Low dark count rates,neg...In this letter we present the results regarding the electrical and optical characterization of Geiger mode silicon avalanche photodiodes(GMAP) fabricated by silicon standard planar technology. Low dark count rates,negligible afterpulsing effects,good timing resolution and high quantum detection efficiency in all the visible range have been measured. The very good electro-optical performances of our photodiodes make them attractive for the fabrication of arrays with a large number of GMAP to be used both in the commercial and the scientific fields,as telecommunications and nuclear medical imaging.展开更多

This rectangular reactor consisted of 13 regularly distributed silica glass tubes coating with TiO2 thin film photo-c...A novel multi-tube photoreactor with 0.0188m3 valid reaction volume was constructed in pilot-scale. This rectangular reactor consisted of 13 regularly distributed silica glass tubes coating with TiO2 thin film photo-catalyst. Total active area of TiO2 thin film is 0.3916m2. The ratio of surface area to volume achieves 20.8m-1. Photocatalytic experiment of phenol red demonstrates that the apparent reaction rate constant (k) is 0.074 65 h-1 and 0.16502h-1 for reaction system with and without micro-bubbles mixing. The corresponding apparent quantum efficiency (a) is 8.1771 X 10-7g.J-1 and 4.9036 x 10-7g-J-1, respectively. COD value of reactant could decrease to 17mg.L-1 and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) only shows two absorption peaks in 24 h pho-tocatalytic process time, so this photoreactor has good photomineralization effect. Experimental results reveal that photocatalytic destruction of organics is possible by using the multi-tube photoreactor.展开更多

Due to this fact, the aim of this study was to monitor the ionizing radiation and rain intensity using portable devic...Radiation affects the environment and local human activity in any location of the earth's surface. Due to this fact, the aim of this study was to monitor the ionizing radiation and rain intensity using portable devices. During May 23 to October 2, 2015, it was made measures the intensity of gamma radiation from 30 keV to 10.0 MeV at a height of 25 meters in Sao Jos6 dos Campos city, SP, Brazil. It was used a crystal of sodium iodide scintillator 3 - 3 inches coupled to a photomultiplier and associated electronic. The measurements were made continually with minute's interval throughout the period and it was monitored rain intensity every minute at the same height of the tower. In this job, it was possible to correlate rain-radiation and it was observed which gamma radiation has a directly proportional relationship with rain and visible frequency of 1 day.展开更多

We obtain a family of exact solutions for the nonlinear Schrfidinger equation, which describes the propagation of optical pulses in optical fibers, and investigate the dynamical features of solitons by analyzing the exact analytical solutions in different physical situations. The results show that under the appropriate condition, not only the group velocity dispersion and the nonlinearity, but also the loss/gain can be used to manipulate the light pulse.展开更多

Undoped green electroluminescent tandem organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs) with...Buffer-modified C_(60)/pentacene as charge generation layer(CGL) is investigated to achieve effective performance of charge generation. Undoped green electroluminescent tandem organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs) with multiple identical emissive units and using buffer-modified C_(60)/pentacene organic semiconductor heterojunction(OHJ) as CGL are demonstrated to exhibit better current density and brightness, compared with conventional single-unit devices. The current density and brightness both can be significantly improved with increasing the thickness of Al. However, excessive thickness of Al seriously decreases the transmittance of films and damages the interface. As a result, the maximum current efficiency of 1.43 cd·A^(-1) at 30 mA ·cm^(-2) can be achieved for tandem OLEDs with optimal thickness of Al. These results clearly demonstrate that Cs_2CO_3/Al is an effective buffer for C_(60)/pentacene-based tandem OLEDs.展开更多
