The results show that the information transmission can be enhanced when a certain amount of noise is presented, i.e., aperiodic stochastic resonance (ASR). Then, the influence of signal amplitude and the ST threshold on ASR is examined, the applicability of the ST in reducing the noise level of random signal transmission and improving the quality of output signal via ASR effect is illustrated. The development of communication robots, such as cleaning and a care-giver robot, has been progressing. Care-giver robots provide daily assistance, including contacting emergency services. This study is part of the "study on planning techniques of living space in harmony with robots", and focused on the elderly. Minimum distance was the subjects felt "I do not want any more approached". Subjects were 21 elderly persons (eight males and thirteen females), aged 66-86 years. The experimental room was an assembly room in a public accommodation (14 m× 6.5 m). The small mobile robot used in this experiment was external form dimensions of 120 mm (W)× 130 mm (D)× 70 mm (H), In this experiment, considering the personal space as the small mobile robot is watching robot without support function for person. The robot moved toward standing or sitting subjects at constant velocities from a distance 5 m apart. Research factors are 5 angles (0°, 45°, 90°, 135° and 180°) and 2 speeds (0.08 m/s and 0.24 m/s).展开更多
Taking Guangzhou as a case,this paper adopted a questionnaire survey to gather first-hand data and analyzed the characteristics and influencing factors of private car travel in Chinese cities.As the research indicated...Taking Guangzhou as a case,this paper adopted a questionnaire survey to gather first-hand data and analyzed the characteristics and influencing factors of private car travel in Chinese cities.As the research indicated,trip purposes of private car travel are mainly commute and business affairs with a more flexible trip in the urban core area.And trip intensities are concentrated in a certain extent,with trip frequency being lower in the urban core area than the peripheral area.In addition,the trip time has two significant peaks occurring in the morning and afternoon,and one trough in the midday.And trip spatial distribution is mainly within commute with both residence and employment in urban area and inward commute with residence in suburban area while employment in urban area.Both kinds of commutes direct to the urban area.The study also shows that the characteristics of private car travel are principally influenced by two aspects:travelers' attributes and urban characteristics.The main travelers' social and economic attributes influenced it include the gender,education attainment,age,driving experience and per capita monthly household income.The urban characteristics influenced it mainly cover the land use pattern,public traffic facilities and spatial attributes of residential environment.展开更多
Road network is a critical component of public infrastructure,and the supporting system of social and economic development.Based on a modified kernel density estimate(KDE)algorithm,this study evaluated the road servic...Road network is a critical component of public infrastructure,and the supporting system of social and economic development.Based on a modified kernel density estimate(KDE)algorithm,this study evaluated the road service capacity provided by a road network composed of multi-level roads(i.e.national,provincial,county and rural roads),by taking account of the differences of effect extent and intensity for roads of different levels.Summarized at town scale,the population burden and the annual rural economic income of unit road service capacity were used as the surrogates of social and economic demands for road service.This method was applied to the road network of the Three Parallel River Region,the northwestern Yunnan Province,China to evaluate the development of road network in this region.In results,the total road length of this region in 2005 was 3.70×104km,and the length ratio between national,provincial,county and rural roads was 1∶2∶8∶47.From 1989 to 2005,the regional road service capacity increased by 13.1%,of which the contributions from the national,provincial,county and rural roads were 11.1%,19.4%,22.6%,and 67.8%,respectively,revealing the effect of′All Village Accessible′policy of road development in the mountainous regions in the last decade.The spatial patterns of population burden and economic requirement of unit road service suggested that the areas farther away from the national and provincial roads have higher road development priority(RDP).Based on the modified KDE model and the framework of RDP evaluation,this study provided a useful approach for developing an optimal plan of road development at regional scale.展开更多

A transport infrastructure is not only a trip provision system but a public facility that generates value for companies and for the society through expanding markets or developing cities, creating another perspective ...A transport infrastructure is not only a trip provision system but a public facility that generates value for companies and for the society through expanding markets or developing cities, creating another perspective for new investments, as well as its own financing. According to this perspective, the financial earnings resulting from the implementation of transport infrastructure can be captured for its own investment. Given the restrictions of society indebtedness, due to social inequalities, scarcity of resources and insufficient fare collection, with the current financial model for public transport infrastructures, the value capture configures as a strategy to be explored to obtain resources. This paper presents the concept of value capture and its connection and relevance with transport infrastructure financing strategies. Applied to the evaluation of the impacts on the surrounding regions of one of the most significant Brazilian transport projects, the improvement and expansion of Belo Horizonte's metro, the provided value capture outcomes open more realistic perspectives for greater engagement of the Public Sector in such projects.展开更多

In this study, we have developed a mechanism for collecting, maintaining, and analyzing ground data for repair and replacement works. Our BMS (building maintenance system) uses the recorded repair and replacement work histories and calculates the life cycle costs of the related items. Further, it enables the performance of repair and replacement tasks through an integrated approach aimed at preventive maintenance. In this manner, the BMS is expected to maximize the efficiency of the formulation of prevention and maintenance work plans, monitoring of work histories, predictions of future tasks from the analyses of repair and replacement histories, and performance of LCC (life cycle cost) calculations. Reliable maintenance of national properties can thus be achieved by using the BMS, which promotes reasonable and efficient repair and replacement activities.展开更多

