Exploitation of sustainable energy sources requires the use of unique conversion and storage systems,such as solar panels,batteries,fuel cells,and electronic equipment.Thermal load management of these energy conversio...Exploitation of sustainable energy sources requires the use of unique conversion and storage systems,such as solar panels,batteries,fuel cells,and electronic equipment.Thermal load management of these energy conversion and storage systems is one of their challenges and concerns.In this article,the thermal management of these systems using thermoelectric modules is reviewed.The results show that by choosing the right option to remove heat from the hot side of the thermoelectric modules,it will be a suitable local cooling,and the thermoelectric modules increase the power and lifespan of the system by reducing the spot temperature.Thermoelectric modules were effective in reducing panel temperature.They increase the time to reach a temperature above 50℃ in batteries by 3 to 4 times.Also,in their integration with fuel cells,they increase the power density of the fuel cell.展开更多

The introduction of the electron-deficient 1, 3, 4-oxadiazole units into the MEH-PPV backbone also increases the electron affinities of the conjugated segment, which leads to the blue-shift of the maximum absorption wavelength and makes the polymer have a high optical band-gap energy, good electron-transporting stability and high PL quantum yield.展开更多

Metastable 40Ar* atoms are produced in the two metastable states 3p54s [3/2]2 and 3p5 4s′ [1/2]0 in a pulsed DC discharge in a beam, and are subsequently excited to the even-parity autoionizing resonance series 3pSn...Metastable 40Ar* atoms are produced in the two metastable states 3p54s [3/2]2 and 3p5 4s′ [1/2]0 in a pulsed DC discharge in a beam, and are subsequently excited to the even-parity autoionizing resonance series 3pSnp′[3/2]1,2, 3p5 np′ [1/2]1, and 3p5nf′[5/2]3 using single photon excitation with a pulsed dye laser. The excitation spectra of the even-parity autoion- izing resonance series from the metastable 40Ar* are obtained by recording the autoionized Ar+ ions with time-of-flight ion detection in the photon energy range of 32500-35600 cm-1 with an experimental bandwidth of 〈0.1 cm-1. A wealth of autoionizing resonances are newly observed, from which more precise and systematic spectroscopic data of the level energies and quantum defects are derived.展开更多

In view of optimizing the performance of catalysts, extensive efforts have been devoted to designing...The crystal phase, morphology and facet significantly influence the catalytic and photocat- alytic activity of TiO2. In view of optimizing the performance of catalysts, extensive efforts have been devoted to designing new sophisticate TiO2 structures with desired facet exposure, necessitating the understanding of chemical properties of individual surface. In this work, we have examined the photooxidation of methanol on TiO 2 (011)- ( 2 × 1 ) and TiO 2 (110) - (1 ×1) by two-photon photoemission spectroscopy (2PPE). An excited state at 2.5 eV above the Fermi level (EF) on methanol covered (011) and (110) interface has been detected. The excited state is an indicator of reduction of TiO2 interface. Irradiation dependence of the excited resonance signal during the photochemistry of methanol on TiO2(011)-(2×1) and TiO2(110)-(1× 1) is ascribed to the interface reduction by producing surface hydroxyls. The reaction rate of photooxidation of methanol on TiO2(110)-(1× 1) is about 11.4 times faster than that on TiO2(011)-(2×1), which is tentatively explained by the difference in the surface atomic configuration. This work not only provides a detailed characterization of the electronic structure of methanol/TiO2 interface by 2PPE, but also shows the importance of the surface structure in the photoreactivity on TiO2.展开更多

This paper reports a comparative study of non-resonant and resonant photoionization of D2 induced by VUV circularly polarized synchrotron radiation at SOLEIL at the level of the molecular frame photoelectron angular distributions (MFPADs). We use the vector correlation method which combines imaging and time-of-flight resolved electron-ion coincidence techniques, and a generalized formalism for the expression of the Ⅰ(χ, θe, Фe) MFPADs, where χ is the orientation of the molecular axis with respect to the light quantization axis and (θe, Фe) the electron emission direction in the molecular frame. Selected MFPADs for a molecule aligned parallel or perpendicular to linearly polarized light, or perpendicular to the propagation axis of circularly polarized light, are presented for dissociative photoionization (DPI) of D2 at two photon excitation energies, hv=19 eV, where direct PI is the only channel opened, and hv=32.5 eV, i.e. in the region involving resonant excitation of Q1 and Q2 doubly excited state series. We discuss in particular the properties of the circular dichroism characterizing photoemission in the molecular frame for direct and resonant PI. In the latter case, a remarkable behavior is observed which may be attributed to the interference occurring between undistinguishable autoionization decay channels.展开更多

