An improved density estimation al...In this paper an attempt of employing network resources to solve a complex and time-consuming problem is presented. The global illumination problem is selected as the study objective. An improved density estimation algorithm is first developed, in which the more inherent concurrency is explored. Then its parallel implementation by using a PVM mechanism and the running performance analysis are provided. The analysis results show the expected speed-up obtained and demonstrate that the PVM has good application prospects for parallel computation in a distributed network.展开更多

Demodulation methods of temperature transdu...Through analyzing theoretically the temperature effect of the optical-fiber Raman backscattering,a distributed temperature sensor is designed based on the single-mode fiber. Demodulation methods of temperature transduction are compared,and then the demodulation method using the ratio of the anti-Stokes and the Stokes Raman backscattering intensity is adopted. Both the hardware composition and the software realization of the system are introduced in detail. The experiment shows that the distinguishing ability of the temperature and that of the space are 1℃ and 2m,respectively,and that the system response time is about 180 s with a sensing range of 5km and with a temperature measurement range of 0-100℃.展开更多

A new design metho...A method to calculate the reflectivity of the coated cavity facet was proposed, and the distribution of the optical power near the two coated cavity facets was calculated for GaN-based laser diodes. A new design method for reducing the optical power at the two cavity facets without changing the output power of laser diodes was discussed, which is helpful to optimize the cavity facet coating and raise the threshold current at which catastrophic optical damage occurs.展开更多