The mechanism of overlay share mesh based on area of interest (AOI) was discussed in detail in this paper. A large number of simulation experiments were done and the performance of mesh infrastructure was studied. Due to the high cost and lengthy duration of mega-construction projects in recent years, Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) contracts are getting popular in delivering constructed projects in the public sector. With BOT, the public owners are able to focus on the effectiveness of fair resource allocation as well as bring the efficiency of private enterprise into governmental operations. This paper uses Taiwan High Speed Rail project to exemplify the BOT method in executing the constructed projects in the chain of real estate management processes. The paper explains the reasons for building HSR and adopting BOT approach. The detail of the HSR project and the feasibility analysis of the project will be presented in this paper. During this process, color of grape skin is the most obvious change. The molecular mechanism for the ripening of grape(a non-climacteric fruit, which ripens without ethylene and respiration bursts) is still unclear. Although numerous studies have been done on the changes in the contents of metabolites during grape ripening, the differentially expressed genes at veraison and maturity stages have not been systematically analyzed. In this study, 1 524 genes that are significantly differentially expressed in grape(Pinot Noir) skin at veraison and maturity stages were identified, and a co-expression network of these genes was built. Some of the eight co-expression modules we identified may be closely related to the synthesis or metabolism of anthocyanins, sugar acids, and other flavor substances. The transcription factor families WRKY, b ZIP, HSF and WOX may play an important role in the regulation of anthocyanin synthesis or metabolism. The results provide a foundation for further study of the molecular mechanism of grape ripening.展开更多

The TDM control strategy is established under the circumstance of vehicle-infrastructure integration(VII). The algorithm is given to forecast the segmented BRT travel time. According to the real time traffic information,a comprehensive model is given to estimate the vehicles' lane-changing time from/to the BRTlane to/from its neighbor lane and determine the timing sequence for vehicles collaboration. Finally,the experiment demonstrates that the predicted value of the travel time and lane-changing time is much close to the true value. The control strategy of the vehicles collaboration could promise the non-BRT vehicles to share BRT-lane without disturbing BRT's priority.展开更多

Albania in the l...Over the last decade or so, private sector's financing through public-private partnerships (PPPs) has become increasingly popular as a way of procuring and maintaining public-sector infrastructure. Albania in the last few years had improved the legal frame so as to give the local authorities the right to initiate PPP projects. The local authorities have not built the expertise for such projects yet. The aim of this paper is to help the local authorities in Albania to support the building of the expertise for such projects. A financial model is used to make the required calculations for the bid at various phases of the project, although this paper is not intended to cover financial modeling in depth, the key inputs and outputs for the financial model are reviewed, including the financing costs. The model has to work within the constraints of: (I) the public authority's requirements for the PPP contract term and service fee profile; and (2) lenders' requirements for the term and payment profile of their debt.展开更多

文摘The ripening process of grape is an important stage during grape growth and development. During this process, color of grape skin is the most obvious change. The molecular mechanism for the ripening of grape(a non-climacteric fruit, which ripens without ethylene and respiration bursts) is still unclear. Although numerous studies have been done on the changes in the contents of metabolites during grape ripening, the differentially expressed genes at veraison and maturity stages have not been systematically analyzed. In this study, 1 524 genes that are significantly differentially expressed in grape(Pinot Noir) skin at veraison and maturity stages were identified, and a co-expression network of these genes was built. Some of the eight co-expression modules we identified may be closely related to the synthesis or metabolism of anthocyanins, sugar acids, and other flavor substances. The transcription factor families WRKY, b ZIP, HSF and WOX may play an important role in the regulation of anthocyanin synthesis or metabolism. The results provide a foundation for further study of the molecular mechanism of grape ripening.

文摘In order to increase the availability of the part-time idle bus rapid transit lane(BRT-lane),a time division multiplexing(TDM) method to share BRT-lane with the vehicles besides BRT buses is proposed based on vehicle-road collaboration. The TDM control strategy is established under the circumstance of vehicle-infrastructure integration(VII). The algorithm is given to forecast the segmented BRT travel time. According to the real time traffic information,a comprehensive model is given to estimate the vehicles' lane-changing time from/to the BRTlane to/from its neighbor lane and determine the timing sequence for vehicles collaboration. Finally,the experiment demonstrates that the predicted value of the travel time and lane-changing time is much close to the true value. The control strategy of the vehicles collaboration could promise the non-BRT vehicles to share BRT-lane without disturbing BRT's priority.
文摘Over the last decade or so, private sector's financing through public-private partnerships (PPPs) has become increasingly popular as a way of procuring and maintaining public-sector infrastructure. Albania in the last few years had improved the legal frame so as to give the local authorities the right to initiate PPP projects. The local authorities have not built the expertise for such projects yet. The aim of this paper is to help the local authorities in Albania to support the building of the expertise for such projects. A financial model is used to make the required calculations for the bid at various phases of the project, although this paper is not intended to cover financial modeling in depth, the key inputs and outputs for the financial model are reviewed, including the financing costs. The model has to work within the constraints of: (I) the public authority's requirements for the PPP contract term and service fee profile; and (2) lenders' requirements for the term and payment profile of their debt.