Floating photovoltaic systems installed in water bodies such as natural lakes or dams reservoirs, have attracted increased worldwide attention since 2011 and have already been deployed in several countries, including ...Floating photovoltaic systems installed in water bodies such as natural lakes or dams reservoirs, have attracted increased worldwide attention since 2011 and have already been deployed in several countries, including Japan, South Korea and USA. In Brazil, pilot-projects were announced in the reservoirs of hydroelectric power plants of Balbina (State of Amazonas) and Sobradinho (State of Bahia). Several advantages, not necessarily valid in Brazil, are mentioned for deploying this kind of technology, such as an increase in energy generation, reduction of water losses through evaporation, low environmental impact, no occupation of land etc. In this article, several of these allegations are analyzed preliminarily under the Brazilian point of view, and relevant considerations are presented. It is concluded that the technical and economic advantages of floating photovoltaic systems are not yet clear in Brazil and that pilot projects, such as those under way, should be used to clarify several important aspects related to them.展开更多

The result indicates that there are two defect centers in SiO2 films. Since only monochrome(ZnS∶Mn) electroluminescence(EL) displays of suitable size and speed are available, lack of colors has to be replaced by grayscale in the first place. There are two basic driving methods to achieve grayscale in thin-film EL displays: pulse amplitude modulation(PAM) method and pulse width modulation(PWM) method. But there are serious disadvantages of the two traditional methods. For the former method, the high voltage PAM ICs are too expensive to produce the grayscale EL display in bulks and the driver integrated circuit(IC) is complex. Though the PWM method has good grayscale display quality, the hardware implementation is too complex. A new driving method with which the width and the amplitude of the pulse can be modulated and simultaneously the challenge can be solved efficaciously is presented.展开更多

However, various problems have an ongoing discussion. When the production of electricity by RESs exceeds the power consumption, it is possible to cause a steep variation of point voltage and a deviation from a proper voltage range in a distribution system to which RESs are interconnected. When EVs and PHEVs have spread to the distribution system, a new peak power-demand and a steep voltage drop might occur in the midnight charging time zone in case the electricity charges are low. in this paper, the authors analyze the effects on the distribution system under widespread PVs, EVs, and PHEVs. This leads to the lower system inertia and the higher generator reactance, and hence the generator transient stability may negatively be affected. In particular, the impact on the transient stability may become more serious when the considerable amounts of PV systems are disconnected simultaneously during voltage sag. In this work, the generator transient stability in the power system with significant PV penetration is assessed by a numerical simulation. In order to assess the impact from various angles, simulation parameters such as levels of PV penetration, variety of power sources (inverter or rotational machine), and existence of LVRT capability are considered. When the production of electricity by RESs exceeds the power consumption, it is possible to cause a steep variation of point voltage and a deviation from a proper voltage range in a distribution system to which RESs are interconnected. When EVs and PHEVs have spread to the distribution system, a new peak power-demand and a steep voltage drop might occur in the midnight charging time zone in case the electricity charges are low. in this paper, the authors analyze the effects on the distribution system under widespread PVs, EVs, and PHEVs. In addition, the authors propose an improvement plan and analyze about the influence and contribution.
文摘As photovoltaic (PV) capacity in power system increases, the capacity of synchronous generator needs to be reduced relatively. This leads to the lower system inertia and the higher generator reactance, and hence the generator transient stability may negatively be affected. In particular, the impact on the transient stability may become more serious when the considerable amounts of PV systems are disconnected simultaneously during voltage sag. In this work, the generator transient stability in the power system with significant PV penetration is assessed by a numerical simulation. In order to assess the impact from various angles, simulation parameters such as levels of PV penetration, variety of power sources (inverter or rotational machine), and existence of LVRT capability are considered. The simulation is performed by using PSCAD/EMTDC software.
