To investigate the possible involvement of endogenous plant hormones in heterosis of Liriodendron interspecific hybrid, growth traits and contents of endogenous GA 1/3 (gibberellin A 1, A 3), IAA (indole_3_a...To investigate the possible involvement of endogenous plant hormones in heterosis of Liriodendron interspecific hybrid, growth traits and contents of endogenous GA 1/3 (gibberellin A 1, A 3), IAA (indole_3_acetic acid) and iPA (isopentenyl adenine) of tulip tree ( L. chinense (Hemsl.) Sarg.), yellow poplar ( L. tulipifera L.) and their interspecific hybrid ( L. chinense × L. tulipifera ) were examined. Results showed that: (1) the heterosis in height growth trait of the interspecific hybrid was mainly caused by the reletively greater elongation of internodes. Although the uppermost three internodes had the potential of elongation, the first one, which had the greatest elongation amount, contributed to the heterosis of the height growth trait; (2) the contents of endogenous GA 1/3 , IAA and iPA were greatly different among tulip tree, yellow poplar and their interspecific hybrid. All of the three interspecific hybrid families studied significantly contained higher amount of endogenous GA 1/3 and iPA in the uppermost first internode than their parental species. And thus, a correlation between the contents of endogenous GA 1/3 and iPA, and hybrid vigor for height growth trait in Liriodendron was observed; (3) the rankings of endogenous GA 1/3 and iPA contents in the uppermost first internode of three hybrid families studied were not similar to the ranking for height of 3_year_old trees. Therefore, the contents of endogenous GA 1/3 and iPA in the uppermost first internode could not be used in predicting hybrid vigor among hybrid families.展开更多
Rapid technological development and population growth are responsible for a series of imminent environmental problems and an ineluctable energy crisis.The application of semiconductor nanomaterials in photocatalysis o...Rapid technological development and population growth are responsible for a series of imminent environmental problems and an ineluctable energy crisis.The application of semiconductor nanomaterials in photocatalysis or photoelectrocatalysis(PEC)for either the degradation of contaminants in the environment or the generation of hydrogen as clean fuel is an effective approach to alleviate these problems.However,the efficiency of such processes remains suboptimal for real applications.Reasonable construction of a built-in electric field is considered to efficiently enhance carrier separation and reduce carrier recombination to improve catalytic performance.In the past decade,as a new method to enhance the built-in electric field,the piezoelectric effect from piezoelectric materials has been extensively studied.In this review,we provide an overview of the properties of piezoelectric materials and the mechanisms of piezoelectricity and ferroelectricity for a built-in electric field.Then,piezoelectric and ferroelectric polarization regulated built-in electric fields that mediate catalysis are discussed.Furthermore,the applications of piezoelectric semiconductor materials are also highlighted,including degradation of pollutants,bacteria disinfection,water splitting for H2 generation,and organic synthesis.We conclude by discussing the challenges in the field and the exciting opportunities to further improve piezo-catalytic efficiency.展开更多
OBJECTIVE To investigate the potential malignant characteristics and pathogenesis of endometriosis as well as the role of human growth hormone and epidermal growth factor receptor in the pathogenesis of malignant tran...OBJECTIVE To investigate the potential malignant characteristics and pathogenesis of endometriosis as well as the role of human growth hormone and epidermal growth factor receptor in the pathogenesis of malignant transformation of endometriosis. METHODS The immunohistochemical S-P method was used to examine the expression of human growth hormone and epidermal growth factor receptor in the eutopic and ectopic endometrium of 84 cases of endometriosis. RESULTS The percentage of positive cases of human growth hormone in eutopic and ectopic endometrium was 90.77% (59/65) and 85.71% (72/ 84) respectively. The percentage of positive cases of epidermal growth factor receptor in eutopic and ectopic endometrium was 81.54% (53/65) and 89.29% (75/84) respectively. The positive rate of epidermal growth factor receptor in ectopic endometrium was higher than that in the eutopic endometrium but without a statistically significant difference (P〉 0.05). CONCLUSION Endometriosis is caused by multiple factors, which possesses some biologic features of neoplastic tissue such as invasion and metastasis. Both human growth hormone and epidermal growth factor receptor are highly expressed in eutopic and ectopic endometrium, which lead directly or indirectly to the pathogenesis of endometriosis and promote the initiation and malignant transformation of endometriosis.展开更多

METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed L1 expression in 63 cases of pancreatic neuro...AIM: To determine the expression of L1 in pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor and to correlate it with WHO classification of this tumor. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed L1 expression in 63 cases of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor by immunohistochemistry on paraffin sections of primary tumors or metastases. Staining was performed by peroxidase technique with monoclonal antibody U3127.11 against human L1. All tumors were classified according to WHO classification as well-differentiated neuroendo- crine tumors and carcinomas or poorly-differentiated neuroendocrine carcinomas. RESULTS: LI was detected in 5 (7.9%) of 63 pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. Four (44.4%) of 9 poorlydifferentiated carcinomas expressed L1. In contrast, only 1 (1.9%) of 54 well-differentiated tumors or carcinomas was positive for LI. No expression was found in Langerhans islet cells of normal pancreatic tissue. Cross table analysis showed a significant association between L1 expression and classification of neuroendocrine tumors of the pancreas (P〈0.01). CONCLUSION: L1 is specifically expressed in poorlydifferentiated pancreatic neuroendocrine carcinomas that are known to have the worst prognosis. L1 might be a marker for risk prediction of patients diagnosed with pancreatic neuroendocrine carcinomas.展开更多

Crassostrea angulata and C. ariakensis are two important economic shellfish species in China. We conducted 2 × 2 reciprocal crosses to determine whether these two species can cross-fertilize and their hybrids can hatch, survive and perform hetero- sis. Fertilization was found symmetrical without delay. The rate of fertilization success of C. angulata ♀× C. ariakensis ♂ was lower than that of C. ariakensis ♀ x C. angulata ♂, and the success rate of both hybridizations was lower than that of two intraspecific crosses each. During the planktonic period, survival rate of the progeny was lower in the hybrid crosses than in the intraspecific crosses. On day 360, mean shell height of the progeny of C. angulata ♀ x C. angulata ♂ was highest, which was followed by that of C. angulata ♀ × C. ariakensis ♂, C. ariakensis ♀x C. ariakensis ♂ and C. ariakensis ♀× C. angulata ♂ in a descending order. Mor- phology of adults produced by the hybrid crosses was similar to that of C. angulata. Both hybrids underwent normal gonad devel- opment and produced mature gametes in the mating season. The results of the comparison show that Time & Code Division-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (TC-OFDM) is a system that can achieve real-time meter-accuracy of indoor positioning in a wide area. Finally, in this paper, we indicate that the seamless high-accuracy indoor positioning in a wide area is the development trend of indoor positioning. The seamless Location Based Services (LBS) architecture based on a heterogeneous network, key technologies in indoor positioning for decimeter-accuracy and seamless outdoor and indoor Geographic Information System (GIS) are elaborated as the most important research fields of future indoor positioning.展开更多
The purpose of this research is to study the perception of Chiapanecan handicrafts as an element of sustainable competitive advantage in the State of Chiapas, Mexico, mainly due to the tourism. Mexican handicrafts co...The purpose of this research is to study the perception of Chiapanecan handicrafts as an element of sustainable competitive advantage in the State of Chiapas, Mexico, mainly due to the tourism. Mexican handicrafts contribute to 20.3% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the cultural sector, that is, 0.6% of the National GDP. This research is quantitative, descriptive, and transversal. The sample selection was made for convenience so certain criteria could be met. In total, 70 tourists were surveyed in the handicraft commerce area. For the data retrieval, an instrument with the “Sustainability SWOT” (sSWOT) was designed, which consists of eight dimensions (trends, environmental challenges, threats, opportunities, strengths, weaknesses, which to prioritize, and where to act). The instrument consists of 22 items with a single Likert scale ranging from 1 to 5 (1 = Null to 5 = Excellent). The study showed that 54.29% of the tourists who visit Chiapas perceive that handicrafts have a regular impact on the small producer’s quality of life, while the remaining 45.71% point out that the impact is greater.展开更多

Agricultural production sector does not fully r...China's bee industry is a small proportion of domestic agriculture with fewer farmers, and the government didn't attach much attention to or give supports to it. Agricultural production sector does not fully recognize the economic value of honeybee pollination. Chinese beekeepers gain profits only from products such as honey, royal jelly and bee pollen. Because of the production mode that aims at gathering and producing more honey while neglecting the health care of bees and the quality of products; export enterprises lack guidance and knowledge in export inspection and quarantine and technical regulations, and thus, the average price of China's bee honey exports is much lower than that of other countries in the world. Meanwhile, in domestic market, given the sustained development of China's macro economy and increasing incomes of residents, people show increasing interests in the health care function of honey. Based on the survey data of honey market in Beijing, Hangzhou, Qingdao, Zhengzhou and Chengdu from 2012 to 2015, the paper analyzes the price feature of China's honey market and its formulation basis, and also compares prices of honey with the same quality in different markets. Moreover, the paper combines data from fixed observation places of honey products production, which is carried out by the economic research group of bee industry in 11 provinces, to discuss reasons for continuous honey price rising in domestic market. Lastly, the paper uses the honey as an example to analyze pricing strategy of agricultural products with health care functions. The paper hold the opinions that the keys to solve the problem that high quality agricultural material couldn't sell in high price and good and bad are mixed in the market, is to build up quality and price mechanism in the processing of raw material purchasing to the terminal market, publicize more products information and superior customer attractiveness on health care effect.展开更多
