Two experiments were carr...The objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of the nutritional supplement VIUSID vet on the mortality and the productivity behaviour of fattening pigs in a low-input farming system. Two experiments were carried out at a pig farm in the municipality of Jatibonico, Sancti Spiritus province, Cuba. The farm has a low level of specialization, pigs are fed using local resources such as sugarcane （Saccharum officinarum） juice and locally produced concentrated feed. In both studies, the treatment consisted in administering together with the feed 2.0 g of VIUSID vet per Kg of feed. Results showed that in low-input rearing conditions, supplying VIUSID vet significantly reduced deaths （17.65%） in the pigs treated, favoured leukocyte and lymphocyte counts, and significantly improved weight gain （16.33%） and feed efficiency （14.41%）.展开更多

The juxtaposition of these two Sabbaths in the text suggests a connection between the Sabbath and ecology, since rest and nourishment are required both the land and its inhabitants （i.e., humans and beasts）. This article exegetically analyzes Exod 23：10-12 and suggests some possible ecological implications. Accordingly, it is argued that while the biblical sabbatical year seems to have required a rest for the whole land--a practice which may seem impossible today--in modern times heavily cultivated portions of land could be allowed to lie fallow. Instead of overusing particular portions of land with the aid of agro-chemicals, farming systems such as land rotation could fruitfully be practiced. Such a practice may not only allow cultivable lands regain fertility, it may also contribute towards the sustenance of the wild including endangered species. The emotional states of animals such as fear were analysed with the behavioural tests （open field, tonic immobility） and stress-induced hyperthermia （SIH）. These tests were the criterion for assigning animals to two experimental groups： group I, 10 males and 20 females with the highest total motor activity （A）; group II, 10 males and 20 females showing little or no motor activity （N）. Important differences were found in male and female fertility. During the first week, 80% of males mated in group I compared to only 20% in group II. Despite their normal breeding condition, passive males were timid and ponderous during mating, unlike active males which mated willingly and rapidly. Fertility was high in both groups （87.5% and 94.7% in group I and II）. Unlike females from group II, females from group I showed no tendency towards nest building. 40% of females from group I gave birth in different cage areas, while 90% of females from group II gave birth in nest boxes with down and straw bedding. No differences were found between the active and passive lines for body weight at birth or at 35 days of age.展开更多

Based on the five major targeted vocational positions and its main task of accounting profession, this article has constructed the accounting vocational competence system, analyzed the correspondence between accounting profession＇ s core competencies and educational levels, and raised nine core competencies for the accounting profession, as well as the correspondence between the division of the breadth and depth of core competencies in vocational training and educational levels, with focus on the correspondence between the training breadth and depth of three key core accounting competencies and educational levels in the process of educational convergence.展开更多
