单晶光纤(SCF)是一种将体块晶体与玻璃光纤的优势相结合的新型一维化晶体材料,其具有优异的物理化学以及热管理性能,在激光、闪烁、传感等方面具有巨大的应用潜力。目前单晶光纤的主要生长方法有激光加热基座(LHPG)法和微下拉(μ-PD)法... 单晶光纤(SCF)是一种将体块晶体与玻璃光纤的优势相结合的新型一维化晶体材料,其具有优异的物理化学以及热管理性能,在激光、闪烁、传感等方面具有巨大的应用潜力。目前单晶光纤的主要生长方法有激光加热基座(LHPG)法和微下拉(μ-PD)法,其中LHPG法生长过程中不需要使用坩埚,可制备更小直径的单晶光纤,以充分发挥光纤的形态优势。研制了国内具有自主知识产权的LHPG单晶光纤炉,并生长了Al_(2)O_(3)、YAG、LuAG等单晶光纤,其中YAG单晶光纤直径可达200μm,长度为710 mm,长径比大于3500:1。同时对单晶光纤的直径均匀性、结晶质量等性能进行了研究,结果表明准一维化的单晶光纤仍具有良好的物化性能。 展开更多

Based on the membrane-based absorption experiment of CO2 into water, shell-side flow distribution and mass transfer in a randomly packed hollow fiber module have been analyzed using subchannel model and unsteady penetration mass transfer theory. The cross section of module is subdivided into many small cells which contains only one hollow-fiber. The cross sectional area distribution of these cells is presented by the normal probability density distribution function. It has been obtained that there was a most serious non-ideal flow in shell side at moderate mean packing density, and the large amount of fluid flowed and transferred mass through a small number of large voids. Thus mass transfer process is dominated by the fluid through the larger void area. The mass transfer process in each cell is described by the unsteady penetration theory. The overall mass transfer coefficient equals to the probability addition of the mean mass transfer coefficient in each cell. The comparisons of the values calculated by the model established with the empirical correlations and the experimental data of this work have been done.The predicted overall mass transfer coefficients are in good agreement with experimental data. 展开更多

But the mea-(surement) of rotatory optics element is difficult for the rotatory optical fiber. A simple principle and method for measuring rotatory optics element are put forward in this paper. Firstly by using electromagnetic theory it was demonstrated that the rotatory optics element has a simple linear relation with the rotatory angle, and then the rotatory optics element has a simple linear relation with the magnetic field strength (or bias current in the helix coil) . Secondly a measurement system for the rotatory optics element in the rotatory optical fiber was designed. Using the measurement system the rotatory element can be obtained by measuring the bias current simply. 展开更多

ZTE's Perspective on Applying OFDM-PON in Next Converged Optical and Wireless Networks 被引量:1

Driven by ZTE and other telecom vendors and operators in order to meet the ever increasing bandwidth demand from fixed optical network users and mobile backhaul/fronthaul services, the latest next generation passive optical network (NG- PON2) is being standardized by Full Service Access Network (FSAN) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T) which consists of two separated sub-systems, hybrid time- and wavelength-division multiplexing PON (TWDM-PON) and point-to-point wavelength- division multiplex (PtP WDM). The TWDM-PON will be used for traditional residential, business and wireless backhaul services which are not sensitive to time delay and delay variation, whereas the PtP WDM is mainly used for emerging wireless fronthaul service which is very sensitive to the time delay and time delay variation. However, as a main international standards' contributor, ZTE thinks for those operators who offer multiple-level of services to both residential, business and mobile backhaul/fronthaul users, this obviously raises significant economic and power concerns by demanding to deploy two separated systems. Therefore, in this paper, for the first time, ZTE proposes a new converged optical and wireless integrated network architecture and topology by applying orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) PON technology, which is able to simultaneously support residential, business and mobile backhaul/fronthaul services in terms of meeting the requirements of both time delay sensitive and non-sensitive services, and also address the economic and power concerns compared with conventional technologies. This architecture is further investigated and analyzed in depth on functional block, Quality-of-service (QoS), synchronization and deployment considerations. Also ZTE reports in this paper the first 40Gbps OFDM- PON prototype in which eight wavelengths each with 5Gbps Ethernet data via 10G-PON encapsulation method (X-GEM) and 10G-PON transmission convergence (X-GTC) framing are demonstrated. 展开更多

