Compared with the transmission spectra of conventional circular nanotube arrays, two photonic band gaps are emerged in the transmission spectra offing-shaped nanotube arrays, the two band gaps and transmission spectra are adjusted by the length, inner radius, intertube spacing and the dielectric constants of the core and embedding medium, and magnitude modification, redshift and blueshift of the resonance modes are observed. A metallic ring-shaped nanotube arrays for subwavelength band-stop filter in the range of visible light can be achieved. To understand its physical origin, field-interference mechanism was suggested by the field distributions. The proposed nanostructures and results may have great potential applications in subwavelength near-field optics.展开更多

The multi-tap characteristics of the filter are realized by slici...A tunable microwave photonic bandpass filter with high mainlobe-to-sidelobe ratio (MSR) based on a phase modulator and a dispersive device is proposed. The multi-tap characteristics of the filter are realized by slicing a broadband source using a Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) which results in a high MSR of 25 dB. The tunability of the filter is realized by an optical variable delay line (OVDL) in one arm of the MZI, which changes the wavelength spacing of the sliced broadband source and results in a tunable free spectrum range (FSR) of the filter. The central frequency of the bandpass filter is tunable from 10.7 GHz to 27 GHz by changing the wavelength spacing from 0.145 nm to 0.054 nm.展开更多

The defect modes spectra with varying incident angles are discussed in detail by 4×4 matrix method. The results show that the defect modes are mainly decided by the applied voltage when the incident angle is smaller than 8°. As the incident angle further increases, the band gap and the defect modes shift toward the shorter wavelength side, and the changes of the two modes are different, In the lower voltage range, the defect modes can be tuned not only by the applied voltage but also by the incident angle. In the higher voltage range, the defect modes can be further tuned by varying incident angle and the different modes can be separated from each other by a bip incident anple.展开更多
