinine concentration in PETs, and to recommend the cooperation between the laboratory and the dialysis department. Since creatinine determination is encumbered by recommendations for correcting elevated creatinine levels because of the influence of glucose in PETs, we compared results of dialysates determined as serum and as urine. Until now we had 86 patients on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). Method for determining patients' creatinine remains Jaffe kinetic uncompesated although the analyzers and the corresponding reagenses were changed in the laboratory. We have achieved the complete cooperation and confidence in the result, and with the PET test performed strictly according to the protocol, increasingly better results for clearences, Kt/V and transport characteristics. All this helps with treatment planning and analyzing patients' quality of life.展开更多

An iterative computer program was developed to predict the overall effectiveness of a counter-flow air-air loo...A simple theoretical model of a heat pipe heat exchanger (HPHE) based on the ε-NTU method is presented. An iterative computer program was developed to predict the overall effectiveness of a counter-flow air-air loop heat pipe heat exchanger (LHPHE). A thermal resistance network approach for a single thermosyphon was first considered to determine the overall heat transfer coefficients and the NTU's for the evaporator and condenser sections. The model incorporated previously determined evaporating and condensing coefficients. The overall effectiveness of the 6, 4 and 2 row LHPHE was then predicted. The theoretical overall effectiveness was compared with experimental data obtained from a R410a filled LHPHE. The experimental overall effectiveness results compared very well with the simulated values, The results showed that the 6 row arrangement performed better than the 4 or 2 row arrangement in the experiment.展开更多
