In this study, otolith shape of spottedtail goby Synechogobius ommaturus is used to identify stocks in different spawning locations in the Yellow Sea. The main objectives of this study are to explore the potential existence of local stocks of spottedtail goby in the Yellow Sea by analysis of otolith shape, and to investigate ambient impacts on otolith shape. Spottedtail goby was sampled in five locations in the Yellow Sea in 2007 and 2008. Otoliths are described using variables correlated to size (otolith area, perimeter, length, width, and weight) and shape (rectangularity, circularity, and 20 Fourier harmonics). Only standardized otolith variables are used so that the effect of otolith size on the shape variables could be eliminated. There is no significant difference among variables of sex, year, and side (left and right). However, the otolith shapes of the spring stocks and the autumn stocks differ significantly. Otolith shape differences are greater among locations than between years. Correct classification rate of spottedtail goby with the otolith shape at different sampling locations range from 29.7%–77.4%.展开更多

Effects of several structural features of crystal cells of SWCNTs, i.e., the size, chirality and strain, on their mechanical properties are analyzed systematically. The simulations indicate that Armchair SWCNTs (8, 8)-(22, 22) and Zigzag SWCNTs (9,0)- (29,0) can be stretched by 35%-38% and 20%-27% without sign of plasticity, respectively. The Young's modulus of SWCNTs under tension ranges from 960 GPa to 750 GPa as their radii increase. The Young's modulus of zigzag SWCNTs is higher than that of armchair SWCNTs. Additionally, three SWCNTs (9,9), (12,6) and (16,0) are investigated to obtain their Poisson's ratio under tensile and compressive loading. The results show that the Poisson's ratio of nanotubes decreases generally as the strain increases. Under the same tensile strain, the Poisson's ratio decreases as the chiral angles of SWCNTs decrease, while their Polsson's ratios increase under the same compressive strain.展开更多

The performance was studied by the analysis of the beam deflection and strains in its chords and webs. According to the test results, several assumptions were made to deduce the bearing capacity calculation method based on the force balance of the whole section. An optimal dimension relationship for the truss beam chords was proposed and verified by finite element analysis. Results show that the LACFST spatial truss beam failed after excessive deflection. The strain distribution agreed with Bernoulli-Euler theoretical prediction. The truss beam flexural bearing capacity calculation results matched test evidence with only a 3% difference between the two. Finite element analyses with different chord dimensions show that the ultimate bearing capacity increases as the chord dimensions increase when the chords have a diameter smaller than optimal one; otherwise, it remains almost unchanged as the chord dimensions increase.展开更多

Based on existing literature and the unique characteristics of telecommunication industry, we build a comprehensive model to depict the level of "internet-and-digitization" development by five key dimensions: market size, informational investment, technological innovation, internet application, and internet penetration. We propose that this five-dimensional model can capture the key components of "internet-and-digitization" development in this digital era. By using Beijing's telecommunication data, we empirically test our conceptual model and explore the current development level of telecommunication industry's "internet-and-digitization" progress. Results show that Beijing's telecommunication industry has great potential in expanding online market size as well as activating technological innovation. We also suggest that bigger telecommunication firms should pay more attention to "internet-and-digitization" development, especially on internet application and penetration dimensions. Finally, theoretical contributions, managerial implications and future research directions are also discussed.展开更多

There exists a critical dimension, beyond which the stars are always stable with any central energy density; below which there exists a maximal mass configuration for a certain central energy density and when the central energy density continues to increase, the configuration becomes unstable. We find that the critical dimension depends on the parameter a, it runs from d = 11.1429 to 10.1291 as a varies from a = 0 to 1. The lowest integer dimension for a dynamically stable self-gravitating configuration should be d = 12 for any a E [0, 1] rather than d = 11, the latter is the case of self-gravitating radiation configurations in AdS space.展开更多

Results show that the oscillations were interannual and interdecadal on the timescales of 2-8 and 8-12 years, respectively. It is also shown that the number of TCs formed in the western North Pacific basin (WNP) and of those traversing the TH islands varied intraseasonally. These results also held for typhoons traversing the TH islands, although the oscillations were less apparent. This study identified interrelationships between the frequency of TCs making landfall on the TH islands and the East Asia summer monsoon (EASM), the South Asia summer monsoon (SASM), and the South China Sea summer monsoon (SCSSM). The SCSSM significantly influenced the number of TCs traversing Hainan Island, but had little influence on the number of TCs traversing Taiwan Island. By contrast, the SASM influenced the numbers of TCs traversing both of the TH islands, shown by correlation coefficients of 0.41 for Taiwan Island and -0.25 for Hainan Island. In addition, the frequency of TC landfall on Taiwan Island increased during years of enhanced EASM, as indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.4.展开更多

We propose a new toppling rule -- when there is an unstable site toppling, the energy of the site is redistributed to its nearest neighbors randomly not averagely. The simulation results indicate that the model displays self-organized criticality when the system is conservative, and the avalanche size probability distribution of the system obeys finite size scaling. When the system is nonconservative, the model does not display scaling behavior. Simulation results of our model with different nearest neighbors q is also compared, which indicates that the spatial topology does not alter the critical behavior of the system.展开更多

Methods: After the hip joint replacement, when the fenmr and prosthesis are considered as concentric cylinders with perfectly banded interface, a relatively perfect theoretical model of simulating the interracial stress transfer is established. Results: The maximum interfaeial shear stress oeeured at Z=O. At the cross-section of the femoral neck, interfacial shear stress decreased exponentially with the increases of the Z. Shear stress became very small at Z〉0. 1 m, which meant that the shear stress at the far end of the femoral hip prosthesis was very small. In order to avoid the stress concentration and femoral hip prosthesis sinking, interracial stress must remain constant and balanced with the pressure load at Z=O. The radius of the femoral hip prosthesis changed with interfacial shear stress. The maximum value of the radius occured at Z=O, then it decreased at m. Specially, a=18.2 mm at Z=10 ram, a=5.36 mm at Z=98 ram, these are ideal radius. Conclusion: A theoretical model of simulating the interfacial stress is established when the femur and prosthesis are considered as concentric cylinders. The distributions of the interfacial shear and radial stresses with the axial positions are obtained. A theoretical reference for the design of the prosthesis is provided.展开更多

Methods: The method was validated for specificity, linearity, accuracy, precision, robustness. A triple quadrupole mass detector was employed, equipped with an ESI (electrospray ionization) source operated in the negative ion mode. The chromatographic system consisted of a Symmetry C 18 column (150 mm × 4.6 mm, id; particle size 5 μm) and methanol-acetonitrile-ammonium acetate (pH 7.6; 10 mM) (40:40:20, v/v/v) as the mobile phase. The chromatographic conditions were 25 uL injection volume, flow rate of 0.4 mL/min and column temperature set at 35℃. Key tindings: The method requires a minimum sample amount and presents very low LOD (limits of detection) for CA (0.29 ng/mL), DCA (0.59 ng/mL), CDCA (0.13 ng/mL) and LCA (0.44 ng/mL) in comparison to LC methods coupled to different detectors like UV (ultraviolet), fluorescence and refractive index. Conclusions: The developed and validated LC-MS/MS method for the determination of UDCA and related substances in raw material and in a suspension was advantageous since it required a minimum sample amount.
