In the infrared spectrum absorbed type gas concentration sensor,voltage signal obtained from the two-channel thermopile infrared detector TPS2534 is very weak.In order to solve this problem,the authors have established the structure of the sensor and designed weak signal detecting circuit of the sensor based on infrared spectrum absorption principle,differential de-noising principle and weak signal detecting principle.The authors have made experiments using CH4 gas.The results show that the circuit can remove noise effectively and detect weak electrical signal obtained from the detector. 展开更多

We proposed a novel relative humidity (RH) sensor based on the air guided photonic crystal fiber (AGPCF) using the direct absorption spectroscopic method in this paper. The wavelength scanning around the water vapor absorption peak around 1368.59nm was realized by injecting the saw-tooth modulated current to a distributed-feedback laser diode. A reference signal was used as a zero absorption baseline and to help reduce the interference from the distributed-feedback laser source and probed region. The humidity level was determined by the normalized voltage difference between the reference signal and sensor signal at the peak of water vapor absorption. We demonstrated that a length of 5-cm AGPCF with a fixed small air gap between the single mode fiber (SMF) and hollow core fiber as an opening achieved a humidity detection resolution of around 0.2%RH over the range 0 to 90%RH which did not require the use of any hygroscopic coating material. 展开更多

An air-silica microstructure optical fiber based on the anti-resonant reflecting optical waveguide (ARROW) principle was used to develop a spectral absorption gas sensor. The ARROW fiber has an air core and an air cladding layer. An ARROW fiber with a length of 725mm was used to construct a sensing system to detect acetylene gas. The gas was injected into the fiber from one end of the fiber. The transmission spectra were collected using an optical spectrum analyzer. The results indicate that the system can detect the gas of different concentrations and has the good system linearity. The response time of the system is about 200 s. 展开更多

A dual-gas sensor system is developed for CO and CO_2 detection using a single broadband light source, pyroelectric detectors and time-division multiplexing(TDM) technique. A stepper motor based rotating system and a single-reflection spherical optical mirror are designed and adopted for realizing and enhancing dual-gas detection. Detailed measurements under static detection mode(without rotation) and dynamic mode(with rotation) are performed to study the performance of the sensor system for the two gas samples. The detection period is 7.9 s in one round of detection by scanning the two detectors. Based on an Allan deviation analysis, the 1σ detection limits under static operation are 3.0 parts per million(ppm) in volume and 2.6 ppm for CO and CO_2, respectively, and those under dynamic operation are 9.4 ppm and 10.8 ppm for CO and CO_2, respectively. The reported sensor has potential applications in various fields requiring CO and CO_2 detection such as in the coal mine. 展开更多

A temperature sensor based on a switchable dual-wavelength fiber Bragg grating (FBG) laser with a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM) is presented and demonstrated experimentally. The repetition rate of Q-switched pulses is -17 kHz. The results demonstrate that the measured temperature has good linearity to the wavelength spacing of the two lasing wavelengths and has a temperature sensitivity of 21 pm/℃ covering a range of-10--22 ℃. The ex- perimental results prove the feasibility of the proposed temperature sensor. 展开更多