Previous works have shown that the suction probe cannot be used to accurately measure the upward and downward particle fluxes independently. A new method using a single optical probe to measure the local solid flux is presented. The measurement of upward, downward and net solid fluxes was carried out in a cold model circulating fluidized bed (CFB) unit. The result shows that the profile of the net solid flux is in good agreement with the previous experimental data measured with a suction probe. The comparison between the average solid flux determined with the optical measuring system and the external solid flux was made, and the maximum deviationturned out to be 22%, with the average error being about 6.9%. These confirm that the optical fiber system can be successfully used to measure the upward, downward and net solid fluxes simultaneously by correctly processing the sampling signals obtained from the optical measuring system. 展开更多

Rapid and cost effective quantification of lignocellulosic components (cellulose, hemicelluloses and lignin) of agricultural biomass (barley, canola, oat and wheat) is essential to determine the effect of various pre-treatments (such as steam explosion) on biomass used as feedstock for the biofuel industry. Fourier Transformed Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was considered as an option to achieve this objective. Regression equations having R2 values of 0.89, 0.99 and 0.98 were developed to predict the cellulose, hemicelluloses and lignin compounds of biomass, respectively. The average absolute difference in predicted and measured cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin in agricultural biomass was 7.5%, 2.5%, and 3.8%, respectively. 展开更多

Based on the effective-mass approximation and variational approach, excitonic optical properties are investigated theoretically in strained wurtzite (WZ) ZnO/MgxZn1-xO cylindrical quantum dots (QDs) for four different Mg compositions: x = 0.08, 0.14, 0.25, and 0.33, with considering a three-dimensional carrier confinement in QDs and a strong built-in electric field effect due to the piezoelectricity and spontaneous polarization. The ground-state exciton binding energy, the interband emission wavelength, and the radiative lifetime as functions of the QD structural parameters (height and radius) are calculated in detail The computations are performed in the case of finite band offset. Numerical results elucidate that Mg composition has of ZnO/MgxZn1-x 0 QDs. The ground-state exciton a significant influence on the exciton states and optical properties binding energy increases with increasing Mg composition and the increment tendency is more prominent for small height QDs. As Mg composition increases, the interband emission wavelength has a blue-shift if the dot height L 〈 3.5 nm, but the interband emission wavelength has a red-shift when L 〉 3.5 nm. Furthermore, the radiative lifetime increases rapidly with increasing Mg composition if the dot height L 〉 3 nm and the increment tendency is more prominent for large height QDs. This paper presents an innovative and low-cost approach for nondestructive fruit quality analysis. The specialized optical fiber sensor developed and presented in this paper used a monochromatic wavelength, rather than a broad spectrum, to measure the intact carambola (star fruit) intrinsic quality, namely pH and firmness. The main objective of this research was to investigate the two optical fiber sensors used in this work, namely, the optical fiber red system (OF-RS) that operated with the peak sensitivity at 635 nm and the optical fiber near the infrared spectroscopy system (OF-NIRS) that operated with the peak sensitivity at 880nm. Both systems showed good accuracy in the pH and firmness measurement of the intact carambola with the correlation coefficient R over 0.75, and the measurement results were comparable with those of the commercial spectrometer. The best measurement results were obtained using OF-RS (pH: R = 0.876; the root mean square error (RMSE) = 0.211 pH; firmness: R = 0.872; RMSE = 0.909 kgf). 展开更多

A deep understanding of the spectral gain characteristics of optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) and optical parametric amplifiers (OPAs) is important for a highly efficient optical parametric conversion. We numerically calculated the spectral gain characteristics of a quasi-phase-matching (QPM) parametric conversion process using the periodically poled 6% (mol/mol) MgO doped LiNbO3 (PPMgLN) as the nonlinear crystal. In the simulation we utilized the approach of a transformative matrix of the periodically poled nonlinear medium, which results from the small-signal approximation of three-wave mixed nonlinear equations. Numerical simulation results show that: (1) The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the spectral gain of the parametric process becomes wider with the increase of parametric wavelength and reaches the maximum at degeneration; (2) The gain coefficient decreases gradually with the increase of parametric wavelength; (3) The spectral gain bandwidth decreases correspondingly with the increase of the nonlinear material length; (4) There exists an optimal parametric wavelength band, which is most suitable for the high gain parametric conversion when pumped by a laser source with a wide wavelength band, such as the high power fiber laser. 展开更多
